Navigating the Roland T-8 menus is simple. Here are a few quick navigation tips when using your T-8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Press and hold <strong>Pattern<\/strong> to switch between banks (the first four step buttons will begin flashing).<\/li><li>Press <strong>Pattern<\/strong> to switch between the 16 patterns, then press <strong>Play<\/strong> to begin playing it.<\/li><li>When the <strong>Pattern<\/strong> button is illuminated and you press another one of the 16 step buttons, it will begin flashing and playing once the current pattern ends.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Create-a-Pattern\">Create a Pattern<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The factory sequences are great to play with, especially when you\u2019re just learning the ropes, but you can overwrite and create your own! Creating a pattern is simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Select the instrument you want to work with.<\/li><li>Press the step button that you wish to add or remove.<\/li><li>Press and hold <strong>SHIFT<\/strong>. Press <strong>E <\/strong>to select steps 1\u201316 or <strong>F <\/strong>to select steps 17\u201332.<\/li><li>Press the <strong>Accent <\/strong>button to add an accent to the step. Please note that the accent is applied to <em>all <\/em>rhythm instruments.<ul><li>To adjust the strength of the accent, press and hold the <strong>Accent <\/strong>button and turn the <em>Tempo <\/em>knob.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Recording-Bass-Notes\">Recording Bass Notes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You will use the 16 step buttons to record basic rhythms. However, you can live-record bass notes while the keyboard is selected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Press the <strong>Bass<\/strong> button, then press <strong>KYBD <\/strong>to enable the keyboard.<\/li><li>Press the <strong>Record <\/strong>button to record arm the track, then press <strong>Play<\/strong> to begin recording. You will see the steps shown on the display.<\/li><li>Press and hold a note to change the length.<ul><li>You can perform a slide in real time by pressing and holding one note, then pressing the note you want to slide to.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Once you\u2019re finished, press the <strong>Record <\/strong>button to stop recording.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>Clearing patterns<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to start with a clean slate, you can clear either the selected instrument or the entire pattern. To do so, press and hold <strong>Shift+A# <\/strong>to clear the whole pattern or <strong>Shift+B <\/strong>to clear a specific instrument.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Applying-Delay-and-Reverb\">Applying Delay and Reverb<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only can you apply delay and reverb globally, but you can also apply them to individual instruments. The <em>Delay <\/em>and <em>Reverb <\/em>knobs control the overall wetness of the effect. To change the delay or reverb time, hold <strong>Shift<\/strong> while turning the knob. Here is how to apply delay to an individual instrument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Press <strong>Shift+C<\/strong> (Delay) or <strong>Shift+Oct- <\/strong>(Reverb).<\/li><li>Select the instrument to which you want to apply the effect.<\/li><li>Use the <strong>Tempo\/Value <\/strong>knob to adjust the send amount, then press <strong>C <\/strong>to exit.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Backup-and-Factory-Reset\">Backup and Factory Reset<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There may be a time when you run into an issue with the T-8, and you need to perform a factory reset. Before the factory reset, however, you need to back up your data, as anything saved on the unit will be erased during the reset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Factory-Reset\">Factory Reset<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There may be a time when you run into some issues or want a fresh start. To do so, you must perform a factory reset. It\u2019s straightforward, as well!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Press and hold the <strong>SLIDE <\/strong>button while turning the unit on.<\/li><li>When you see FACT on the display, the <strong>ACCENT <\/strong>button blinks.<\/li><li>Press the <strong>ACCENT <\/strong>button. Once you see DONE on the display, turn the power off and back on.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Backup-and-Restore\">Backup and Restore<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you perform a factory reset, you must back up your data. Once the factory reset is complete, you can restore any user data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>Backup<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Connect the T-8 to your computer with its power off.<\/li><li>Once connected, press and hold the <strong>PLAY<\/strong> button while turning it on.
