Yamaha UR interfaces are bundled with a free version of Cubase AI and Cubasis LE for iOS devices (<em>UR12 excluded)<\/em>. To get them, create an account and register your Yamaha interface. Follow the steps below to download the driver and install it for your operating system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Installation for Windows PC<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/o.steinberg.net\/en\/support\/downloads_hardware\/yamaha_steinberg_usb_driver.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Yamaha USB Driver download page<\/a> and download the latest driver for Windows.<\/li><li>Navigate to your <em>Downloads <\/em>folder and run the installer.<\/li><li>Right-click the .<strong>zip<\/strong> file, select <strong>Extract all\u2026<\/strong>, and then click <strong>Extract<\/strong>. Double-click the new .<strong>exe<\/strong> installer file and follow the on-screen instructions.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3>Installation for macOS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Yamaha Steinberg USB driver requires special permissions to be set up in macOS. If you have a Mac with Apple silicon, the first step requires booting your Mac into Recovery mode and making a change to the Security Policy. This bundle includes the Yamaha driver, FX plug-in suite, and the <strong>dspMixFx <\/strong>app which allows you to set up monitor mixes, and get more control out of your interface using DSP without any latency. UR interfaces connect with standard USB A to B cables and operate on the USB 2.0 protocol for maximum compatibility. UR12\u2019s and UR22\u2019s are USB bus-powered via USB 2.0 port, which means they receive power over the USB connection instead of a power adapter. You can also connect it to a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/store\/detail\/iPodPowerUSB--apple-power-adapter-for-ipods-usb\" target=\"_blank\">USB power adapter <\/a>or <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/store\/detail\/SurvPwrBank3--griffin-survivor-rugged-power-bank-battery-3000mah\" target=\"_blank\">mobile battery<\/a> with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/store\/detail\/USBABmicro6--startech-usb-a-to-micro-usb-b-cable\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">micro USB<\/a> cable. The micro USB connections on the UR12 and UR22 is only for power; it will not transmit data. All other UR interfaces are not bus-powered and require the use of their included external power supply.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Computer\">Computer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To connect, plug in your UR interface with a USB 2.0 cable and then power it on. Once connected, update your computer\u2019s audio settings and set your UR interface as the default playback and recording device. It\u2019s important to note that USB 3.0 cables are not supported.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Plug in the power supply, connect the USB cable from the interface to your computer, then power it on.<\/li><li>Navigate to your OS sound settings and set it as the default input and output device.<ul><li><strong>PC<\/strong>: Right-click the <strong>sound <\/strong>icon on the Windows taskbar, select <strong>Sounds<\/strong>, then click the <strong>Playback <\/strong>tab. Locate and select the interface, click <strong>Set Default,<\/strong> then click <strong>OK <\/strong>to close the menu. Do the same in the <strong>Recording <\/strong>tab.<\/li><li><strong>Mac<\/strong>: Click the <strong>Apple <\/strong>icon from the Menu Bar and select <strong>System Preferences<\/strong>. Click <strong>Sound<\/strong>, then select the UR interface under the <em>Input <\/em>and <em>Output <\/em>tabs.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"iOS-Device\">iOS Device<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To connect a UR interface to an iOS device, you\u2019ll need an official Apple <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/store\/detail\/LightCamera--apple-lightning-to-usb-camera-adapter\" target=\"_blank\">Lightning to USB Camera Adapter<\/a> and an external power supply. UR12\u2019s and UR22\u2019s will require a power supply with a micro USB connection (such as a wall charger for a mobile device) or a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/store\/search.php?s=usb+power+bank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">USB power bank<\/a>.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Connect a USB cable to the Lightning to USB camera adapter and connect it to the iOS device.<\/li><li>Connect the power supply and then turn the device on. UR12 and UR22 owners need to make sure that the <em>Power Source<\/em> switch is set to <strong>5V<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4>Is the interface not showing up?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If your UR interface does not connect, try reconnecting by unplugging and plugging it back in.
