So, in this guide, we will show you how to update the firmware on your Roland TD-27 module. Follow the sections below to get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"#Format-the-SD-Card-and-Back-Up-User-Data\"><strong>Format the SD Card and Back Up User Data<\/strong><\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#Download-the-Firmware-File\"><strong>Download the Firmware File<\/strong><\/a><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"#Update-the-TD-27-Firmware\">Update the TD-27 Firmware<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>BEFORE WE BEGIN! <\/strong><br>There are a few things you\u2019ll need to update the TD-27 module\u2019s software:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/c879--SD_Cards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SD card<\/a> with up to 32GB of storage capacity<\/li><li>Roland Cloud Manager<\/li><li>SD card reader (if your computer doesn\u2019t have an SD card slot)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Format-the-SD-Card-and-Back-Up-User-Data\">Format the SD Card and Back Up User Data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before updating the firmware, you must format the SD card so it can be recognized by the TD-27 module. You must also back up any custom presets or settings, as performing the update will erase all user data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Insert the SD card and turn on the module.<\/li><li>Press the&nbsp;<strong>SYSTEM&nbsp;<\/strong>button, use the jog wheel to select&nbsp;<strong>SD CARD<\/strong>, then choose&nbsp;<strong>FORMAT<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Press the&nbsp;<strong>FORMAT (5)&nbsp;<\/strong>button. Once you see&nbsp;<strong>Complete\u2026.<\/strong>, the SD card is successfully formatted, and you will be taken back to the main screen.<\/li><li>Press the&nbsp;<strong>SYSTEM&nbsp;<\/strong>button, use the jog wheel to select&nbsp;<strong>SD CARD<\/strong>, then select&nbsp;<strong>SAVE<\/strong>. Make sure you check the&nbsp;<em>With User Sample&nbsp;<\/em>box!<\/li><li>Press the&nbsp;<strong>EXECUTE (5)&nbsp;<\/strong>button to complete the backup.<ul><li>If you wish to name the backup file, then press the&nbsp;<strong>NAME (4)&nbsp;<\/strong>button, rename it, and then press the&nbsp;<strong>EXECUTE (5)&nbsp;<\/strong>button.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Download-the-Firmware-File\">Download the Firmware File<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019ve formatted your SD card and backed up your user data, you must download and transfer the firmware file to the SD card using Roland Cloud Manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Download and install&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.roland.com\/global\/products\/rc_roland_cloud_manager\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Roland Cloud Manager<\/a>.<\/li><li>Launch the software and log in using your Roland account credentials you used during the registration process.<\/li><li>Click&nbsp;<strong>Hardware<\/strong>, choose&nbsp;<strong>V-Drums&nbsp;<\/strong>at the top of the window, scroll down until you see TD-27v2, then click the&nbsp;<strong>Download&nbsp;<\/strong>button.<\/li><li>Navigate to your&nbsp;<em>Downloads&nbsp;<\/em>folder,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/how-to-zip-and-unzip-files\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">extract<\/a>&nbsp;the firmware file, and insert the SD card into your computer (or SD card reader).<\/li><li>Copy and paste only the <strong>UBA.BIN <\/strong>file from the folder over to the root directory of your SD card.<ol><li>Do not transfer the entire folder or the PDF!<\/li><\/ol><\/li><li>Once complete, remove the SD card from your computer (or SD card reader).<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roland.com\/us\/support\/by_product\/td-27\/updates_drivers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2024\/01\/TD27-Firmware-download-page-1024x798.png\" alt=\"TD27 Firmware download page\" class=\"wp-image-1780224\" width=\"512\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2024\/01\/TD27-Firmware-download-page-1024x798.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2024\/01\/TD27-Firmware-download-page-300x234.png 300w, https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2024\/01\/TD27-Firmware-download-page-768x599.png 768w, https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2024\/01\/TD27-Firmware-download-page.png 1062w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Click the image to download the TD-27 firmware.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Update-the-TD-27-Firmware\">Update the TD-27 Firmware<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff5c7\"><strong>IMPORTANT:&nbsp;<\/strong>The firmware update will take approximately 5\u201310 minutes. Make sure you don\u2019t disconnect or power down the module during that time, as it may cause the module to malfunction!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you have the firmware file on your SD card, it\u2019s time to update the TD-27KV2 firmware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Insert the SD card into the module, press and hold the&nbsp;<strong>RECORD&nbsp;<\/strong>button, and turn on the module. Let go of the button once you see the update screen appear.<\/li><li>Press the&nbsp;<strong>RECORD&nbsp;<\/strong>button to begin the firmware update process. Once the update process is complete, turn off the module then turn it back on.<\/li><li>Press the&nbsp;<strong>FACTORY RESET (5)&nbsp;<\/strong>button when prompted then select&nbsp;<strong>OK<\/strong>.
