Register the DDJ-FLX10<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Before getting connected, you must register the DJ controller with Pioneer. Once registered, you will gain access to the necessary software (and software updates) for the controller to work correctly. Keep your Sweetwater invoice handy, as you\u2019ll need to enter some information during registration!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Log into your Pioneer DJ account<\/a>. If you don\u2019t have one yet, create it here<\/a>.<\/li>
- Once logged in, click your name at the top right corner of the page, then click the blue Register Product<\/strong> box.<\/li>
- In the Product Name <\/em>field, type, then select your version of the FLX10.<\/li>
- Enter the Serial Number on the bottom side of the unit, the purchase date, and the place of purchase. Click Register<\/strong>.
<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\nDownload the Software<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
NOTE: <\/strong>The Setting Utility software is included in the driver download on PC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For your DDJ-FLX10 to function correctly with your computer, you must download and install its Setting Utility. The Setting Utility is where you will view and configure any input, output, ASIO (PC only), and FX Banks settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Simply go to the DDJ-FLX10 software download page<\/a>, and download the latest version of the Setting Utility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Activate Serato DJ and rekordbox<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
TIP: <\/strong>Upon registration, rekordbox should be in Hardware Unlock <\/em>mode. This means you just need to connect the FLX10 to your computer and launch rekordbox to activate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The DDJ-FLX10 comes with a free license of Serato DJ Pro and rekordbox. You can download Serato DJ and rekordbox directly from the DDJ-FLX10 Software Information page<\/a>. <\/div>Update the Firmware<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
IMPORTANT: <\/strong>When updating the firmware, connect the DJ controller via the USB-A<\/strong> jack on the rear of the FLX10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pioneer will release periodic firmware updates that often include new features and optimizations to ensure your DDJ-FLX10 performs at its best. You must first check the firmware version currently installed on the DJ controller and compare it to the latest version listed on the website.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n- Connect the DJ controller to your computer, power it on, then launch the Settings Utility application.
- Mac<\/strong>: Applications > Pioneer > DDJ-FLX10 > DDJ-FLX10 Driver Version Display Utility<\/em><\/li><\/ol>
- PC<\/strong>: Start icon > Pioneer > DDJ-FLX10 Settings Utility<\/em><\/li><\/ol><\/li>
- Click the About <\/strong>tab to view the current firmware version.<\/li>
- Go to the DDJ-FLX10 firmware download page<\/a> and find the newest version.
- If your firmware is up to date, there\u2019s no need to install the update.<\/li><\/ol><\/li>
- If your firmware is out of date, download the latest version.<\/li>
- Navigate to your Downloads <\/em>folder. Locate, extract, then launch the Updater application. The right <\/em>Master level LEDs will begin to flash.<\/li>
- Once all the LEDs are lit, click OK <\/strong>in the Updater app, then reboot your DJ controller.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

Setup and Connections<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
The DDJ-FLX10 has plenty of connections and couldn\u2019t be easier to set up. It has the same basic input and output connections as other DJ controllers. Check out our Getting Started Guide<\/a> and DJ Controller Setup Guide<\/a> to learn more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The DDJ-FLX10 as a Dual-audio interface<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
IMPORTANT: <\/strong>Make sure both computers have the FLX10 drivers and the Setting Utility application installed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One thing that sets the DDJ-FLX10 apart is that it is considered a \u201cdual-audio interface.\u201d This means you can connect it to two separate computers simultaneously! This is especially useful if one DJ prefers one piece of software over another, uses a different OS, or prefers using their own computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If two computers are connected, you must use the Source <\/em>switch at the top of each channel to reflect where the audio is coming from. This means that if one DJ is connected to the USB-A <\/strong>port and the other is connected to the USB-B<\/strong>, you will need to switch it to either A <\/strong>or B<\/strong>. Using this switch is also a good troubleshooting step in case you\u2019re not hearing any audio come out of a specific channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>Working with the DDJ-FLX10<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
The DDJ-FLX10 has game-changing features and is phenomenal for any DJ out there. Track Separation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\nTrack Separation allows you to mute and solo specific parts of a track: drums, vocals, and instruments. This essentially treats a regular track as a stem file<\/a>. This is a great feature, especially if you want unique transitions. You can also enter Part Iso <\/strong>mode, which turns the EQ knobs into volume control knobs for each part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- To solo or mute a particular part (or parts) of a track, press the buttons in the Activate Part<\/em> section at the top left of the deck. By default, the decks illuminate white, but when you enable a specific track, you will notice that the deck will change color to reflect that of what\u2019s soloed. For example, if you\u2019ve soloed drums, the deck will change from white to blue.
<\/li>- To enter Part Iso<\/strong> mode, press and hold SHIFT <\/strong>while pressing the CUE <\/strong>button of the track that is currently playing.
- Serato DJ<\/strong>: the HI <\/strong>knob adjusts the vocal level, the MID <\/strong>adjusts the instrument-level, and the LOW <\/strong>knob adjusts the drum level.<\/li><\/ul>
- rekordbox: <\/strong>You must manually assign these. Launch rekordbox, go to Preferences<\/strong>, then navigate to Extensions<\/strong>, TRACK SEPARATION<\/strong>, and choose Layout<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
FX Part Select<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Changing the deck view<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
You can view various track information on the decks when you load tracks into your software. You can change the look by holding SHIFT <\/strong>while pressing the PAGE < <\/strong>and PAGE > <\/strong>buttons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
