Registering the VX5<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Before you start, you must register your purchase with HeadRush. Registration activates an extended warranty and gives you free ReValver and Amp Cloner software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Log into your inMusic account<\/a>. If you don\u2019t have one, then click \u201cCreate Account<\/strong>\u201d and complete the necessary information.<\/li>
- On your account home page, click \u201cRegister New Product<\/strong>\u201d then enter the serial number, which is on the side of the box.<\/li>
- Fill out the necessary information to complete the registration process.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

Updating the VX5 Firmware<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
IMPORTANT! <\/strong>Make sure you update your firmware as soon as you take it out of the box! This ensures your pedal is up to date and has the latest features installed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Connect the power supply to your VX5, turn it on, and connect the pedal to your computer.
- Take note of the firmware version currently installed. It will be displayed when the pedal is powered on.<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
- Open your web browser, type \u201cVX5.local<\/strong>\u201d in the search bar, then click \u201cDownload<\/strong>\u201din the Download the Latest Firmware<\/strong> box. The firmware .img file will begin downloading.<\/li>
- In the Update Device Firmware<\/strong> box, click \u201cUpload<\/strong>.\u201d The firmware process will begin.
- Don\u2019t turn off the pedal or disconnect it from the computer while updating!<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
- Once complete, disconnect the VX5 from your computer and power cycle the unit.<\/li>
- Confirm the firmware was installed correctly by viewing the firmware version displayed when powering the pedal on.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

Setup & Connections<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Connecting gear to your HeadRush VX5 is straightforward. Simply connect your guitar and microphone to the correct inputs and connect your preferred output(s); then you\u2019re all set! Here are additional tips to get you up and running:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Disconnect anything connected to the pedal when you\u2019re done.<\/li>
- Use a 1\/4-inch TS cable<\/a> when connecting a guitar.<\/li>
- Connect the pedal to your amp or mixer via the 1\/4-inch Guitar Thru<\/strong> output.<\/li>
- Use a standard XLR cable to connect the VX5 to speakers or an amplifier system.<\/li>
- If you have a condenser microphone, then connect it to the Mic In<\/strong> and then switch the phantom power<\/a> to the On<\/strong> position. When you\u2019re finished, switch it off before disconnecting the microphone.<\/li>
- Use the Ground Lift<\/strong> switch if you hear any noise or hum when using the pedal.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Working with Presets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Thanks to its layout and navigation system, the HeadRush VX5 is easy to work with. While there are 99 fantastic factory presets included, there are plenty of preset options you can edit and adjust to create your own, as well!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To open the preset menu, press the Preset <\/strong>button then use the Preset\/Edit<\/strong> encoder to navigate and select the preset you\u2019d like to load.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Editing a preset<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
After selecting a preset, you can edit the parameters, rename it, and save it for later use. Use the various encoders and buttons on the VX5 to edit their assigned parameters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speed<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Speed adjusts the speed at which the input signal is corrected in milliseconds (0ms\u2013400ms). Slow speeds produce more natural pitch correction whereas fast speeds produce more exaggerated pitch correction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Humanize<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Like the Speed parameter, the Humanize parameter adjusts how natural or digitized the signal sounds. The more you turn the Humanize<\/strong> encoder to the left (counterclockwise), the more digitized the signal will sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Key<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Press the Key <\/strong>button and use the Preset\/Edit <\/strong>encoder to change the key, scale type, and vocal pitch range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Harmony<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Press and hold the Harmony <\/strong>button to enter the Harmony options menu and use the Preset\/Edit <\/strong>encoder to adjust various parameters such as range, source, and level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
FX<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Press and hold the FX <\/strong>button to enter the FX menu and use the Preset\/Edit <\/strong>encoder to select the type of effects you want to add (Compressor, Flavor, Chorus, Reverb, Delay). Press the Preset\/Edit <\/strong>encoder once more to edit the settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Auto-Tune<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Pressing the Auto-Tune<\/strong> button will turn the Auto-Tune effect on and off. If you\u2019re using Harmony and FX, then it\u2019s best to have Auto-Tune turned off so it doesn\u2019t affect the signal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Renaming and saving the preset<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Once you have found the perfect sound, you can rename and save the preset for later recall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Press the Preset <\/strong>button to return to the Preset screen then press and hold the Preset\/Edit <\/strong>encoder to enter the Save\/Copy screen.<\/li>
- Use the encoder to either Save, Save and Rename, or Copy. In this instance, select \u201cSave and Rename.\u201d<\/li>
- Press the Preset\/Edit<\/strong> encoder then rotate it to cycle through letters and numbers. Once you\u2019ve finished naming your preset, press the Preset<\/strong> button.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
Using the HeadRush VX5<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
The HeadRush VX5 is a no-frills pedal, which means you can spend more time playing and less time memorizing the pedal sequence or switch you need to use to access a specific function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One great feature is assigning specific effects to a particular footswitch without changing presets. This is done using the A\/B <\/strong>(left) footswitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Press and hold the A\/B <\/strong>footswitch until you see A <\/strong>on the left side of the screen.<\/li>
- Press the effect buttons you want to load on that switch (e.g.<\/em>, FX, Harmony).<\/li>
- Press the Talk<\/strong> (right) footswitch. You will see B <\/strong>on the right side of the screen.
- Press and hold the Talk <\/strong>switch to bypass the pedal. This allows you to talk to the audience without any vocal processing.<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
- Choose the effects you want to load onto that switch. You can now swap between specific effects banks without changing the current preset.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
