Upon registration, you will gain access to the X-Monitor software, which you will need when calibrating the speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Log into your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ikmultimedia.com\/userarea\/\">IK Multimedia account<\/a>. The position of your monitors plays a big role in getting a great sound, so be sure they\u2019re set at the proper listening position.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Set up your monitors, connect them to your interface, and turn the volume knob up.<ul><li>The monitor volume doesn\u2019t matter too much, as the test tone is already at an optimized level.<\/li><li>Have the tweeters as close to ear level as possible.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Connect the monitors to the computer when you\u2019re using them with the X-Monitor software.<ul><li>We highly recommend you connect them directly to the computer, as USB hubs will result in an unreliable connection.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/insync\/studio-monitor-placement-5-tips-for-optimal-sound\/\" class=\"relatedcontent_link\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-related-content\"><div class=\"relatedcontent_block\" style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2022\/10\/Studio-Monitor-Placement-Featured-Image-1050x550-1.jpg);background-size:cover;background-position:center\"><div class=\"relatedcontent_overlay_content\"><\/div><div class=\"relatedcontent-text relatedcontent_content\"><p class=\"relatedcontent_title\" style=\"color:#fff\">Studio Monitor Placement &#8211; 5 Tips for Optimal Sound<\/p><p class=\"relatedcontent_subhead\" style=\"color:#fff;border:none\">Many of us who record or mix these days don&#8217;t have the luxury of working in purpose-built control rooms. Here&#8217;s how to make the most of what you have!<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/a>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Calibration\">Calibration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><strong>IMPORTANT: <\/strong>For the most accurate result possible, be sure the room you\u2019re calibrating is as quiet as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After correctly setting up your MTM monitors, you\u2019ll need to calibrate the speakers directly on the monitors or by using the X-Monitor software. When you calibrate your monitors, you\u2019ll need to ensure that the tweeters are in listening position and that the mic and monitors are in an equilateral triangle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"Calibrate-using-your-monitors\">Calibrate using your monitors<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Calibrating your monitors directly on your monitors is a straightforward process. With the press of a few buttons, you\u2019ll be up and running in no time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Place the mic at your primary listening position, then connect the included ARC mic to the <em>ARC MIC IN<\/em> using the XLR to 3.5mm.<\/li><li>Press and hold the <strong>CAL <\/strong>button on the rear of the monitor. After that, click <strong>Identify<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Click the <em>Before <\/em>and <em>After <\/em>buttons to hear the output before and after calibration.<\/li><li>Use the <em>Voice <\/em>dropdown box to select different \u2018voice\u2019 presets. After you\u2019ve calibrated your monitors, you\u2019ll be able to see the frequency before and after correction. When you click one of the <em>Before <\/em>or <em>After <\/em>buttons, you\u2019ll be able to isolate and view the frequency response of the specific monitor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also view and edit the contour curves, which is particularly useful when you\u2019re in a room and you need to fine-tune the room correction. This will result in a failed update and may cause damage to the speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The X-Monitor software will scan for the monitor\u2019s firmware version whenever the monitors are connected to your computer via USB. If new firmware is available, the software will notify you if the monitor\u2019s firmware is out of date. IK Multimedia has simplified the process, so you don\u2019t have to download and transfer files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>If you receive a &#8220;Firmware Update Needed&#8221; window, click <strong>Update Firmware<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Once the firmware update is complete, you should receive a notification that the firmware is up to date.<ul><li>If you\u2019ve received an alert stating the firmware update has failed, power cycle the speakers, then try it again. If the issue continues, you must contact IK Multimedia support.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"Recovery-Mode\">Recovery Mode<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><strong>NOTE: <\/strong>Only one speaker in DFU mode must be connected to the USB port while in Recovery Mode, which means you\u2019ll need to disconnect all other speakers via USB and perform the procedure one monitor at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On rare occasions, there may be a time when the firmware update fails when the speaker(s) are in DFU mode, which is indicated by a solid blue LED on the monitor\u2019s front panel. If this occurs, the controls in X-Monitor will become inoperable. To solve this issue, you\u2019ll need to enter Recovery Mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Open <em>Settings <\/em>within X-Monitor, then click <strong>Recovery<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Follow the on-screen instructions to force the firmware update.<ul><li>Recovery Mode will erase <em>all <\/em>user settings and will perform a factory reset.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0;color:#f2f1f0\"\/>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":1775438,"template":"","categories":[142726,7],"tags":[422670,82694],"storecat":[],"itemids":[390442,390441,390440,399356],"manufacturers":[],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v17.9 -
