You\u2019ve probably asked this question, and for good reason! Keyboard amps and guitar amps both amplify the instrument\u2019s signal. However, keyboard amps have a flatter frequency response, so the output sounds as natural as possible. Guitar amps, on the other hand, have controls to alter and distort the tone, which could affect the tone of your keyboard patches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another big difference is frequency range. Due to the variety of patches you can create on a keyboard, keyboard amps require a broad frequency range to capture the full tone (like a patch with sub-bass layers). Electric and acoustic guitars don\u2019t necessarily rely on low frequencies, so guitar amps have a narrower frequency range. While you can use a guitar amp in a pinch, your keyboard won\u2019t sound as clear as it would with a keyboard amp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mono is good in some situations, but if you have patches that heavily rely on effects, like tremolo or delay, stereo is preferred, as mono output will \u2018choke\u2019 the sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Almost all keyboard amps have a stereo connection that allows you to connect two keyboard amps.
