When you register your device, you\u2019ll gain access to the MPC software, drivers, and a premium collection of sounds. Follow these steps to register your device and then continue to Setup and connections.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Log in to your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/profile.inmusicbrands.com\/customer\/account\/login\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">inMusic account<\/a>. There are quite a few options available to connect external gear like analog synths, MIDI devices, and even external hard drives. Depending on the gear you\u2019re connecting, no additional setup is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>Ethernet<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ethernet connection allows you to use Ableton Link, sync with other devices, and get a better network connection with the Akai Network Driver. You can enable and disable this through the <em>Preferences<\/em> menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Go to the MPC One G2 home screen, and press <strong>Preferences <\/strong>located at the bottom of the display.<\/li><li>Tap <strong>Ethernet<\/strong>, and then tap the <strong>Enabled <\/strong>box to turn it on or off. You can also select how the MPC One G2 connects to the network by using the <strong>Address Method<\/strong> dropdown.<ul><li>If it&#8217;s set to <em>Manual<\/em>, you will need to enter the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"USB\">USB<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The MPC One G2 has one USB-A and one USB-C port. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The USB-C connection allows you to connect the MPC One G2 to a USB 3.0 port on your computer. You can send both MIDI and audio to and from the hardware using this port. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The USB-A connection not only allows you to send and receive audio and MIDI data from your computer, you can connect USB external storage devices to access song and project files. Class-compliant USB audio interfaces can even be connected to the USB-A port.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"Inputs\">Inputs<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u00bc-inch TRS inputs are for connecting an audio device such as a drum machine, synthesizer. If you have an \u215b-inch to \u00bc-inch cable, you can also connect mobile devices for recording samples. When you create an audio track, you can create a stereo track, mono track, or a resampled <em>(internally routed)<\/em> track, which means it will record whatever comes out of the outputs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>MIDI<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The MIDI ports allow you to connect an external MIDI controller or drum machine via <a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/c853--MIDI_Cables\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">five-pin MIDI cables<\/a>. Once connected, you can assign the keys\/pads from your MIDI controller to functions on the MPC One G2. It also has a MIDI learn feature, which is particularly useful in live applications, if for example, you want to control a filter on the fly.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>To update the MIDI In and Out port configuration, go to <em>Preferences<\/em> and choose <strong>MIDI\/Sync<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"CV\/Gate\">CV\/Gate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>These connections allow you to send analog control messages to external synthesizers and sequencers. To enable the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/insync\/control-voltage\/\" target=\"_blank\">CV<\/a> outputs, go to the <em>Main <\/em>page and press the <strong>MIDI <\/strong>tab on the touchscreen. Next, press <strong>CV<\/strong>, then select the <strong>CV <\/strong>output your device is connected to.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The CV outputs accept \u215binch <em>(3.5mm)<\/em> TRS cables. Mono \u215b-inch <em>(3.5mm) <\/em>TS<em> <\/em>cables are also compatible.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"External-Storage\">External Storage<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While the MPC One G2 has a 64GB capacity for user data, you can use a USB thumb drive, external hard drives, and also SD or SDHC cards for additional space. Akai recommends you format the external storage device to <strong>exFAT<\/strong>. However, you can also format it to <strong>FAT32<\/strong>, <strong>NTFS<\/strong>, <strong>EXT4<\/strong>, or <strong>HFS+<\/strong>. Each button allows you to access specific menus. When holding the <strong>Shift <\/strong>button, the same buttons give you access to even more. For a deep dive on which button controls which menu, be sure to check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.akaipro.com\/mpc-manuals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">User Manual<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Q-Link-Knobs\">Q-Link Knobs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Q-Link knobs are located to the right of the touchscreen. These are fully customizable, so you can assign each knob to control pretty much any macro control you want.
