Once registered, you\u2019ll receive download links for the Apogee Control software, which is necessary for operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Log in to your <a href=\"https:\/\/customer.apogeedigital.com\/?ppage=login\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Apogee account<\/a>. If you don\u2019t see the email, be sure to check your spam folder!<\/li><li>Click on the link provided in the email to download the installer for your OS.<\/li><li>Navigate to your <em>Downloads <\/em>folder, then launch the installer.<ul><li><strong>Mac<\/strong>: Double-click the installer, then follow the on-screen instructions. You will need to reboot your computer after installation is complete.<\/li><li><strong>Windows PC: <\/strong>Right-click the <strong>.zip<\/strong> file and click <strong>Extract All\u2026 <\/strong>to extract the installer, then double-click the <strong>.exe <\/strong>to begin the installation. After installation is complete, restart your computer.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Update-the-firmware\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Update the firmware<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After you\u2019ve completed the installation process, you may be prompted to update the firmware. These updates are released periodically to add new features and address known bugs, so we always advise you to keep your device up-to-date for the most optimized performance possible!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Disconnect the Duet 3 from your computer, and close Apogee Control 2 and any DAW or other software <em>(e.g., browser, music streaming application)<\/em>.<\/li><li>Press and hold the controller knob and reconnect the interface to your computer.<\/li><li>After you see a firmware update notification, you can let go of the controller knob.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Click <strong>Yes<\/strong> to begin the firmware update.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Setting-up-your-gear\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft noUnderline customh2 swheader\">Setting up your gear<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After everything is taken care of, it\u2019s time to get recording! Connecting your gear to the Duet 3 is straightforward, so follow these steps to get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Turn the volume knob all the way down, then connect your speakers.<\/li><li>If you have headphones connected, turn its volume knob all the way down, as well.<\/li><li>Connect the USB cable from the interface to your computer, then power it on.<\/li><li>Navigate to your OS sound settings and set it as the default input and output device.<ul><li><strong>PC<\/strong>: Right-click the <strong>Speaker <\/strong>icon on the Windows taskbar, select <strong>Sounds<\/strong>, then click the <strong>Playback <\/strong>tab. Locate and select the interface, click <em>Set Default<\/em>, then click <strong>OK <\/strong>to close the menu. Do the same in the <em>Recording <\/em>tab.<\/li><li><strong>Mac<\/strong>: Click the <strong>Apple <\/strong>icon from the Menu Bar and select <strong>System Preferences<\/strong>. Click <strong>Sound<\/strong>, then select the Duet 3 under the <em>Input <\/em>and <em>Output <\/em>tabs.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>If applicable, connect your headphones to the jack on the front.<\/li><li>Play some music or a video, and slowly turn the main Volume (and headphone) knob up until it\u2019s at your desired listening level.<\/li><li>Launch your DAW, and select your Duet 3 as the primary playback and recording device.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"Connecting-iPad-and-iOS-devices\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Connecting iPad and iOS devices<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also use your Apogee interface with iPads and other iOS devices. For iPad Pros, just use the included USB-C to USB-C\/A cable.
