Once it\u2019s registered, you will gain access to the firmware and software necessary for the controller to work correctly. Keep your Sweetwater invoice handy; you\u2019ll need to enter some information during registration!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Log in to your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pioneerdj.com\/en-us\/account\/login\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pioneer DJ account<\/a>. If you don\u2019t have one yet,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pioneerdj.com\/en-us\/account\/register\/?relPath=en-us%2Faccount%2F#0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">create it here<\/a>.<\/li><li>Once you\u2019re logged in, click your name at the top-right corner of the page, then click the blue&nbsp;<strong>Register Product<\/strong>&nbsp;box.<\/li><li>In the&nbsp;<em>Product Name&nbsp;<\/em>field, type, then select the DDJ-GRV6.<\/li><li>Enter the serial number that\u2019s on the bottom side of the unit, plus the purchase date and the place of purchase. To unlock the software, all you need to do is download and install the software, connect the DJ controller to your computer, and launch the software. This will unlock the full version of the software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/rekordbox.com\/en\/download\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rekordbox download<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/serato.com\/dj\/pro\/downloads\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Serato DJ Pro download<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Setup-and-Connections\">Setup and Connections<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff5c7\"><strong>IMPORTANT! <\/strong>Make sure the power source is less than 24V and 9V DC power for mobile connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AlphaTheta DDJ-GRV6 has standard DJ controller connections, such as RCA, 1\/4-inch outputs, and 1\/4-inch headphone and microphone jacks. It also has USB-C jacks for both power and computer and mobile connections. Learn more in our DJ Setup Guide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The DDJ-GRV6 is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/insync\/class-compliant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">class compliant<\/a> on both PC and Mac. This means no additional driver software is required.<\/li><li>Make sure you connect 1\/4-inch outputs to a <em>balanced<\/em> speaker, mixer, or power amp. There will be noise and low output if you\u2019ve connected to an unbalanced output device.<\/li><li>If you\u2019re using the DDJ-GRV6 with an Android device, and the audio sounds off while in STEREO mode, then flip the switch to MONO.<\/li><li>When you\u2019re connecting the DDJ-GRV6 to a USB-C device, make sure to use the cable included in the box.<\/li><li>If you\u2019re using a mobile battery (power bank), make sure it doesn\u2019t have power-save or auto-sleep features.<\/li><li>The DJ controller may not function correctly if:<ul><li>The computer\u2019s power supply capacity is too low.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Other USB devices that require bus power are connected to your computer.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Connected headphone impedance is lower than 32 ohms.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>A mono cable is connected to the headphone output.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/how-to-set-up-dj-controllers\/\" class=\"relatedcontent_link\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-related-content\"><div class=\"relatedcontent_block\" style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2021\/04\/DJ-Controller-Setup-Guide.png);background-size:cover;background-position:center\"><div class=\"relatedcontent_overlay_content\"><\/div><div class=\"relatedcontent-text relatedcontent_content\"><p class=\"relatedcontent_title\" style=\"color:#fff\">How to Set Up DJ Controllers<\/p><p class=\"relatedcontent_subhead\" style=\"color:#fff;border:none\">Click here to learn how to set up DJ controllers!<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/a>\n\n\n\n<h3>Android and iOS Compatibility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Through using the rekordbox mobile app and other compatible streaming music services, the DDJ-GRV6 is compatible with most Android and iOS devices. Simply go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.pioneerdj.rekordbox&amp;hl=en_US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Google Play<\/a> store or the <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/rekordbox-dj-app-dj-mixer\/id1487048203\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">App Store<\/a>, download the rekordbox app, and follow the app\u2019s instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are using the app, you\u2019ll need to make sure the DJ controller is connected to the wall or to a USB mobile power supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.pioneerdj.rekordbox&amp;hl=en_US\">rekordbox on Google Play<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/rekordbox-dj-app-dj-mixer\/id1487048203\">rekordbox on the App Store<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Working-with-the-DDJ-GRV6\">Working with the DDJ-GRV6<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The DDJ-GRV6 is compatible with both rekordbox and Serato DJ, making it a perfect DJ controller for anyone out there. The main functions are like other DJ controllers, but there are some unique features that set it apart from the rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that your DJ rig is set up and connected to your rig, we\u2019ll cover the basics to get you up and running. Be sure to also refer to the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.pioneerdj.com\/manuals\/DDJ_GRV6_DRI1927A_manual\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DDJ-GRV6 instruction manual<\/a> and our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/getting-started-with-dj-controllers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DJ controller quickstart guide<\/a> for more details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"rekordbox\">rekordbox<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f3f2f1\"><strong>NOTE: <\/strong>Groove Circuit technology is exclusive to rekordbox. It is not available for rekordbox with Android devices, iOS devices, or Serato DJ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Groove Circuit feature allows you to swap your track\u2019s drum loops on the fly. Once a drum loop is assigned to the slot, you can use it to replace the drums of your current track. To use this, you must enable the Stems function. Check out rekordbox\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/rekordbox.com\/en\/support\/faq\/stems-7\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">support page<\/a> to learn more about Groove Circuit and Stem integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Launch rekordbox, navigate to <strong>Preferences<\/strong>, and choose <strong>Extensions<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Click the <strong>Stems<\/strong> tab, then click <strong>Enable the STEMS Function <\/strong>and <strong>Enable the GROOVE CIRCUIT Function<\/strong>.<ul><li>When enabling Stems, select the option to choose quality over speed. It will take longer to process, but you will get much better results than if you select speed.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Once Stems are enabled, you can click the <strong>Groove Circuit <\/strong>(<strong>crossing right arrow<\/strong>) button to open the Groove Circuit panel.<\/li><li>You can now press one of the four <strong>Drum Swap <\/strong>buttons to replace the drums.<ul><li>Hold <strong>Shift <\/strong>and press the <strong>Bank A <\/strong>and <strong>Bank B<\/strong> buttons to cycle through the two banks of four drum loops loaded in rekordbox.<\/li><li>Use the four <strong>Drum Roll<\/strong> buttons to perform a loop roll.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4>Capturing loops<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>There are plenty of great factory preset loops already available, but if you\u2019d like to use a drum loop from a song, you can capture and assign it as one of the playable grooves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff5c7\"><strong>IMPORTANT! <\/strong>You need to make sure it is aligned exactly on the downbeat, or else it won\u2019t line up or quantize correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Load the track of the drum loop you wish to capture to a deck.<\/li><li>Press <strong>Capture<\/strong> at the beginning of where you want to start capturing the beat.<ul><li>To change the capture length, hold <strong>Shift<\/strong> and press <strong>Capture<\/strong>. The loop length is in multiples of four, with the minimum length being four beats.<\/li><li>The number of times you press <strong>Capture <\/strong>will change the length of the loop in increments. For example, if you hold <strong>Shift <\/strong>and press the <strong>Capture <\/strong>button three times, it will capture 16 beats.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Press one of the <strong>DRUM SWAP <\/strong>(<strong>1\u20134<\/strong>) buttons to assign the loop.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/rekordbox-quickstart-guide\/\" class=\"relatedcontent_link\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-related-content\"><div class=\"relatedcontent_block\" style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2022\/11\/Getting-Started-with-rekordbox-Featured-Image.jpg);background-size:cover;background-position:center\"><div class=\"relatedcontent_overlay_content\"><\/div><div class=\"relatedcontent-text relatedcontent_content\"><p class=\"relatedcontent_title\" style=\"color:#fff\">Getting Started with rekordbox<\/p><p class=\"relatedcontent_subhead\" style=\"color:#fff;border:none\">Click here to learn more about getting started with rekordbox!<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/a>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Serato-DJ-Pro\">Serato DJ Pro<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f3f2f1\"><strong>NOTE<\/strong>: The included overlay layout sticker will provide visual aid to determine the button functions specific to Serato DJ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Groove Circuit is different in Serato DJ from in rekordbox. Instead of swapping drum loops, it will control the Stems and Stems FX in Serato DJ. Just like rekordbox, however, you will need to make sure that Stems are enabled in the software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Launch Serato DJ, making sure the <em>Analyze Stems<\/em> feature is enabled in the preferences.<\/li><li>Click and drag the track(s) you want to split into the Stems crate. Once you see the Stem icon located next to the track in your library, you can use the DJ controller\u2019s Stem features.<ul><li>\u00a0It will create a separate Stem file and store it on your hard drive.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>On the DDJ-GRV6, press the Stem track(s) you want to work with (vocal, melody, bass, or drums), then use the <strong>Stems Roll <\/strong>buttons to roll the Stem.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4>Stem FX<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You can control four different Stem FX directly from the DDJ-GRV6.
