You\u2019ll need to know the name of the network and the password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Helix Stadium takes about 60 seconds to boot up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first time you power up you\u2019ll see the Welcome screen. Tap <strong>Next<\/strong> and follow the steps to set up your device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enable <strong>Wi-Fi<\/strong>, tap to select your local network, and enter your password to connect the Stadium to the Internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the Log In screen, you\u2019ll see a QR code and a 6-character alphanumeric code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are three different methods to sign in to your Line 6 account and register your device. If you don\u2019t have an account, you can create one at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do <strong>one<\/strong> of these:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Using your phone, scan the QR code. This will take you to the login page in your phone\u2019s browser.<\/li><li>On your computer, you can go to <a href=\"https:\/\/line6.com\/go\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/line6.com\/go<\/a> and log in there.<\/li><li>On the Stadium, if you already have an account, tap <strong>Log in with Username<\/strong>. Enter your email address and password.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Update-the-Firmware\">Update the Firmware<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On day one with your new Stadium, you must update to the newest firmware version. When you connect to Wi-Fi and the Internet and log in to your Line 6 account on the Stadium, you will automatically be prompted to do this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you see the prompt, read the <em>Release Notes<\/em> displayed on the screen, and tap <strong>Download Now<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the download is complete, tap <strong>Update Now<\/strong>. Wait for the process to complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff5c7\">I<strong>MPORTANT<\/strong>: Be patient during the update as it may take several minutes. Do not power off or touch any of the settings on your Stadium until the messages on the screen inform you that the update is complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If for some reason the update isn\u2019t performed, you can install the firmware manually by connecting your Stadium to your computer via a USB cable and running the <strong>Helix Stadium editor\/librarian app<\/strong>. Instructions can be found in the <a href=\"https:\/\/manuals.line6.com\/en\/helix-stadium\/live\/device-firmware-updates-using-the-helix-stadium-ap\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Line 6 Helix Stadium Owner\u2019s Manual &gt; The Helix Stadium Application &gt; Device Firmware Updates Using the Helix Stadium Application<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Going forward, whenever your Stadium is connected to Wi-Fi and the Internet, you\u2019ll see a small red dot on the menu icon in the upper left corner of the display screen every time Line 6 releases a new firmware update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend that every time you are alerted, you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/line-6-helix-stadium-data-backup-and-factory-reset\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">make a full backup of your Stadium to a microSD card<\/a> and then follow the prompts to install the firmware update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Helix-Stadium-Owner\u2019s-Manual\">Helix Stadium Owner\u2019s Manual<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Line 6 provides the <a href=\"https:\/\/manuals.line6.com\/en\/helix-stadium\/live\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Helix Stadium Owner\u2019s Manual online as a web page<\/a>. Bookmark this link!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Getting-Started-with-Your-Line-6-Helix-Stadium\">Getting Started with Your Line 6 Helix Stadium<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>No doubt you\u2019d like to plug in a guitar and headphones and start playing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Input\">Input<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Use a 1\/4-inch instrument cable to connect your guitar to the rear panel <strong>Instrument<\/strong> jack on the Stadium, or the <strong>Instrument 1<\/strong> jack on the Stadium XL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Output-(Headphones)\">Output (Headphones)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Above the Volume knob on the front panel of the Stadium are three buttons for output levels: 1\/4-inch, XLR, and Phones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you plug in any of these connections, tap the button and turn the volume knob all the way down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Connect headphones to the 1\/4-inch Phones jack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Configure-Global-Ins-and-Outs\">Configure Global Ins and Outs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When it\u2019s time to connect your Stadium to a guitar amp, powered speakers, a mixer or PA system, you\u2019ll need to configure the ins and outs in the menu settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more in the <a href=\"https:\/\/manuals.line6.com\/en\/helix-stadium\/live\/simple-setup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Helix Stadium Owner\u2019s Manual &gt; Quick Start<\/a><strong> &gt; Simple Setup &gt; Configure Stadium\u2019s Global &gt; Ins\/Outs Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s keep going with your headphones for now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Check-Out-The-Factory-Presets\">Check Out The Factory Presets<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With your headphones on, tap the Headphones button and slowly turn up the Volume knob.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Turn the <strong>upper knob<\/strong> to the right of the display screen or use the preset <strong>footswitches<\/strong> to try out some of the Factory presets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>Sound Clip<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course you can play your guitar through each preset, but there\u2019s an extremely handy new feature called the <strong>Sound Clip<\/strong>. Tap the <strong>paper clip icon<\/strong> in the upper right corner of the screen and you\u2019ll see a short audio clip of a clean guitar lick. Tap the <strong>Play<\/strong> icon, and set <strong>Repeat<\/strong> to <strong>On<\/strong> using the control knob. Tap the paper clip icon again and the clip will continue to loop while you return to the preset view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the preset view, you\u2019ll see the signal path and each sound block in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tap on a sound block. Let\u2019s start with the amplifier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>Focus Mode<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>In the lower left corner you\u2019ll see an icon like the aperture on a camera lens. This is the <strong>Focus<\/strong> icon.Tap it and you\u2019ll see a photorealistic display of an amp head. Overlaying it is a grid with a circle in the center. Tap and hold it and drag it in any direction and you\u2019ll activate a macro that adjusts multiple knobs and parameters on the amp model to let you modify the sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tap the Focus icon again to return to the preset\u2019s signal chain view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tap on one of the effects blocks, and then tap the Focus icon. You\u2019ll se a display of an effect or pedal, with a similar overlay where you can modify the sound by dragging your finger in a similar fashion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tap an IR block, and if it\u2019s a speaker cabinet, tapping Focus will give you a representation of the cab and the virtual microphone. There\u2019s also a <strong>Stomp B<\/strong> mode for Presets with large signal chains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Stomp mode, you can turn individual effects on and off within your Preset by pressing each footswitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Footswitches have <strong>capacitive touch<\/strong> &#8212; they sense the presence of your fingertip when you touch the top of the switch. Your touch on a footswitch in Stomp mode will call up the individual effect block so you can modify parameters on the display using the touchscreen or the parameter knobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>Snapshots<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>When you hold down the Mode footswitch again, you can go into <strong>Snapshot<\/strong> mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Snapshots are presets within a Preset. While keeping the same preset with the same amp, cabinet and effects chains, each Snapshot calls up a different combination of effects turned on and off, with different settings for each. One Preset can have up to eight Snapshots. Because you are within the same preset, when you switch from Snapshot to Snapshot, there\u2019s no interruption in the sound and no problems with spillover of delay and reverb tails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more in the <a href=\"https:\/\/manuals.line6.com\/en\/helix-stadium\/live\/snapshots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Helix Stadium Owner\u2019s Manual &gt; Snapshots<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>More Footswitch Modes<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Combo<\/strong> mode lets you set the top row of footswitches to either Stomp, Preset or Snapshot mode, and the bottom row of footswitches to another type of mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Transport<\/strong> mode hasn\u2019t been enabled yet. A future firmware update will enable the capability to cue and play audio recordings of songs and give them markers for automation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Comparing-Helix-Stadium-and-Helix-Stadium-XL\">Comparing Helix Stadium and Helix Stadium XL<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Helix Stadium and Stadium XL have the same sound engine and the same touch screen display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The Stadium XL has a small \u201cscribble strip\u201d screen above each footswitch, providing contextual labels. The Stadium lacks the scribble strips, but displays the contextual function of each footswitch on the touchscreen in <strong>Play view<\/strong> instead.<\/li><li>The Stadium XL has a built-in expression pedal. Furthermore you can create <strong>Setlists <\/strong>incorporating presets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can do all this on the Stadium\u2019s touchscreen, and back everything up to a microSD card. Tap <strong>New Preset<\/strong>. The <strong>Select Template<\/strong> window appears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Select a template, which will give you a pre-set signal path with blocks you can populate with your choice of amps, cabs and effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Add Blocks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>From the Home screen, tap an empty location on the path in your preset. Choose a block category: Amp, Preamp, Cab, Distortion, Delay, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s select an Amp. Double-tap on an Amp from the Model List. A matching Cab will be added, but you can change it later if you like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tap on other empty locations on the signal path to add Effects blocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Select Blocks and Tweak Some Knobs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Tap a block to select it. You\u2019ll see up to 8 parameters on the bottom of the touch screen. Turning the rotary encoder beneath the parameter lets you change its value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many blocks have more than 8 parameters. To reach the others, swipe left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ve heard about the <strong>Hype<\/strong> macro-parameter for the new-generation <strong>Agoura<\/strong> amplifier models. Hype is the last, right-most parameter, so you\u2019ll need to swipe to access it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For any amp, or effect, you can also adjust multiple parameters together by touching the Focus icon and swiping your finger across the image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the main view, tap once on a block to see the pop-up contextual menu called the Action Panel. You can copy, paste, or clear a block, and perform other actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Bypass a Block<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Turn a block on or off by selecting it and tapping the red Bypass button in the lower right corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Drag and Drop Blocks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can move a block to a new position in the signal chain by tapping and holding on it and dragging it to a new location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Save Your Preset<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Save button on the front panel looks like a floppy disk (anybody remember those?). Press the button and select a User Preset location.
