All AMS interfaces are bus-powered when connected to a computer, meaning no external power supply is needed. However, they will require external power when used with a mobile device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Connecting-Your-Gear\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Connecting Your Gear<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff5c7\"><strong>ATTENTION WINDOWS USERS: <\/strong>You must download the <a href=\"https:\/\/zoomcorp.com\/en\/us\/audio-interface\/audio-interfaces\/ams-series\/AMS-support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Zoom AMS ASIO driver<\/strong><\/a><strong> <\/strong>before connecting the interface to your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To connect, plug in your Zoom AMS interface with the included USB-C cable directly to your computer. Once connected, update your computer\u2019s audio settings and set your AMS interface as the default playback and recording device.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Turn the <em>Input <\/em>and <em>Output <\/em>knobs all the way down.<\/li><li>Connect the interface to your computer, navigate to your OS sound settings and set it as the default input and output device.<ul><li><strong>PC<\/strong>: Right-click the <strong>sound <\/strong>icon on the Windows taskbar, select <strong>Sounds<\/strong>, then click the <strong>Playback <\/strong>tab. Locate and select the interface, click <strong>Set Default<\/strong>, then click <strong>OK <\/strong>to close the menu. Do the same in the <strong>Recording <\/strong>tab.<\/li><li><strong>Mac<\/strong>: Click the <strong>Apple <\/strong>icon from the Menu Bar and select <strong>System Preferences<\/strong>. Click <strong>Sound<\/strong>, then select the AMS under the <em>Input <\/em>and <em>Output <\/em>tabs.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>If you have a Zoom AMS-44 interface, make sure that the power slider is set to <strong>USB<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Connect your monitors, headphones, and any input devices.<ul><li>If using a condenser microphone, make sure you connect it to the AMS interface <em>BEFORE <\/em>turning Phantom Power (+48V) on.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Play some music or a video, and slowly turn the <em>Output <\/em>knobs to the right until it\u2019s at a comfortable listening level.<\/li><li>Begin playing your instrument or speak into the mic at normal performance level, and turn the associated <em>Input <\/em>knob up to a point where it clips, then turn it down slightly. One for data connection and one to connect a USB-C compatible wall charger or mobile battery, especially for the AMS-22 or AMS-24.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>If you\u2019re an Android user, be sure to check the <a href=\"https:\/\/zoomcorp.com\/media\/documents\/AMS_Compatibility_E.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Zoom Android device compatibility chart<\/a> to ensure your device is fully compatible.<\/li><li>If you own a Zoom AMS-44 and are using battery power with your mobile device, be sure the power slider is set to Battery.<\/li><li>AMS-44 users can use two AA batteries when connected to a mobile device.<ul><li>Continuous operation life differs on what type of batteries are used.&nbsp;<\/li><li>We highly recommend using brand-name batteries for the best performance possible.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Most iPad models nowadays have a USB-C connector. They have made it easy since you only need the interface and streaming service! No additional routing software is necessary, so you have more time entertaining the masses and spend less time setting up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Connect your input and output devices, then connect the audio interface to your <strong>computer <\/strong>or <strong>mobile device<\/strong>.<ul><li>If you own a Zoom AMS-24 or AMS-44, make sure the power slider is set to <strong>Streaming<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Disable <strong>Direct Monitoring<\/strong> on the interface and in the streaming software! If it\u2019s enabled, a feedback loop can occur, resulting in a very loud noise and can cause damage.<\/li><li>Set the <strong>Loopback <\/strong>switch to <strong>ON<\/strong>. This is useful if you\u2019re mixing background music on the computer, as well as the sound input from the interface while streaming live.<ul><li>When you turn the loopback switch on, you can hear the signal being sent to your device in real-time.
