NOTE<\/strong>: When you use Pigments in standalone mode, you will need to close any program using your current audio driver, or else you\u2019ll run into audio distortion and dropouts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After you\u2019ve downloaded, installed, and activated<\/a> your Arturia Pigments virtual instrument, you first need to configure your audio and MIDI settings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Launch the Pigments software, click the three bars at the top left corner of the window, and select Audio MIDI Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>
- Use the dropdown boxes on the left <\/em>side of the window and select your current audio device, buffer size, and sample rate. <\/li>
- Click the Play <\/strong>button to play a test tone to confirm you\u2019re getting a clear sound.
- Optional: <\/em>If you have a MIDI controller connected, select it in the MIDI Settings<\/strong> section of the Settings window.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

Arturia Pigments is a very powerful synth\nvirtual instrument with many settings to play with, which means you can get\ncreative in no time! Navigating Pigments is very easy, too. While there are\nplenty of buttons and knobs to tweak, you can break down Pigment\u2019s main\ncontrols into three sections: the synth engine, the filter, and the modulation\nbar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Synth engine<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

<\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\nThe synth engines, located at the top left of the virtual instrument, are the building blocks of your patch. There are four types of synth engines available for you to use: Analog<\/a>, Wavetable<\/a>, Sample<\/a>, and Harmonic. The great thing is that you can layer two engines together and load up to six samples per engine to make your patch sound more unique! Just click the power <\/strong>button located next to the engine to do this. Follow these steps if you want to use custom samples for an engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Click the Engine tab you want to use (Engine 1 or Engine 2), click the down arrow<\/strong> next to the engine listed (Engine 1 or Engine 2), then select Sample<\/strong>.<\/li>
- Select the sample location (A<\/strong>\u00ad\u2013F<\/strong>), click the space that says, \u201cClick here to add a sample,\u201d then scroll down and select Imported<\/strong>.<\/li>
- Navigate to the folder path where your sample resides, select the sample, then click OK<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
- Select the sample location (A<\/strong>\u00ad\u2013F<\/strong>), click the space that says, \u201cClick here to add a sample,\u201d then scroll down and select Imported<\/strong>.<\/li>
