With dedicated knobs and switches for hands-on control, multiple voice modes, a polyphonic sequencer, and onboard delay, the minilogue is as easy to use as it is powerful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of the information in this guide applies to the <strong>minilogue<\/strong> and its limited-edition sibling, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/store\/detail\/MinilogueBass--korg-miniloguebass-4-voice-polyphonic-analog-synthesizer\">minilogue bass<\/a>. This connection does not transmit audio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"MIDI-In-and-MIDI-Out\"><strong>MIDI In <\/strong>and<strong> MIDI Out<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Connect traditional 5-pin DIN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/insync\/midi\/\">MIDI <\/a>cables to transmit and receive MIDI data or to use an external keyboard controller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Sync-In-and-Sync-Out\"><strong>Sync In <\/strong>and<strong> Sync Out<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use 1\/8-inch cables to connect and synchronize with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/store\/search?s=volca&amp;Brand=Korg#search-header\">Korg Volca products<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Audio-In\"><strong>Audio In<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accepts a 1\/4-inch TS jack to input an audio signal from another instrument to be processed through the minilogue\u2019s filters. This is an advanced feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Powering-Up-Your-Korg-minilogue\">Powering Up Your Korg minilogue<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Connect the power supply to an outlet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you turn the power on, connect the Output to your mixer, speakers, or audio interface. Connect your headphones if you need them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure the <strong>Master<\/strong> knob on the front panel is turned all the way down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tap the <strong>Power<\/strong> button. The unit will take a few seconds to boot up. See <strong>Saving a Program<\/strong> in the Owner\u2019s Manual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Master-Controls\">Master Controls<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is where you control the <strong>Master<\/strong> volume, the <strong>Tempo<\/strong> of sequencer playback, and the <strong>Octave<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Slide<\/strong> enables you to manipulate <strong>pitch bend<\/strong> or <strong>modulation<\/strong> depending on how the preset is programmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Program\/Value-knob\">Program\/Value knob<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>Play<\/strong> mode, turn this knob to select different <strong>Presets<\/strong> and <strong>Programs<\/strong>. In <strong>Edit<\/strong> mode, enter values for certain parameters and global settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Synth-Controls\">Synth Controls<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The minilogue utilizes analog subtractive synthesis, where one of two <strong>Oscillators<\/strong> can <strong>modulate<\/strong> the other. The signal goes to a <strong>Mixer<\/strong> and is then modified by the <strong>Filter <\/strong>section. Notes are modulated in time through the <strong>AMP EG<\/strong> (Amplitude Envelope Generator) and the <strong>EG<\/strong> (Filter Envelope Generator). The <strong>LFO<\/strong> (Low-frequency Oscillator) adds further animation by providing vibrato to the <strong>Pitch<\/strong> andtonal changes to the oscillators<strong> (SHAPE)<\/strong> or by modulating the filter <strong>Cutoff<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Voice-Controls\">Voice Controls<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The minilogue architecture provides eight modes. The Voice Mode Depth knob modifies the sound according to the mode selected. The eight modes are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Poly<\/strong>: 4-voice polyphony<\/li><li><strong>Duo<\/strong>: Two pairs of two voices in unison<\/li><li><strong>Unison<\/strong>: Four voices stacked together to create a mono synth<\/li><li><strong>Mono<\/strong>: One voice in true monophonic mode with a sub-oscillator<\/li><li><strong>Chord<\/strong>: Play one key, and the four voices play a pre-programmed triad or seventh chord<\/li><li><strong>Delay<\/strong>: After voice 1 plays, voices 2, 3, and 4 play in sequence according to the delay setting<\/li><li><strong>Arp<\/strong>: Arpeggiator<\/li><li><strong>Side Chain<\/strong>: Lowers the volume of the previously played voice when a new voice is played<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Edit-Controls\">Edit Controls<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Used to edit and save parameters in <strong>Programs<\/strong>.In the Owner\u2019s Manual, see<strong> Edit Mode <\/strong>and<strong> Saving a Program<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Sequencer\">Sequencer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Real-time recording, 16-step polyphonic <strong>Sequencer<\/strong>, and <strong>Motion Sequence <\/strong>allow you to record real-time manipulation of knobs and switches over a sequence and play them back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Delay\">Delay<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Delay effect with highpass filter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Shift-Button\">Shift Button<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Used to access alternate functions using the panel controls. Consult the Owner\u2019s Manual under <strong>Shortcuts using the SHIFT button<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Display\">Display<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The minilogue\u2019s small <strong>Display<\/strong> screen, below the Delay controls, shows parameter information when you are programming a <strong>Preset<\/strong>, a <strong>Program,<\/strong> or a <strong>Sequence<\/strong>. Do this by connecting your minilogue to your Mac or Windows PC with a USB cable and installing and running the <strong>Korg System Updater<\/strong> app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are on Windows, download the <strong>Korg System Updater for Windows<\/strong> and the <strong>minilogue\/Korg USB-MIDI driver for Windows<\/strong> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.korg.com\/us\/support\/download\/product\/0\/544\/\">Korg support website<\/a>. Follow the instructions. You must install the Windows driver before the <strong>System Updater<\/strong> can recognize the minilogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are on Mac, download the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.korg.com\/us\/support\/download\/product\/0\/544\/\">Korg System Updater for Mac<\/a>. Take note of what version of macOS you are running. Korg provides a USB-MIDI driver for older versions of macOS, up to 10.14 Mojave, which came out in 2018. However, if you are running a newer version of macOS, do not install the Korg driver; your Mac will automatically recognize the minilogue\u2019s USB connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you run the System Updater, you need to start up your minilogue in <strong>Update Mode<\/strong>. With the power turned off, hold down the buttons numbered 6 and 8 in the <strong>Voice Mode<\/strong> section on the front panel. Now turn on the power and release the buttons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read the instructions that come with the System Updater before you proceed.
