In this article we\u2019ll show you how to register, set up, and connect the BOOM for the first time. Follow the sections below to get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li><a href=\"#Register-the-interface\"><strong>Register the interface<\/strong><\/a><ul><li><a href=\"#Download-the-software\"><strong>Download the software<\/strong><\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><a href=\"#Setup-and-connections\"><strong>Setup and connections<\/strong><\/a><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"#Apogee-BOOM-firmware-update\">Apogee BOOM firmware update<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Register-the-interface\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft noUnderline customh2 swheader\">Register the interface<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before using the Apogee BOOM, you first need to register the interface with Apogee. Upon registration, you\u2019ll get access to free software and, more importantly, the drivers for the interface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Sign into your Apogee account. If you don\u2019t have an account yet, you can <a href=\"https:\/\/apogeedigital.com\/my-account\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">create one here<\/a>.<ul><li>When creating a new Apogee account, check your email for account activation instructions. If you don\u2019t receive the email, be sure to check your spam folder.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Once you\u2019re logged in and on your account page, click <strong>Register New Product<\/strong>.<\/li><li>On the next page, select <strong>BOOM <\/strong>from the dropdown menu, enter the Serial Number located at the bottom of the interface underneath the barcode, then click <strong>Submit<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Download-the-software\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Download the software<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f3f2f1\"><strong>TIP: <\/strong>Once registered, you will receive copies of free software such as Ableton Live Lite and Neural DSP\u2019s Tone King Imperial plug-in. You can download and activate the free bundled software at any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For your Apogee BOOM to work correctly, you will need to download the driver. Apogee Control 2 is included in this download, which is the control software you will use to adjust the input and output mixes, as well as other various tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>On your account home page, click <strong>Download Installers<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Click on the OS you will be using, navigate to your <em>Downloads <\/em>page, then locate and launch the driver installer.<\/li><li>Once the drivers are installed, you can then connect the interface to your computer.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"How to Register BOOM &amp; install software\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/p-FQMgvRK4A?wmode=transparent&amp;rel=0&amp;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>How to Register BOOM and Install Software<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><a href=\"#\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"button flat s blue\">Return to top<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Setup-and-connections\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft noUnderline customh2 swheader\">Setup and connections<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the Apogee BOOM has been registered and its drivers have been installed, the next step is to get everything set up and connected!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f3f2f1\"><strong>TIP: <\/strong>You can also control the input and output settings from the Apogee Control 2 software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Connect the USB cable from the interface to your computer.<\/li><li>Press the <strong>control<\/strong> knob twice to select the output, turn the knob all the way down, then connect your speakers.<\/li><li>Navigate to your computer\u2019s sound settings and set it as the default recording and playback device.<ul><li><strong>PC<\/strong>: Right-click the <strong>Speaker <\/strong>icon on your Windows taskbar and click Sounds. Select <strong>Playback<\/strong>, right-click your interface, and click <strong>Set as Default Device<\/strong> and <strong>Set as Default Communications Device<\/strong>. Lastly, select <strong>Properties<\/strong>, go to the <strong>Advanced <\/strong>tab, and uncheck the boxes under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/how-to-disable-exclusive-mode-in-windows-sound-settings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Exclusive Mode<\/em><\/a>. Click the <strong>Recording <\/strong>tab and follow the same procedure.<\/li><li><strong>Mac<\/strong>: Click the <strong>Apple <\/strong>icon from the Menu Bar and select System Preferences.
