Follow\nthe sections below to get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li><a href=\"#Register-the-device\"><strong>Register the device<\/strong><\/a><ul><li><a href=\"#Update-the-TM-2-System-Program-version\"><strong>Update the TM-2 System Program version<\/strong><\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><a href=\"#Setup-and-connections\"><strong>Setup and connections<\/strong><\/a><ul><li><strong><a href=\"#Assigning-samples-to-the-pads\">Assigning samples to the pads<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Register-the-device\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft noUnderline customh2 swheader\">Register the device<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before we get started with your TM-2 module, the\nfirst thing to do is register the product with Roland. By registering the TM-2,\nyou\u2019ll receive an extended warranty, Roland\u2019s product support, and exclusive\ntraining content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Log in to your <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.roland.com\/backstage\/mygear#register_product\" target=\"_blank\">Roland Backstage account<\/a>. If you don\u2019t have one yet, you can <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.roland.com\/backstage\/#\/signup\" target=\"_blank\">create one here<\/a>.<\/li><li>Roland will then send an account activation email to the registered email address to complete the account creation process.&nbsp;<ul><li>If you don\u2019t receive an email, be sure to check your spam folder!<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>On your account home page, click <strong>My Gear<\/strong> and select <strong>Register a Product<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Fill out the required information, including the serial number located on the bottom of the module, and then click <strong>Register<\/strong>.&nbsp;<ul><li>Have your Sweetwater invoice with you, as you will need to enter the purchase date, method, and dealer (Sweetwater).<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Update-the-TM-2-System-Program-version\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Update the TM-2 System Program version<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#fff5c7\" class=\"has-background\"><strong>IMPORTANT:<\/strong> You must format the SD card before transferring the System Program file over. Check out <a href=\"http:\/\/static.roland.com\/assets\/media\/pdf\/TM-2_e02_W.pdf#page=17\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\"><strong>Page 17<\/strong><\/a> of the TM-2 owner\u2019s manual for instructions on how to format SD cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Roland will release updates to the TM-2, which will typically add new features and address any bugs that are present on the current System Program (firmware) version. Before you update the firmware, check the System Program version that\u2019s currently installed and compare it to the latest one listed on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roland.com\/us\/support\/by_product\/tm-2\/updates_drivers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">TM-2 download page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"Check-the-System-Program-version\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Check the System Program version<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Turn the TM-2 on.<\/li><li>Press and hold the <strong>SHIFT <\/strong>button and press <strong>INST<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Use the <strong>arrow<\/strong> buttons to navigate to System, press the <strong>+ <\/strong>button, and select <strong>INFO<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"Update-the-System-Program-version\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Update the System Program version<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Go to the Roland <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.roland.com\/us\/support\/by_product\/tm-2\/updates_drivers\/\" target=\"_blank\">TM-2 download page<\/a> and download the latest System Program listed.<\/li><li>Insert the SD card into your computer, go to your <em>Downloads<\/em> folder, and then extract the TM-2 folder.<\/li><li>Copy and paste the<strong> _BOOTPRG.ES_ <\/strong>file to the SD card\u2019s <strong>root<\/strong> directory, then <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/how-to-safely-eject-an-external-hard-drive\/\" target=\"_blank\">safely unmount the SD card<\/a> from your computer.<\/li><li>With your TM-2 powered off, insert the SD card.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Press and hold the <strong>INST <\/strong>button then power on the TM-2. Not only can you get a unique sound out of your kit, but\nalso, setting it up is a breeze \u2014 which means you\u2019ll be up and running in\nminutes. All you need to do is connect the triggers to the TM-2 using TRS\ncables and select the type of pad you\u2019re using within the module\u2019s settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>If you want to connect two pads to one trigger input jack, then you\u2019ll need a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/store\/detail\/RCC10TR28V2--roland-rcc-10-tr28v2-black-series-1-4-inch-trs-male-to-dual-1-4-inch-ts-male-insert-splitter-cable-10-foot\" target=\"_blank\">TS splitter cable<\/a>. This will allow you to play the head on one pad and play the rim on the other. Please note that when connecting this way, the rim on a dual-zone pad will be disabled.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Connect your pad(s) to the Trigger 1 and Trigger 2 input.<\/li><li>Hold the <strong>SHIFT <\/strong>button and press <strong>INST<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Press the <strong>+ <\/strong>button, then press the <strong>right arrow<\/strong> button to enter the Trigger Setup Type menu.<\/li><li>Press the Trigger 1 or 2 button to select the pad you want to change, then use the <strong>+ <\/strong>or <strong>&#8211; <\/strong>buttons to select what type of pad is connected.<\/li><li>Once you\u2019ve chosen the pad, press <strong>INST<\/strong> to exit to the main screen.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Assigning-samples-to-the-pads\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Assigning samples to the pads<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have everything set up, you\u2019ll be\nable to select the sounds you want to be triggered. You can assign four\nseparate samples at one time and edit each sound. Assigning sounds couldn\u2019t be\neasier, so follow these steps.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\" class=\"has-background\"><strong>CUSTOM SAMPLES: <\/strong>You can import your own sounds via an SD card.
