This free update can be applied to all mixers in the StudioLive Series III family, including the new StudioLive Series III SE series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend that all users install this major update. Be aware, however, that you need to plan carefully before you install it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to bug fixes, improvements, and new features, the v.3.1.0 update brings the PreSonus ecosystem to a new level of <a href=\"https:\/\/milanav.com\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Milan certification<\/a>. Milan is an industry protocol for reliable live sound production supported by PreSonus and many other pro audio companies. Milan is based on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Audio_Video_Bridging\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AVB<\/a> (Audio Video Bridging), the system that PreSonus uses for networked digital audio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you are ready to update your PreSonus StudioLive mixer to v3.1.0, you must also update to the newest firmware on all the other components in your system (NSB stage boxes, EarMix personal monitor mixer, PreSonus AVB network switches) at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to PreSonus, for everything to work together, you must be running these firmware versions or higher:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>StudioLive Series&nbsp;III&nbsp;firmware&nbsp;v.3.1.0.107071<\/li><li>NSB&nbsp;firmware&nbsp;v.2.0.0.107036<\/li><li>EarMix&nbsp;firmware&nbsp;v.2.0.0.106950<\/li><li>AVB-D16&nbsp;firmware&nbsp;v.2.0.0.106920<\/li><li>SW5E&nbsp;firmware&nbsp;v.1.5.0.92382<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortunately, Universal Control 4.5 has a <strong>Batch Firmware Update<\/strong> feature that will automatically update every component of your system over your AVB network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But first, heed this warning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff5c7\"><strong>IMPORTANT<\/strong>: <strong>Before<\/strong> you install the v.3.1.0 update, you must document all your signal routing with pencil and paper. The audio routing you have stored in your StudioLive projects will be wiped out when you install the v.3.1.0 update. After the update, you will need to go into your mixer\u2019s menus &#8211; or through Universal Control &#8211; and rebuild\/repatch the output routing assignments. You can\u2019t recall these from a project file. You will need version 4.5 or higher to use the Batch Firmware Update procedure explained below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The installer for Universal Control will also install the newest drivers for Mac or Windows for each of your PreSonus devices, so you won\u2019t need to install drivers manually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.presonus.com\/pages\/support-documents-downloads\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download the newest version of the Universal Control owner\u2019s manual<\/a> at this link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the downloads page, select the name of your product and your operating system and click \u201c<strong>Show Results<\/strong>.\u201d Then scroll through the Documents list to locate the manual, which will be titled \u201cUser Manual &#8211; Universal Control Software For StudioLive Mixers &#8211; English\u201d or similar. Click on the link to download the manual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Set-Up-Your-PreSonus-System\">Set Up Your PreSonus System<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Set up your entire PreSonus system, with everything connected using Ethernet cables over the AVB network, and power on.<\/li><li>Make sure that any connected audio devices (speakers, power amps, etc.) are powered off or, better yet, disconnect them from your PreSonus gear. During the firmware update, your units will reboot, and you don\u2019t want transient signals that might damage these devices.<\/li><li>Connect your computer running Universal Control to your PreSonus network switch and to the Internet over an Ethernet cable.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>With a StudioLive mixer, in most cases, you will connect to your computer using both Ethernet and USB. Do not quit Universal Control on your computer. Do not disconnect any Ethernet cables. Do not turn off the power on any of your PreSonus devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>On your computer, launch Universal Control.<\/li><li>You\u2019ll see all the components of your system displayed with the device name, IP address, firmware version number, and serial number.<\/li><li>Click \u201c<strong>Check for Updates<\/strong>.\u201d Universal Control will connect to the Internet, check to see which devices need an update, and download the updates for each of your devices. Universal Control will prompt you to perform all the updates at once. Click \u201c<strong>Update All<\/strong>.\u201d<\/li><li>When each update is uploaded to each device, it will reboot.
