After registering the RC-505, you\u2019ll gain access to BOSS product support, an extended warranty, training videos, and clinic information. Follow the steps below to register the loop station, and then continue below to <strong><a href=\"#Setup-and-connections\">Setup and connections<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Log in to your <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.roland.com\/backstage\/login\" target=\"_blank\">Roland Backstage account<\/a>. It\u2019s pretty straightforward, but here are a few things to\nnote:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Use <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/whats-the-difference-between-ts-and-trs-cables\/\" target=\"_blank\">instrument (TS) cables<\/a> when connecting your device to the inputs. <\/li><li>Connect a smart device or audio player to the AUX jack to record external audio.<\/li><li>If connecting a condenser microphone, you must connect the microphone and turn on phantom power first. To do so, press the <strong>System <\/strong>button, then use the <strong>right <\/strong>cursor button to navigate to Phantom Power. Use the Memory\/Value knob to turn it on, and then press <strong>EXIT<\/strong>. <ul><li>Make sure to connect the microphone before you turn on phantom power!<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Connect an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/store\/detail\/EV5--roland-ev-5-expression-pedal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">EV-5<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/store\/detail\/FS5U--boss-fs-5u-non-latching-footswitch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"FS-5U (opens in a new tab)\">FS-5U<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/store\/detail\/FS6--boss-fs-6-dual-foot-switch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">FS-6<\/a> to the CTL jacks for expression or control.<\/li><li>Use the USB jack to send WAV files to and from your RC-505.<\/li><li>When connecting to a speaker, turn on the power to your RC-505 <em>first<\/em>. When powering down, turn off the power to your RC-505 <em>last<\/em>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"How-to-create-a-loop\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft noUnderline customh2 swheader\">How to create a loop<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Creating loops on an RC-505 is\neasy. With the amount of flexibility it has, the possibilities are endless! You\ncan either record audio to individual tracks or record and overdub on a single\ntrack. Depending on what you want to do, you may choose one over the other, but\nthe process is the same. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\" class=\"has-background\"><strong>TIP: <\/strong>You can change the overdub type by pressing the <strong>MEMORY <\/strong>button several times. Setting it to <em>Overdub <\/em>means it will automatically record and layer over the existing loop. Setting it to <em>Replace <\/em>will overwrite the existing recording.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>With your input device(s) connected, start playing at the level you\u2019re going to perform at and turn the gain up until you start clipping. <ul><li>Once you begin clipping, turn it down a little bit to make sure you have <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/insync\/need-know-headroom\/\" target=\"_blank\">enough headroom<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>(Optional) <\/strong>Use the <strong>INPUT FX <\/strong>to record a track with effects on it. This is particularly useful when using the octave (Guitar to Bass) effect.<\/li><li>Press the <strong>PLAY\/RECORD <\/strong>button on the track you want to record on to begin recording. Once finished, press it again to stop recording. Doing so may make your device permanently\nunusable, and it will need to be sent in for non-warranty repair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One great thing\nabout the BOSS RC-505 is that you can import and use pre-recorded WAV files on\nyour tracks. Before you can import the audio, you\u2019ll first need to download and\ninstall the driver software and also update a few of the RC-505\u2019s USB settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Press the <strong>SYSTEM <\/strong>button, then use the <strong>left <\/strong>and <strong>right <\/strong>arrows to navigate to USB Modeand make sure the setting is set to STORAGE.<\/li><li>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boss.info\/us\/support\/by_product\/rc-505\/updates_drivers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">RC-505 download page<\/a>, then download and install the latest driver version for your OS.<\/li><li>Connect the RC-505 to your computer.
