Upon registration, you\u2019ll gain access to an extended warranty with Neumann and, more importantly, links to software updates and firmware files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Log into your <a href=\"https:\/\/product-registration.neumann.com\/login\">Neumann account homepage<\/a> and click <strong>REGISTER PRODUCT<\/strong>.<\/li><li>If you don\u2019t have an account, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/product-registration.neumann.com\/?l=en\">Neumann Product Registration<\/a> page and click <strong>Register Now<\/strong>. If you\u2019re a Windows user, the installer also includes the driver so it works correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.neumann.com\/en-en\/file-finder\/?name=MT%2048\">MT 48 download page<\/a> and download the latest software version for your OS.<\/li><li>Navigate to your <em>Downloads <\/em>folder, then locate and launch the Toolkit installer.<\/li><li><strong>Mac users: <\/strong>During installation, you will receive a \u2018System extension blocked\u2019 notification. The connections are straightforward. Depending on what\u2019s connected, you may need to go into the MT 48\u2019s routing settings, but we\u2019ll review that in the <a href=\"#Setup-and-Routing\"><strong>Setup and Routing<\/strong><\/a> section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#ffcfd3\"><strong>IMPORTANT! <\/strong>Be sure the interface is on a flat and solid surface!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Connect the included USB-C power adapter to the USB power jack on the back.<\/li><li>You can also use any USB-C wall adapter.<\/li><li>Use the included USB-C to USB-C or USB-C to USB-A cable to connect the MT 48 to your computer, then turn on the interface.<\/li><li>Connect your monitors to the Main Outs in the back of the unit.<\/li><li>If you have a pair of secondary monitors, connect them to Line Out 3\u20134.<\/li><li>Connect your input devices.<\/li><li>Only use XLR cables when using microphones.<\/li><li>Connect mics and line-level devices to Inputs 1 and 2 and guitars and basses to Inputs 3 and 4.<\/li><li>You must use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/store\/detail\/MT48MidiAdapt--neumann-mt-48-midi-adapter-set\">Neumann MT 48 MIDI Adapter Set<\/a> when connecting your MIDI devices to the GPIO\/MIDI jacks.<\/li><li>To enable phantom power, press the box that corresponds to what input your condenser microphone is connected to, select <strong>PREAMP, <\/strong>then press <strong>48V<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Connect the microphone <em>before <\/em>turning on phantom power. Turn phantom power off <em>before <\/em>disconnecting your microphone.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4>The Interface is Getting Warm!<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The MT 48 will warm up after a period of use, and the performance will drop if it gets too hot. If you begin to receive overload errors or poor performance, press <strong>MENU<\/strong>, select <strong>GENERAL<\/strong>, then scroll down until you see <em>Cooling Mode<\/em>, where you can increase or decrease the fan speed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Neumann MT 48 (Pt. 2\/5) \u2013  Connectivity\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ah1lVF7gXCo?wmode=transparent&amp;rel=0&amp;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Setup-and-Routing\">Setup and Routing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><strong>TIP: <\/strong>You can also access routing settings from the Toolkit software and the Remote Control app if connected to the Internet. To access the Remote Control app, locate the MT 48 Agent logo on your taskbar, then select <strong>LAUNCH REMOTE CONTROL APP<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MT 48 has built-in routing capabilities that you can adjust directly from the touchscreen display. Neumann has also made the routing very intuitive, so you\u2019ll spend less time navigating through menus upon menus and more time recording. In this guide, we\u2019ll show you the basics, but check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.neumann.com\/globalassets\/digizuite\/37701-en-mt_48_instruction_manual_03_2023_en.pdf\">MT 48 Owner\u2019s Manual<\/a> for more advanced routing operation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Press <strong>MENU<\/strong>, press <strong>SETTINGS<\/strong>, then select <strong>USB I\/O<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Enable and disable the inputs that are routed to your computer. When you disable an input type (e.g., Analog In, Optical), the USB channel routing will automatically be updated.<\/li><li>For example, if Analog In is assigned to USB channels 1\u20132 and Optical is routed to 3\u20134, and you disable Analog In, Optical will then switch to USB channels 1\u20132.<\/li><li>Scroll down to <strong>Software Playback<\/strong> and update its settings.<\/li><li>Disable any unused inputs, as you\u2019ll get better quality sound and more optimized workflow while working in your DAW!<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4>Sample Rate and Channel Count<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>To change the sample rate on your MT 48, press <strong>MENU, <\/strong>navigate to <strong>SETTINGS<\/strong>, select <strong>GLOBAL<\/strong>, then update the sample rate. Turn on <strong>Auto<\/strong> if you want the MT 48 sample to match that of your current DAW project automatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At a 48kHz sample rate, you can have up to 32 inputs and 16 outputs.
