Follow the instructions below to get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li><a href=\"#Create-a-Roland-Cloud-Account\"><strong>Create a Roland Cloud Account<\/strong><\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#Activate-the-System-Upgrade\"><strong>Activate the System Upgrade<\/strong><\/a><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"#Download-Transfer-and-Install-the-FANTOM-EX-System-Upgrade\">Download, Transfer, and Install the FANTOM EX System Upgrade<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Create-a-Roland-Cloud-Account\">Create a Roland Cloud Account<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The first step in the process is to create a Roland Cloud account. Once that\u2019s created, you must download and install Roland Cloud Manager, where you\u2019ll activate and download the Upgrade. If you already have a Roland Cloud Account and Roland Cloud Manager, skip these steps, and continue to&nbsp;<strong>Activate the Expansion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Log in to your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rolandcloud.com\/roland-account\/login\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Roland account<\/a>. If you don\u2019t have one, you can&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rolandcloud.com\/create\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">create one here<\/a>.<\/li><li>Go to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.roland.com\/global\/products\/rc_roland_cloud_manager\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Roland Cloud Manager download page<\/a>. Click&nbsp;<strong>Download Now<\/strong>.<\/li><li>On the next page, click&nbsp;<strong>Downloads<\/strong>, then choose&nbsp;<strong>Download<\/strong>&nbsp;for the OS you\u2019ll use.<\/li><li>Navigate to your&nbsp;<em>Downloads<\/em>&nbsp;folder. Please note that you must be logged in to your account to register your product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Go to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rolandcloud.com\/roland-account\/key\">Registration page<\/a>. Check out <a href=\"https:\/\/support.roland.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/20283847802907-FANTOM-6-FANTOM-7-FANTOM-8-Do-I-need-to-update-the-system-program-of-my-FANTOM-to-the-latest-version-in-order-to-upgrade-to-FANTOM-EX-?_ga=2.76852115.764773483.1703011869-860948519.1701804462\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Roland\u2019s Knowledge Base article<\/a> to learn more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you have activated the license to your Roland account, you\u2019ll need to format your USB thumb drive. Then you\u2019ll download and install the System Update to your FANTOM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Format the USB Thumb Drive<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff5c7\"><strong>IMPORTANT<\/strong>:Formatting USB thumb drives will erase any stored data, so back up any important files beforehand!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before installing the FANTOM EX Upgrade, you must format the USB thumb drive directly on your Roland FANTOM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Connect your USB thumb drive to the FANTOM\u2019s USB MEMORY port.<\/li><li>Press the&nbsp;<strong>MENU&nbsp;<\/strong>button, select&nbsp;<strong>UTILITY<\/strong>, and choose&nbsp;<strong>USB MEMORY FORMAT<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Press&nbsp;<strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Once it\u2019s formatted, remove the thumb drive from the FANTOM.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3>Download and Transfer Files<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After formatting your USB thumb drive, you must download and transfer the files on your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Connect the newly formatted USB thumb drive to your computer.<\/li><li>Launch Roland Cloud Manager, click&nbsp;<strong>Hardware Instruments<\/strong>, click&nbsp;<strong>Synthesizers<\/strong>, and select&nbsp;<strong>FANTOM-6\/7\/8<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Download the System Update.<\/li><li>Open your <em>Downloads <\/em>folder. Copy all the files starting from <strong>_DATA<\/strong> to <strong>M09x01_GrmnCnct.exz<\/strong>. Paste them to the root folder of the USB thumb drive.<ul><li>Do not paste any files into a folder.<\/li><li><strong>_DATA<\/strong>, <strong>FANTOM_UPA.BIN<\/strong>, and <strong>update<\/strong> are the files that will update your FANTOM.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Copy and paste the <strong>update <\/strong>file to the USB thumb drive.<\/li><li>Unzip <strong>SCENE_EXM007_n_zyme_.zip<\/strong>, <strong>SCENE_FANTOM_EX.<\/strong>zip, and <strong>Wallpaper_FANTOM_EX.zip<\/strong>. Copy and paste the folder to the USB thumb drive.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/how-to-safely-eject-an-external-hard-drive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Safely eject the thumb drive<\/a> from your computer.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3>Update Your FANTOM<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The final step in the process is to update the FANTOM Expansion and Scenes using the files you transferred to your USB thumb drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>FANTOM Expansion Update<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>With the FANTOM turned off, connect the USB thumb drive to the USB MEMORY port.<\/li><li>Press and hold the&nbsp;<strong>WRITE&nbsp;<\/strong>button and turn on the FANTOM. Hold the&nbsp;<strong>WRITE&nbsp;<\/strong>button until you see&nbsp;<em>Insert Memory to External<\/em>&nbsp;on the FANTOM\u2019s display.<\/li><li>The FANTOM will now update. It will take approximately 10 minutes. Do not turn off the FANTOM or disconnect the USB thumb drive during the update process!<\/li><li>Once you see&nbsp;<em>Update (board 1) End\u2026<\/em>,&nbsp;disconnect the thumb drive from the&nbsp;<strong>USB MEMORY&nbsp;<\/strong>port and connect it to the&nbsp;<strong>USB EXTERNAL 1<\/strong>&nbsp;port. It will then update again.<\/li><li>After you see&nbsp;<em>Update (board 2) End\u2026 (1)<\/em>,power down the FANTOM. Disconnect the USB thumb drive.<\/li><li>Turn the FANTOM back on, press&nbsp;<strong>MENU<\/strong>, and select&nbsp;<strong>MENU<\/strong>. Use the first encoder to scroll down to&nbsp;<strong>INFO&nbsp;<\/strong>to confirm you are on the latest FANTOM EX version.<\/li><li>Power down the FANTOM. Connect the USB thumb drive to the&nbsp;<strong>USB MEMORY&nbsp;<\/strong>port.<\/li><li>Press and hold the&nbsp;<strong>TEMPO&nbsp;<\/strong>button and turn on the FANTOM. Keep holding the <strong>TEMPO<\/strong> button down until you see the&nbsp;<em>Expansion&nbsp;<\/em>screen.<\/li><li>Press the&nbsp;<strong>INSTALL&nbsp;<\/strong>knob, then press and hold&nbsp;<strong>SHIFT&nbsp;<\/strong>while using the <strong>UP <\/strong>and <strong>DOWN <\/strong>buttons to select the expansions you wish to install. Once they\u2019re highlighted, press <strong>INSTALL<\/strong>. The expansions will then be updated. The display will show you how long the update will take.<\/li><li>Press the&nbsp;<strong>V-PIANO&nbsp;<\/strong>tab on the display. It should show as&nbsp;<em>EMPTY<\/em>. Press the&nbsp;<strong>INSTALL&nbsp;<\/strong>knob. Highlight the grand piano expansion, then press the&nbsp;<strong>INSTALL&nbsp;<\/strong>knob again.<\/li><li>Follow this process for&nbsp;<strong>ACB EXPANSION<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Power down the FANTOM, but leave the USB thumb drive connected this time.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4>FANTOM Scene Installation<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Once the FANTOM is fully powered down, turn it back on. You will now install the new Scenes.<\/li><li>Press the <strong>MENU <\/strong>button, select <strong>UTILITY<\/strong>, and choose <strong>IMPORT<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Select <strong>IMPORT SCENE<\/strong>, choose the scene folder you want to install, then press <strong>SELECT<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Press <strong>NEXT<\/strong>, select all <em>INIT SCENES<\/em>, then press <strong>EXECUTE<\/strong>.
