With your new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/store\/detail\/Stadium--line-6-helix-stadium-amp-modeler-and-fx-processor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Line 6 Helix Stadium<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/store\/detail\/StadiumXL--line-6-helix-stadium-xl-amp-modeler-and-fx-processor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stadium XL<\/a> and a little preparation, it\u2019s easy to export your presets from your original Helix or HX unit to your new Stadium unit. Here\u2019s how to make the move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong><a href=\"#Overview\">Overview<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"#Update-the-Firmware-&amp;-Software\">Update the Firmware &amp; Software<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"#Exporting-Helix-Presets-&amp;-Importing-Them-to-Stadium\">Exporting Helix Presets &amp; Importing Them to Stadium<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"#Editing-Stadium-Presets\">Editing Stadium Presets<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"#Back-up-Your-Work\">Back up Your Work<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"#SweetCare-Line-6-Helix-Stadium-Guides\">SweetCare Line 6 Helix Stadium Guides<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Overview\"><strong>Overview<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ll refer to presets and files from your Line 6 Helix, HX unit, or Helix Native software plug-in as \u201cHelix presets.\u201d We\u2019ll refer to presets and files in the new format for the Line 6 Helix Stadium as \u201cStadium presets.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Transferring presets from your Helix to your Stadium is done on your Mac or Windows PC. You export Helix presets and IR files in <strong>.wav<\/strong> format from your Helix or HX hardware via the <strong>HX Edit app<\/strong> (or Helix Native software) to folders on your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><meta charset=\"utf-8\">Before you start exporting files, however, an extra step is required for any Helix preset that uses an IR file. Because the Stadium has a different format and file structure for IRs and cab blocks, any Helix presets with IRs will not automatically map those IRs to the new Stadium format. First, go through each Helix preset in the HX Edit app, take note of the IR(s), and write down the name of the IR file(s) so you can set them up in the Helix Stadium app after they\u2019re imported. Now that you&#8217;ve taken notes, you can export your presets to your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Converting a Helix preset to a Stadium preset is a one-way trip. A Helix unit is unable to read a Stadium-format preset. Be sure to retain the backups of your original Helix presets to maintain compatibility with your Helix units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, you\u2019ll import the Helix presets and IR files from those folders on your computer into the <strong>Helix Stadium app<\/strong>, along with your library of IR files. The Helix Stadium app transfers your presets and IRs to your Stadium unit. In the app or on the unit itself, this is the point where you go through each preset and set up your IR assignments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At this point you should use the Helix Stadium app to back up the Stadium versions of these presets to a different set of folders on your computer\u2019s hard drive. That way you&#8217;ve got backups of both versions, your new Stadium presets and the original Helix versions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Line 6 provides a list of additional points you should understand before you start migrating presets. Learn more in the <a href=\"https:\/\/manuals.line6.com\/en\/helix-stadium\/live\/presets#Importing-Helix\/HX-Presets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Helix Stadium Owner\u2019s Manual &gt; Presets, Setlists, and Templates &gt; Importing Helix\/HX Presets<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Update-the-Firmware-&amp;-Software\"><strong>Update the Firmware &amp; Software<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Line 6, before you export Helix presets to be imported into the Stadium, your Helix or HX unit needs to be running at least firmware v3.5, together with the HX Edit app version 3.5 or higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, at the launch of the Stadium with firmware 1.1, the newest firmware for the Helix units is version 3.8. So, don\u2019t worry about the version number. Simply update everything to the newest version before you start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For your Helix units, download and install the newest version of the Helix Edit app and use it to update the firmware on your Helix or HX unit. Follow the instructions in our SweetCare articles \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/line-6-helix-stadium-editor-librarian-app-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Line 6 Helix Stadium Editor\/Librarian App Guide<\/a>\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/line-6-helix-stadium-firmware-update\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Line 6 Helix Stadium Firmware Update<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Exporting-Helix-Presets-&amp;-Importing-Them-to-Stadium\"><strong>Exporting Helix Presets &amp; Importing Them to Stadium<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember our note above about checking each Helix preset beforehand and writing down information about IRs and cab blocks and which IR file is assigned to each one!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><em>Using Both the Helix and Stadium Together<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>An effective way to migrate presets is by connecting both your original Helix or HX unit and your new Stadium to your computer at the same time, with both the HX Edit app and the Helix Stadium app running on your screen. This way, you can simply drag a preset file from the HX Edit app\u2019s preset library panel and drop it directly into the Helix Stadium app\u2019s user preset list to import it. With both hardware units up and running, you can audition and compare the Helix version of the preset to the Stadium version and start tweaking parameters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><em>Export from Helix<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While having both the Helix and HX Edit app and the Stadium and Helix Stadium app set up and running at the same time on your computer is a neat trick for one preset at a time, it\u2019s more efficient to use the Helix Stadium app to open and import whole folders of Helix presets and IR files from the hard drive of your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using the Librarian view in the HX Edit app, you\u2019ll want to export folders for Presets, Setlists, Favorites, and IRs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Presets, for example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Highlight the presets you want to export and select the <strong>Export Preset <\/strong>command.<\/li><li>In the Save dialog, navigate to the folder where you want to save the files.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more in the <strong>HX Edit Pilots Guide 3.80<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Presets Panel<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Importing and Exporting Preset Files<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><em>Import to Stadium<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Helix Stadium app, in the Librarian view, you\u2019ll want to import those folders of Presets, Setlists, Favorites, and IRs that you exported from the HX Edit app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Presets, for example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>In the Preset Librarian view, select an empty User preset location and click <strong>Import<\/strong>.<\/li><li>In the Open dialog, navigate to the folder where the Helix preset files are stored, select the ones you want, and open them.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more in the <a href=\"https:\/\/manuals.line6.com\/en\/helix-stadium\/live\/librarian-view#Importing-&amp;-Exporting-Presets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Helix Stadium Owner\u2019s Manual &gt; The Helix Stadium Application &gt; The Librarian View &gt; Importing &amp; Exporting Presets<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Editing-Stadium-Presets\"><strong>Editing Stadium Presets<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once your IR library and presets are loaded into the Helix Stadium app, and therefore loaded into your Stadium unit, it\u2019s time to go into each preset on the Stadium and set up IR and cab block assignments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Line 6 explains in the <a href=\"https:\/\/manuals.line6.com\/en\/helix-stadium\/live\/presets#Importing-Helix\/HX-Presets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Helix Stadium Owner\u2019s Manual &gt; Presets, Setlists, and Templates &gt; Importing Helix\/HX Presets<\/a>, due to the improved architecture, there are several elements of each preset on the Stadium side that may cause your Stadium preset to sound different than your Helix preset. You\u2019ll want to go in and tweak parameters, either on the Stadium touchscreen or in the Helix Stadium app on your computer, to account for the differences. Hopefully you\u2019ll find that the Stadium preset sounds better once you\u2019ve evened things out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some points:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Any Helix preset with a Hybrid cab may sound different compared to the corresponding Stadium cab. Examine your IR choices, and you may select something more suitable.<\/li><li>Stadium has a single 7-band parametric EQ that replaces various modules on the Helix. You may want to open the Stadium EQ and adjust by ear to compensate for slight differences in tone.<\/li><li>Volume levels in parallel signal paths may sound slightly louder or softer. Compensate for these in the Merge &gt; Mixer or the Output block Level parameter.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s a tip. The Stadium contains all the \u201cOriginal\u201d amp models and effects from the Helix, which you were using in your Helix presets. But the Stadium also includes the new, more highly detailed and dynamic Agoura amp models and additional effects. Taking note of the parameter values within an amp block in a preset, experiment with replacing an Original model with an Agoura model to give your preset the most satisfying sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more in the <a href=\"https:\/\/manuals.line6.com\/en\/helix-stadium\/live\/amp-blocks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Helix Stadium Owner\u2019s Manual &gt; The Blocks &gt; Amps and Preamps<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Back-up-Your-Work\"><strong>Back up Your Work<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f3f2f1\"><strong>Note: <\/strong>A library of hundreds of Helix IRs may be large in size. After the Helix Stadium app loads them into your Stadium unit over Wi-Fi, the next time you power up your Stadium unit, it may take several minutes to index the new IR files. This should be a one-time event that won\u2019t slow down your Stadium from that point forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using the Helix Stadium app on your computer, make sure you create backups of your Stadium presets by exporting them to new folders on your hard drive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more in the <a
