With the Ampero II<\/a> and Ampero II Stomp<\/a>, Hotone has put out a series of free firmware updates that add new features. You\u2019ll want to check your unit to learn its firmware version and to install an update if it is available. Let\u2019s get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Update the Firmware with the Ampero II App on Your Computer<\/a><\/strong><\/li>
  2. Hotone Sound Clone (formerly Tone Catch)<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Update the Firmware with the Ampero II App on Your Computer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    First, take note of the firmware version currently installed on your unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Power up your unit. On the display screen, tap the System Settings<\/strong> (gear<\/strong>) icon.<\/li>
    2. In Global Settings, tap the About<\/strong> icon to display your firmware version number. Write this down.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      To update the firmware on your Ampero II, you use the Ampero II Editor app on your Mac or your Windows PC while connected to your unit via its USB cable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Install the ASIO Driver for Windows<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      If you are on Windows, you must first install the newest version of Hotone\u2019s generic USB ASIO driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      If you are on macOS, no driver installation is needed. Skip to the next section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. On the Hotone Support page<\/a>, under Software > All<\/strong>, enter \u201cASIO\u201d in the Search field.<\/li>
      2. Find the link for the newest version. Click on it to download.<\/li>
      3. Find the .zip file in your Downloads folder and extract it. Run the installer and follow the prompts.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Install the Ampero II Editor App<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        1. On the Hotone Support page<\/a>, under Software > Multi Effects<\/strong>, choose your unit.<\/li>
        2. In the field on the right, choose the version of the software for Mac or Windows that matches the version of firmware currently on your unit.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          For example, if your Ampero II model has firmware V1.0.2, you will want to download and install \u201cAmpero II Software V1.0.6 for Windows (Compatible with Ampero II Firmware V1.0.2)\u201d rather than a newer version of the app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Following the prompts, download and install the software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Install the Update<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

          1. Connect your Ampero II unit to your Mac or your Windows PC using the USB cable. Power on the unit.<\/li>
          2. On your computer, launch the Ampero II Editor app.<\/li>
          3. Click the Global Settings<\/strong> tab. In the pane on the left, select Firmware Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>
          4. Next to the display of the current firmware version, click Check Update<\/strong>.<\/li>
          5. If there is a new version available, you\u2019ll see the message, \u201cThe current firmware version has been updated. Do you want to download it now?\u201d Click OK<\/strong>.<\/li>
          6. After the new version is downloaded, you\u2019ll see the message, \u201cDownload complete, do you want to update the firmware now?\u201d Click OK<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            IMPORTANT:<\/strong> Be patient while the firmware update completes. Do not disconnect your computer from the internet, and do not close the Ampero II Editor app. Do not disconnect the USB cable from the Ampero II unit, and do not touch any controls on the Ampero II or turn its power off. Doing any of these things might leave your unit in an inoperable state that will require servicing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Wait for the prompt in your computer\u2019s Ampero II Editor app that indicates that the update has been completed. Follow the prompts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Once the update is complete, you can quit the Ampero II Editor app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Download the Newest Version of the App<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

            With your Ampero II unit powered on connected to your computer via the USB cable, start the Ampero II Editor app again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            If the app indicates, \u201cNo Device Connected,\u201d then you need to return to the Support page on the Hotone website, download the newest version of the Ampero II Editor app, install it on your computer, and delete the earlier version of the app. Repeat the instructions above under Install the Ampero II Editor app<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            However, if the app recognizes the unit and starts up normally, you can most likely update the app from within, without needing to return to the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            1. In the app, click the Global Settings<\/strong> tab. In the pane on the left, select Software Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>
            2. Under Ampero II Editor<\/strong>, you\u2019ll see the current software version. Click Check Update<\/strong>.<\/li>
            3. If you see a message indicating that there is a new version of the app, then follow the prompts to install it.<\/li>
            4. Restart the app. You will now have the newest version, and you can start using the Editor.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              Download the New User Manuals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

              For every major firmware update, Hotone publishes new versions of the user manuals. You will want to download these because they explain how to use the new features, models, and effects brought by the update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              1. On your computer, go to the Hotone Support page<\/a>.<\/li>
              2. Under User Manual > Multi Effects<\/strong>, select your model. In the pane on the right, click English<\/strong>.<\/li>
              3. Locate the versions of the user manuals that correspond to the new, updated firmware version that you installed on your unit.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                For example, with the Ampero II, you\u2019ll see \u201cAmpero II User Manual (Compatible with Firmware V1.1.0)\u201d and similar entries for the Effect List, the Drum Rhythm List, and the MIDI Control Information List. Click on each link to download the manuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Hotone Sound Clone (formerly Tone Catch)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                Sound Clone is what Hotone calls its feature that enables you to create an impulse response (IR) of your amplifier, your speaker cabinet, or your effect. (The previous version of this feature was called Tone Catch.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                If you don\u2019t see the Sound Clone feature and the Clone module on your unit, then you have an older firmware version installed. You can add this feature by updating the firmware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Sound Clone is available in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                • Ampero II with firmware 1.2.0 or higher<\/li>
                • Ampero II Stomp with firmware version 2.3.1 or higher<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                  With the firmware update, the Ampero II models with Sound Clone now support NAM (Neural Amp Modeler)<\/strong> files, dramatically expanding your options for amplifier and speaker profiles. The Ampero II desktop software can convert a NAM file that you download into the Sound Clone format, which you can then load into your Ampero II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  Once you update the firmware, don\u2019t forget to download the newest version of the Online Manual for your unit, as it will have new sections explaining the new features.
