With that many available, you can get some unique tones. Selecting sounds is straightforward, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Press <strong>SOUND, <\/strong>then use the <strong>TEMPO\/VALUE <\/strong>knob to scroll through the patches. Once you\u2019ve found the patch you like, press the <strong>SOUND <\/strong>button.<\/li><li>Alternatively, press and hold the <strong>SOUND <\/strong>button, select the bank you want to go to (1\u20138), then use the <strong>TEMPO\/VALUE <\/strong>knob to select the patch.<br><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Selecting-Chords\">Selecting Chords<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The J-6 has hundreds of chord sets that range across many genres. Just press the <strong>CHORD <\/strong>button to turn on chord mode. If you want to change the chord set, press and hold the <strong>SHIFT <\/strong>button, then press <strong>CHORD<\/strong>. Check out <a href=\"http:\/\/static.roland.com\/assets\/media\/pdf\/J-6_eng02_W.pdf#page=25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">page 25 of the Owner\u2019s Manual<\/a> for a complete list of genres and chords available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With both buttons flashing, you can use the <strong>TEMPO\/VALUE <\/strong>knob to scroll through one of the 100 preset chord sets available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Press the <strong>PHRASE\/STYLE <\/strong>button, then use the <strong>STYLE <\/strong>and <strong>VARIATION <\/strong>knobs to change the behavior of the current phrase.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/static.roland.com\/assets\/media\/pdf\/J-6_eng02_W.pdf#page=25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"710\" height=\"1020\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2023\/04\/Roland-J-6-Chord-Set-List.jpg\" alt=\"Roland J-6 Chord Set List\" class=\"wp-image-1777865\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2023\/04\/Roland-J-6-Chord-Set-List.jpg 710w, https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2023\/04\/Roland-J-6-Chord-Set-List-209x300.jpg 209w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 710px) 100vw, 710px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Click the image to view the full list of genres and chords available on the J-6.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Create-a-Pattern\">Create a Pattern<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f3f2f1\"><strong>NOTE: <\/strong>Pattern banks 1\u20132 are preset patterns. This guide will show you how to create a pattern from scratch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While plenty of preset patterns exist on the J-6, you can also create your own. You can use preset chords or create your own chords note by note. Please note that you are limited to four notes per chord!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Press and hold <strong>PATTERN <\/strong>and press <strong>3<\/strong>. The display will now flash <strong>3 &#8211;<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Let go of the <strong>PATTERN <\/strong>button, then press <strong>1<\/strong>. You have now selected an empty pattern (Bank 3, measure 1)<\/li><li>Press <strong>1<\/strong>. You should now see <strong>St.01<\/strong> on the display.<\/li><li>To enter a preset chord, press <strong>CHORD<\/strong>, then select the note.<ul><li>If you want to create your own chord note by note, press the notes you want to be included in your chord.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Once the chord is entered, press <strong>2<\/strong> to move to the next measure.<\/li><li>Follow steps 4 and 5 until you\u2019ve reached the desired pattern length.<\/li><li>Press and hold <strong>SHIFT <\/strong>and press the <strong>EXIT <\/strong>button to exit Pattern Edit mode.<\/li><li>To save the pattern, press and hold <strong>SHIFT<\/strong>, press <strong>WRITE<\/strong>, then press <strong>ENTER<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Backup-and-Factory-Reset\">Backup and Factory Reset<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There may be a time when you run into an issue with the J-6, and you need to perform a factory reset. Before the factory reset, however, you need to back up your data, as anything saved on the unit will be erased during the reset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Factory-Reset\">Factory Reset<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There may be a time when you run into some issues or want a fresh start. To do so, you must perform a factory reset. The process is simple, so follow these steps to perform a factory reset on your Roland AIRA J-6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>With the unit powered off, press and hold the <strong>HOLD <\/strong>button.<\/li><li>Turn on the unit. Once you see <strong>FACt<\/strong> on the display, let go of <strong>HOLD <\/strong>and press the flashing <strong>CHORD <\/strong>button.<ol><li>You will see the progress of the factory reset via the 1\u20138 buttons.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><li>Once the factory reset is complete, all buttons will begin flashing, and you will see <strong>d0nE<\/strong> on the display.<\/li><li>Power cycle the unit to complete the factory reset.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Backup-and-Restore\">Backup and Restore<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you perform a factory reset, you must back up your data. Once the factory reset is complete, you can restore any user data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>Backup<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>With its power off, connect the J-6 to your computer.<\/li><li>Once connected, press and hold the <strong>PLAY <\/strong>button while turning it on.
