On your computer, you need the <strong>GP-200 Setup app<\/strong> version 1.8.1 or higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The GP-200 supports NAM A2 through an amp capture module called\u00a0SnapTone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For instructions on using the SnapTone function, check out our SweetCare<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/valeton-gp-200-guitar-multi-effects-pedal-quickstart-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&nbsp;Valeton GP-200 Guitar Multi-effects Pedal Quickstart Guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Update-the-Firmware-with-the-Valeton-GP-200-Setup-App-on-Your-Computer\">Update the Firmware with the Valeton GP-200 Setup App on Your Computer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Identify-the-Firmware-Version\"><em>Identify the Firmware Version<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>First, take note of the firmware version currently installed on your hardware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Power up your unit. On the front panel, press the&nbsp;<strong>Global<\/strong>&nbsp;button.<\/li><li>On the display, you\u2019ll see&nbsp;<strong>Global Settings<\/strong>. Turn the&nbsp;<strong>Para<\/strong>&nbsp;knob until you get to \u201cAbout.\u201d The firmware version number will be displayed at the bottom of the screen; for example, \u201cFirmware Version V.1.7.4.\u201d Write down your number.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, on your computer, go to the Valeton website, identify and download the version of the GP-200 Setup app that matches the version number of the firmware that\u2019s currently on your unit. Don\u2019t install the newest version of the app at this time; it will not be compatible with your older firmware. Follow these steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Install-the-ASIO-Driver-for-Windows\"><em>Install the ASIO Driver for Windows<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are on Windows 10 or Windows 11, then you must first install the newest version of Valeton\u2019s USB driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are on macOS, then no driver installation is needed. Skip to the next section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Windows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>On the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.valeton.net\/download\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Valeton Support Download page<\/a>, under&nbsp;<strong>Software &gt; ASIO &gt; win<\/strong>, find the newest version of the Valeton USB Audio Driver. Click the link to download.<\/li><li>Find the .zip file in your Downloads folder and extract it. Under<strong>&nbsp;Software &gt; Multi Effects &gt; GP-200 SERIES<\/strong>, select your operating system, \u201c<strong>win<\/strong>\u201d or \u201c<strong>mac<\/strong>.\u201d<\/li><li>On the next page, locate the version of the GP-200 Setup app that most closely matches the version number of the firmware currently installed on your unit. For example, if your unit has firmware V1.7.4, then you need GP-200 Setup V1.7.0.<\/li><li>Download the .zip file. If you encounter this problem, then there\u2019s a procedure to manually switch to using the Windows 11 generic USB Audio Device driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow the instructions in this Valeton bulletin:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.valeton.net\/win11-technical-notice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Win11 technical notice<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Launch the GP-200 Setup app and start the procedure over again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Back-Up-Your-Data\"><em>Back Up Your Data<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have already created custom patches, then you need to use the GP-200 Setup app to back up your data to a folder on your computer\u2019s hard drive before you update the firmware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>In the home screen of the app, under \u201cPatch List,\u201d shift-click to select the range of patches you wish to export.<\/li><li>Click the icon of the page with the arrow pointing to the right. This will open the \u201c<strong>Export Patch(es)<\/strong>\u201d dialog.<\/li><li>Click \u201c<strong>OK<\/strong>\u201d to select a folder where the patches will be stored and follow the prompts.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Download-the-Newest-Firmware-from-the-Valeton-Website\"><em>Download the Newest Firmware from the Valeton Website<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you\u2019ve got the correct version of the app communicating with your GP-200, you need to go back to the Valeton website and download the newest firmware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>On your computer, go to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.valeton.net\/download\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Valeton Support Download page<\/a>&nbsp;and follow the path&nbsp;<strong>Firmware &gt; Multi Effects &gt; GP-200\/GP-200R&#8230;<\/strong><\/li><li>On this page, you\u2019ll see many different versions of the GP-200 firmware. Download the newest version that\u2019s posted here.<\/li><li>In your Downloads folder, extract the file.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Load-&amp;-Update-the-Firmware\"><em>Load &amp; Update the Firmware<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>With your GP-200 connected to your computer via USB and the GP-200 Setup app open, click on the Settings (wrench) icon in the upper-right corner.<\/li><li>In the Settings panel, click on \u201cFirmware Update.\u201d<\/li><li>In the Firmware Update pane, click on the folder icon next to \u201cPlease select a firmware (.bin) file.\u201d<\/li><li>In the Open dialog, navigate to the firmware update folder you downloaded and extracted before. Select the file ending in \u201c.bin.\u201d<\/li><li>Back in the Firmware Update pane, click \u201c<strong>Update Now<\/strong>.\u201d<\/li><li>A dialog will remind you about backing up your patches. Since you\u2019ve done this in a previous step, click \u201c<strong>Continue<\/strong>.\u201d In the second warning dialog, click \u201c<strong>Continue<\/strong>\u201d again.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The app will upload the firmware to the GP-200 hardware. The GP-200 hardware will then install the update and reboot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be patient during the update. Don\u2019t quit the app, disconnect the USB cable, or touch anything on the GP-200 unit. The entire update process may take as long as 20 minutes, and during that time you won\u2019t see any progress on the GP-200\u2019s display screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pay close attention to the messages displayed in the app and on the screen of the GP-200. Don\u2019t shut down or restart the unit until you are prompted to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the update is complete, press the&nbsp;<strong>Global<\/strong>&nbsp;button and use the&nbsp;<strong>Para<\/strong>&nbsp;knob to scroll to \u201cAbout\u201d and confirm that the new firmware number is displayed. This indicates that the update was installed correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"If-the-Update-Won\u2019t-Work\"><em>If the Update Won\u2019t Work<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a \u201creset\u201d procedure you can try. It\u2019s detailed in the Firmware Update screen in the app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Quit the app.<\/li><li>Disconnect the power supply while keeping the USB cable connected to your computer.<\/li><li>Hold down footswitches 2 and 3 (labeled with a plus sign and \u201cCTRL\u201d) as well as the Para knob with one hand while connecting the power supply with the other. While holding everything down, press the power switch. The unit will boot into Firmware Update mode.<\/li><li>Launch the app and click the&nbsp;<strong>Settings<\/strong>&nbsp;icon.<\/li><li>Go to&nbsp;<strong>Settings &gt; Firmware Update<\/strong>, browse and select the firmware file, and repeat the installation procedure.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Update-Your-GP-200-App-to-the-Newest-Version\">Update Your GP-200 App to the Newest Version<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now you\u2019ve got the newest firmware installed on your GP-200, but you have an older version of the GP-200 Edit app on your computer that will not work with the new firmware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>On your computer,&nbsp;<strong>uninstall<\/strong>&nbsp;the GP-200 Edit app.<\/li><li>Go to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.valeton.net\/download\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Valeton Support Download page<\/a>. Under<strong>&nbsp;Software &gt; Multi Effects &gt; GP-200 Series<\/strong>, select your operating system, \u201c<strong>win<\/strong>\u201d or \u201c<strong>mac<\/strong>.\u201d&nbsp;<\/li><li>Locate the version of the GP-200 Setup app whose version number most closely matches that of the version number of the firmware you installed on your unit. For example, if you\u2019ve installed firmware V1.8.0, then you can download and install GP-200 Setup V1.8.1.<\/li><li>Download the .zip file. Go to your Downloads folder; extract and run the installer.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Restore-from-Backup-if-Needed\">Restore from Backup if Needed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On your unit, check out the patches. If anything is missing, then you can restore the patches that you backed up in the procedure above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>In the GP-200 Setup app, under \u201cPatch List,\u201d select a patch location.<\/li><li>Click on the icon of a page with an arrow pointing left.&nbsp;<\/li><li>This will open the&nbsp;<strong>Import Patches<\/strong>&nbsp;dialog.
