By doing so, you\u2019ll be able to\naccess all of the bundled software, including the MPC Studio DAW, a\nbundle of virtual instruments, vocal and effects plug-ins, and free\nMPC Beat Packs. Keep your Sweetwater invoice handy, as you\u2019ll need\nit during the registration process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li> Log in to your <a href=\"https:\/\/profile.inmusicbrands.com\/customer\/account\/login\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">inMusic account<\/a>. Your software activation keys and\ninstallers are all located in the MPC Software Manager, which you can\ndownload from your Akai account page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><strong>iLOK ACCOUNT: <\/strong>If you are registering any of the AIR Instrument virtual instruments, then you will need to create a free iLok account during the activation process. Check out our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/air-software-activation-instructions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">AIR Software Activation Instructions<\/a> for more information!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Expand the MPC Studio 2 Installer, located in the Software Downloads section of your Akai account page, and choose the installer for your OS. <\/li><li>Navigate to your Downloads folder and launch the MPC Studio Software Manager. <\/li><li>Follow the on-screen instructions. <\/li><li>Once prompted, click <strong>I have an iLok Account<\/strong>. If you don\u2019t have one yet, keep this tab open and head over to our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/ilok-license-manager-tutorial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">iLok Setup Guide<\/a> to learn how to create one. <\/li><li>Install the driver and firmware by clicking their respective <strong>Install <\/strong>buttons. <\/li><li>Install the MPC 2 software. Akai Professional has made the hardware connection process\nstraightforward. Just use the included USB cable to connect it to\nyour computer, then use the 5-pin MIDI to TRRS adapters to connect\nMIDI devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><strong>CONNECT\nDIRECTLY TO YOUR COMPUTER! <\/strong>The\nMPC Studio is bus powered, which means no external power supply is\nnecessary. Just\npick the instruments you want on each track, then start recording!\nOne great thing is that you can overdub tracks. This is particularly\nuseful for trap beats where the hi-hats have a more complex pattern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Load-an-instrument\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Load an instrument<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You\ncan load a drum kit (Program), an instrument (Preset), templates that\nyou created on previously created songs (Project), factory Sequences,\nand lastly, Samples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Open the Media Browser to pull up any installed expansion libraries. <ul><li> Alternatively, you can press the <strong>B<\/strong> key on your keyboard to open the Media Browser.  <\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Select the expansion library of your choosing, and then load the instrument type (Program, Preset, Project, Sequence, Sample). <\/li><li>Press the <strong>Browse <\/strong>button on your MPC Studio and use the data wheel to scroll through, preview, and select the kit\/instrument\/sample you want to use. <\/li><li>Once you\u2019ve found something you like, press the <strong>data wheel<\/strong> to load it onto a track, then press the <strong>Main <\/strong>button to begin playing. <ul><li> If you\u2019d like to load an additional instrument on the same track, follow the same procedure. Once loaded, press the <strong>Program Select <\/strong>button and use the <strong>data wheel<\/strong> to switch between the instruments.  <\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Press the <strong>Track Select <\/strong>button and follow the steps above to insert an instrument on a new track. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"Replacing-individual-samples\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Replacing individual samples<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You\ncan easily replace individual samples on an instrument. One of the great things about the MPC Studio is that\neverything is done right on the hardware, so there isn\u2019t a need to\nstop a recording to select a new track or to re-record.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>If you haven\u2019t already, enter the main menu by pressing the <strong>Main <\/strong>button. <\/li><li>Hold down the <strong>Tap Tempo <\/strong>button and use the <strong>data wheel <\/strong>to choose the project tempo. <\/li><li>Press the <strong>Record <\/strong>button to arm the track, then press the <strong>Play <\/strong>button to begin recording.&nbsp; <ul><li> Arm the track and press the <strong>Play Start <\/strong>button to record along with a click track.  <\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Once the recorded sequence plays through once, Overdub will automatically be enabled.
