The firmware will fix bugs and may add new effects, amp models, and features. The next page will display the firmware version number. Take note of it.<\/li><li>On your Mac or your Windows PC, go to&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fender.com\/tonemaster_pro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fender.com\/tonemaster_pro<\/a>. The link will forward you to the Fender Tone Master Pro Firmware and Pro Control App Updates page.<\/li><li>Check the number on the firmware update download link. If the number is higher than the number of the firmware on your unit, you need to install the new version.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Download-the-New-Firmware\">Download the New Firmware<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>If you are on Windows, you first need to download and install the&nbsp;<strong>Windows ASIO Audio Driver<\/strong>. Go to <a href=\"http:\/\/fender.com\/tonemaster_pro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fender.com\/tonemaster_pro<\/a>, click on the link for the Windows driver, and follow the instructions. No driver is needed if you are on macOS.<\/li><li>Go to <a href=\"http:\/\/fender.com\/tonemaster_pro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fender.com\/tonemaster_pro<\/a> and click on the link to download the new firmware update.<\/li><li>A file with a name similar to&nbsp;<strong>ToneMasterPro_1.4.71.img<\/strong>&nbsp;will download to your computer. This is the firmware file you will install on the Tone Master Pro.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Overview-of-the-Update-Process\">Overview of the Update Process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you perform the firmware update, Fender recommends that you make a backup of all your presets and settings and then perform a factory reset. Here\u2019s the overview:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Use the <strong>Fender Pro Control app<\/strong> on your computer to make a backup of all your presets and settings. You do this by uploading the backup to your <strong>Fender Cloud<\/strong> account.<\/li><li>Perform a factory reset on the Tone Master Pro. This will erase all the presets and settings and return them to how they came from the factory.<\/li><li>Perform the firmware update.<\/li><li>Restore all your settings by using the Pro Control app to download your backup file from the cloud.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Back-Up-Your-Data\">Back Up Your Data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To back up your data, connect your Tone Master Pro to your computer using the USB-C data cable, and use the<strong> Fender Pro Control app on your Mac or Windows PC.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn how to set up the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/fender-tone-master-pro-pro-control-app-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fender Pro Control app in our SweetCare guide<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/fender-tone-master-pro-pro-control-app-guide\/\" class=\"relatedcontent_link\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-related-content\"><div class=\"relatedcontent_block\" style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2024\/06\/20240621_Fender_Tone_Master_Pro_Pro-Control-App_Guide_1600x838_01.jpg);background-size:cover;background-position:center\"><div class=\"relatedcontent_overlay_content\"><\/div><div class=\"relatedcontent-text relatedcontent_content\"><p class=\"relatedcontent_title\" style=\"color:#fff\">Fender Tone Master Pro: Pro Control App Guide<\/p><p class=\"relatedcontent_subhead\" style=\"color:#fff;border:none\"><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/a>\n\n\n\n<p>Perform these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>In the Pro Control app on your computer, click the <strong>Cloud<\/strong> icon in the pane on the left. In the upper-right corner, click the <strong>Person<\/strong> icon and sign in to your Fender account with your user name and password.<\/li><li>Click the <strong>Settings<\/strong> gear icon. <strong>Choose User Preferences<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Click <strong>Backup Presets, Settings, &amp; IRs to Cloud<\/strong>. Wait while the app generates a backup file.<\/li><li>In the next dialog, the app will show a backup file whose name includes today\u2019s date. Click <strong>Backup to Cloud<\/strong>, and wait for the upload to complete.<\/li><li>Quit the Pro Control app, but leave your Tone Master Pro connected to your computer with the USB-C data cable.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Perform-a-Factory-Reset\">Perform a Factory Reset<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff5c7\">IMPORTANT: Performing the factory reset will erase all your custom presets and settings, so make sure you backed up your data to the Fender Cloud in the previous step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are working with a Tone Master Pro with firmware v1.1.100 or lower, you need to do a <strong>factory reset<\/strong> after updating the firmware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are working with a higher firmware number, this step is unnecessary, so you can skip it. We&#8217;ve included these instructions for the sake of being thorough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>On the Tone Master Pro, from the home screen, touch the <strong>Settings<\/strong> gear icon in the upper right corner.<\/li><li>In the <strong>User Preferences<\/strong> view, tap <strong>Factory Reset<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Confirm that you want to proceed by tapping <strong>Reset<\/strong>.<\/li><li>You\u2019ll see the message \u201cFactory Reset complete. Please restart your Tone Master Pro.\u201d<\/li><li>Turn off the power, then turn it back on. It will take a few seconds before you see the message \u201cFactory settings restored,\u201d and then the unit will continue booting up as usual.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Install-the-New-Firmware\">Install the New Firmware<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff5c7\">IMPORTANT: Do not turn off the power on the Tone Master Pro during the update procedure, which takes several minutes. If the power is interrupted your unit may be left in an inoperable state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perform these steps with your Tone Master Pro connected to your computer with the USB-C data cable. Quit the Pro Control app first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>On your Tone Master Pro<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>On your Tone Master Pro, with the power turned off, find the <strong>Firmware Update button<\/strong> on the back panel. This is a small button next to the Phones jack. You must hold the button down while you turn on the power. Hold the button down for 10 seconds while watching the display screen.<\/li><li>The Tone Master Pro will display the&nbsp;<strong>USB Firmware Update Mode<\/strong>&nbsp;screen.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3>On Your Computer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>On your Mac, in a Finder window, or on your Windows PC, on the desktop, you will see a new virtual volume labeled&nbsp;<strong>FENDER_AMP<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Go to your Downloads folder and find the firmware update file ending in&nbsp;<strong>.img<\/strong> that you downloaded in the <strong>Download the New Firmware<\/strong> section above. Drag this file to the FENDER_AMP volume.<\/li><li>The Tone Master Pro will begin the update automatically and will display the&nbsp;<strong>Applying Updates <\/strong>message. This may take several minutes. Do not power off the unit until the display indicates that the update is completed.<\/li><li>The Tone Master Pro will display&nbsp;<strong>Update Complete<\/strong>&nbsp;and ask you to restart the device. Turn the power off and back on.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Restore-Your-Data\">Restore Your Data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most users will not need to restore data after a firmware update. However, if you encounter problems, here&#8217;s how to restore the data you backed up earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>After the firmware update is complete, with your Tone Master Pro connected to your computer via the USB cable, launch the Pro Control app.<\/li><li>Click on the <strong>Cloud<\/strong> icon in the pane on the left. In the upper-right corner, click the <strong>Person<\/strong> icon and sign in to your Fender account with your user name and password.<\/li><li>Click the <strong>Settings<\/strong> gear icon. Choose<strong> User Preferences<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Click <strong>Restore Presets, Settings, &amp; IRs from Cloud<\/strong>.<\/li><li>In the next dialog, the app will show a list of backup files you have created. Find the one you created in the <strong>Back Up Your Data<\/strong> step above. Click <strong>Restore<\/strong>. Wait for the download to complete and for the app to restore the data to your Tone Master Pro.<\/li><li>On your Tone Master Pro, you will see the message \u201cPresets and settings restored successfully.
