After registering the device, you\u2019ll get free software bundles and offers exclusive to DrumBrute Impact owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.arturia.com\/login#account\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Log in<\/a> to your Arturia account. MCC allows you to update connection settings, transfer patterns, and most importantly, perform firmware updates. Follow these steps to get the software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Download the Arturia MIDI Control Center application <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arturia.com\/products\/hardware-synths\/drumbrute-impact\/resources\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<ol><li>While you\u2019re on that page, download the firmware file if your computer will be offline when you update the firmware.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><li>Open your Downloads folder, double-click the .exe file (<strong>PC<\/strong>) or .pkg file (<strong>Mac<\/strong>) installer file, and follow the on-screen instructions.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Update-the-firmware\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Update the firmware<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Arturia releases firmware updates periodically that often will include new features and also address bugs found in the current version. If you\u2019re connected to the Internet, the process is seamless. However, if your system is offline, you\u2019ll need to download the firmware file from a computer connected to the Internet and then manually install it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"Online-firmware-update\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Online firmware update<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Connect the DrumBrute Impact directly to your computer and turn the unit on.<ol><li>Do not connect it to a USB hub, as the hub may not provide enough power to transfer data to and from the device.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><li>Launch MCC. Use the dropdown box located next to <em>Device <\/em>to select the DrumBrute Impact (top left of the window), then click the <strong>Firmware <\/strong>button. The connections are straightforward, so here are a few things to note when working with the DrumBrute Impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>If connecting to a device using the <strong>Clock In\/Out<\/strong> jacks, you <em>may <\/em>need to adjust the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/insync\/ppqn-pulses-per-quarter-note-parts-per-quarter-note\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PPQ<\/a> within the Device Settings in MCC, particularly if you\u2019re using an earlier Korg machine. Check out the external device\u2019s Owner\u2019s Manual to learn more!<\/li><li>When you connect a cable to an Individual Out, that instrument will be removed from both the Mix Output and Headphones, and the Output Circuit distortion will be bypassed.<\/li><li>If you own an electronic drum kit, you can connect the kit\u2019s MIDI Out to the DrumBrute Impact\u2019s MIDI In to play the Impact\u2019s sounds with your kit. You can create 64 patterns, each of which has up to 64 steps. You can create a pattern three different ways: entering steps individually, recording in real-time, or using the looper\/roller bar. Depending on what you\u2019re recording, you may choose one method over another, but it\u2019s simple no matter what.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f3f2f1\"><strong>TIP: <\/strong>Change the tempo using the <strong>Rate\/Fine <\/strong>encoder. If you want to fine-tune the tempo even further, hold the <strong>Shift<\/strong> button and use the <strong>Rate\/Fine <\/strong>encoder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Step-recording\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Step recording<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Step recording is the easiest way to program a beat as you\u2019re entering notes one step on one instrument at a time. Step recording is useful if you want a simple pattern or if you want to edit a pattern without needing to re-record (when recording in real time).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Press the <strong>Step<\/strong> button, press the instrument pad you want to record, then use the 16 <strong>step <\/strong>buttons to enter the step.<\/li><li>Press the next instrument button and repeat the procedure.<\/li><li>If you want to adjust the accent of a specific step, simply press the <strong>Accent <\/strong>button and press the step button where you want the accent to be applied.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Record-in-real-time\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Record in real time<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While step recording is great, recording in real time is excellent if you need to get your ideas down fast. By default, recording in real time will auto-quantize, but you can always turn it off, giving your patterns a bit more human feel to them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f3f2f1\"><strong>TIP<\/strong>: The instrument pads are velocity sensitive, so if you want accents on specific instruments and steps, simply press the pad harder or softer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Press the <strong>Record <\/strong>button to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/insync\/record-enable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">record enable<\/a> the pattern, then press the <strong>Play\/Pause<\/strong> pad to begin recording.<\/li><li>Begin finger drumming, and once you\u2019re finished, press the <strong>Stop <\/strong>button.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Roller-Step-Repeater\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Roller\/Step Repeater<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Roller\/Step Repeater pad is the best way to record instruments with a repetitive beat, like 16th note hi-hat patterns. You can get very creative because you can change the value while recording (and playing) in real-time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Press the Record pad to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/insync\/record-enable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">record enable<\/a> the pattern, then press the <strong>Play\/Pause<\/strong> button to begin recording.<\/li><li>Press and hold both the instrument and note value you want to record.<ol><li>Slide your finger back and forth on the <strong>Roller\/Step Repeater<\/strong> pad to change note values in real-time.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><li>Once you\u2019re finished, press the <strong>Stop <\/strong>button.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"Saving-your-work\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Saving your work<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019ve created your patterns, you can save them. All you need to do is hold the <strong>Save<\/strong> button and press <strong>Pattern<\/strong>.
