It is an excellent choice for any studio or touring drummer. In this guide, we\u2019ll show you how to set up and use it for the first time. Just follow the assembly instructions included in the box. Here are a few tips for setting up your kit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Keep the cabling tidy by using hook-and-loop straps or zip ties to secure the cables to the rack. This will not only make the kit look clean, but it will also help prevent tangles.<\/li><li>Use a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/c1197--Drum_Rugs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">drum rug<\/a>&nbsp;underneath the Strata to prevent slipping. This also prevents the kit from absorbing vibrations that can lead to false triggering.<\/li><li>Label the cables since plenty of connections are available on the Strata Prime module. Doing so lets you know that you connected the correct cable to its associated pad.<\/li><li>Make sure the cymbals and drum pads aren\u2019t too close together. Ensuring they don\u2019t touch prevents false triggering.<\/li><li>Fully tighten the L-clamps attached to the rack, and fully tighten the pads to the L-clamps.<\/li><li>Make sure the cymbal pads are on securely. They should swing freely just like regular cymbals, but attaching them too loosely or too tightly can cause vibration and result in false triggering.<\/li><li>\ufeffMake sure your kick drum pedal has a plastic or wood beater. Felt beaters will wear down the mesh head, resulting in tears.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4>Bass Drum Assembly<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Attach your bass drum pedal to the bass drum before attaching the spurs.<\/li><li>Loosen the bass drum spurs so the bass drum is touching the ground.<\/li><li>Lift the bass drum until the spurs lock into place, then tighten them.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Strata Prime Drum Kit Overview | Alesis Drums\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SnqKHydQ4tQ?wmode=transparent&amp;rel=0&amp;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Strata Prime Drum Kit Overview | Alesis Drums<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Strata-Prime-Hi-hat-Calibration\">Strata Prime Hi-hat Calibration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Hi-hat calibration is vitally important with any electronic drum kit. Without calibration, hi-hat performance won\u2019t be natural. Unlike other electronic kits, where calibration requires diving through menus, Alesis has made the process straightforward, so you can spend more time playing and less time menu diving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Loosen the hi-hat clutch so the hi-hat is resting on the trigger module.<\/li><li>Press&nbsp;<strong>Trigger Edit<\/strong>, then press&nbsp;<strong>HH Setup&nbsp;<\/strong>at the top-right corner of the display.<\/li><li>Press&nbsp;<strong>Set<\/strong>&nbsp;on the display, raise the hi-hat back to the playing position by hand, and tighten the clutch.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Holding the pedal down and tightening it may cause it to trigger mistakenly.<\/li><li>Press&nbsp;<strong>Finish<\/strong>. The factory default settings are a great starting point. However, not all drummers are the same, so fine-tuning will make your playing experience with the Strata Prime more enjoyable. It may take a little time, but it\u2019s worth it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Adjust Trigger Performance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The pads have 360-degree playability, so adjusting settings such as sensitivity and threshold is crucial. These settings can all be found in the&nbsp;<em>Trigger Edit&nbsp;<\/em>menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Press the&nbsp;<strong>Kit&nbsp;<\/strong>button, then press&nbsp;<strong>Trigger Edit<\/strong>,which islocated on the left side of the screen.<\/li><li>Double-tap the pad you wish to edit. You will then see it lit red on the display.<\/li><li>Use the encoder knobs to adjust the settings. Test it at different dynamics to ensure you get the most accurate reading!<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3>Crosstalk Learning<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Crosstalk is the byproduct of hitting a pad too hard, causing other pads to trigger. This is one of the most frustrating issues an electronic drum kit player runs into. Alesis has added a feature known as Crosstalk Learning, which will automatically prevent crosstalk from occurring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Double-tap the drum on which you wish to enable crosstalk learning.<\/li><li>Press&nbsp;<strong>Learn XTalk<\/strong>. Follow the on-screen instructions.<\/li><li>After completing the Crosstalk Learning process, use the first two encoders to fine-tune the crosstalk settings.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4>Using Third-party Drum Pads<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f3f2f1\"><strong>NOTE:&nbsp;<\/strong>Third-party pads not included in the list below aren\u2019t verified and may not work correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While it\u2019s recommended to use Alesis Strata Prime pads when expanding your kit, you can also use some dual- and triple pads from Roland and Yamaha that have full functionality. Alesis has made it easy to incorporate these pads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Press the&nbsp;<strong>Kit&nbsp;<\/strong>button, then choose&nbsp;<strong>Trigger Edit<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Double-tap the drum you want to assign, then scroll and choose the appropriate pad to add it. Alternatively, you can use the encoder knob.<ul><li>Verify that the pad you use matches the pad selected in the module!<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is the complete list of fully compatible third-party drum pads:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5>Roland<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>PD-105<\/li><li>PD-128<\/li><li>PDA-100<\/li><li>PDA140F<\/li><li>PDX-100<\/li><li>PDX-12<\/li><li>PDX-6<\/li><li>PDX-8<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5>Yamaha<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>XP105T-M<\/li><li>XP125SD-M<\/li><li>XP125T-M<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Working-with-Samples-on-the-Strata-Prime\">Working with Samples on the Strata Prime<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Working with samples on the Strata Prime module couldn\u2019t be easier. It comes with more than 40GB of high-quality BFD samples and an additional 80GB for custom samples! Alesis has made it easy to work with them, too, as everything you need is on the display. No menu diving is necessary!
