Neural DSP released Quad Cortex CorOS 3.3.0 on November 26, 2025. Sweetwater recommends that all Quad Cortex users update their firmware to take advantage of the new Neural Capture Version 2 and a host of new captures, virtual devices, workflow enhancements, and improvements. Here’s how to install this free update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please read through this guide carefully to ensure that your firmware update goes off without a hitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    New Features in Quad Cortex CorOS 3.3.0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    CorOS 3.3.0 introduces Neural Capture Version 2<\/strong>, promising even greater dynamic accuracy and realism when capturing fuzzes, compressors and amplifiers. You can still use the original Neural Capture Version 1, where the processing is done on your Quad Cortex. If you choose to process a capture with Version 2, your capture data is uploaded to the Neural DSP cloud servers and the processing is done there with a more advanced algorithm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    CorOS 3.3.0 adds 669 new Captures across 41 devices to the library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Twenty-nine new modeled virtual devices have been added, including the Dumbbell ODS<\/strong> amp model, 17 cabs, the new Mono Synth<\/strong>, and numerous effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    “Quality of life” improvements include an improved and reorganized method for storing your content libraries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Along with CorOS 3.3.0 comes the Cortex Control 1.4.0 app<\/strong> for macOS and Windows, and the Cortex Cloud 2.8.0 app<\/strong> for iPhone, iPad and Android devices. Update your apps to the newest version along with the new firmware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Follow the steps below to update your firmware on the Quad Cortex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Connect Your Quad Cortex to Wi-Fi<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
    1. Click the three dots<\/strong> in the top-right corner of any Preset screen.<\/li>
    2. Scroll down to Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>
    3. Select Wi-Fi<\/strong> from the navigation bar. Connect to your Wi-Fi network and enter your password.<\/li>
    4. Verify that there is a check mark next to the network. This confirms there is a successful connection.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Log in to Your Quad Cortex Account<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Navigate to Settings > My Account<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Touch Login<\/strong>. Enter your Neural DSP account email and password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Touch the blue button to link your account. It may take several minutes to complete the connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Back Up Your Data, Captures, and Presets to the Cortex Cloud<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      IMPORTANT:<\/strong> Don\u2019t update your firmware to a new version of CorOS until you have backed up your data. When you have a backup, if anything goes wrong in the update process and you lose your presets, then you can restore everything using the backup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Go to Settings > Backup<\/strong>.<\/li>
      2. Touch New Cloud Backup<\/strong>.<\/li>
      3. Name your backup and wait for verification. The file name will appear as a useable backup once it is complete.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        If you encounter a Backup Error<\/em> message, double-check your Wi-Fi connection. Move your unit closer to your Wi-Fi access point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Update Your Firmware<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        IMPORTANT:<\/strong> Do not shut down your Quad Cortex or interrupt its access to Wi-Fi during the firmware-update process. The entire process, during which the Quad Cortex will reboot several times, will take up to 35 minutes. If you interrupt the process, issues may arise, and you will have to start over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The update is carried out on your Quad Cortex over Wi-Fi. If you are running the Cortex Control app for macOS or Windows, quit the app before you begin the update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Make sure you are in a location with a strong, stable Wi-Fi connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Go to Settings > Device Options > Device Updates<\/strong>.<\/li>
        2. Touch Check for Updates<\/strong>.<\/li>
        3. You should see a notification that the new version of CorOS is ready to install. Accept the update.<\/li>
        4. A \u201cDownloading Latest Update\u201d message and a progress bar should appear.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Wait patiently as the unit reboots several times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Verify the Firmware Update<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          Navigate to Settings > Device Options<\/strong>. You should see the message \u201cYour Quad Cortex is currently running:\u201d with the new version number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          If you don\u2019t see it, then verify that you are connected to Wi-Fi and logged in to your Quad Cortex account. Run the update procedure again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Verify Your Presets and Restore from Backup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          Back at the home screen, cycle through Scene, Stomp, and Preset modes to ensure that your presets are still there. If so, you are all set, and you can enjoy the new features in the latest CorOS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          If not, go to Settings > Backups<\/strong>, select your saved backup, and click Download<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          A \u201cBackup ready to install\u201d prompt will appear. Touch Proceed<\/strong>, then wait while all the data is restored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
