You\u2019ll need this driver installed so your MV-1 can\ncommunicate properly with your computer. Press one\nof the buttons in the Workflow sections, and you\u2019ll be able to work on\ndifferent aspects of a song, such as recording, arranging, mixing, and\nexporting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Sequence-mode\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Sequence mode<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sequence mode is where you will build the\nfoundation of your song. The 4&#215;4 pads at the top let you play pitched notes,\nand the 16 step sequencing pads at the bottom allow you to enter individual\nsteps, which means a single note will be played on each beat you select. This\nis useful for rhythmic, single-note tracks such as drums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#c9f0ff\" class=\"has-background\"><strong>USE THE SHIFT BUTTON! <\/strong>If you hold the shift button, you\u2019ll gain\naccess to additional functions labeled underneath each button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Press the <strong>Seq<\/strong> button to enter Sequence mode, then press the track you want to work with.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Press the <strong>Value<\/strong> knob to enter the sound selection menu, then use the <strong>Value <\/strong>knob to scroll through and select the instrument you want to load.<ul><li>If you selected the <strong>KIT <\/strong>track and want to change individual drum       sounds, press and hold <strong>Shift<\/strong>, press the pad you want to change,       and then select the sound.<\/li><li>For step sequencing, use the bottom 16 step pads to enter the pattern you want. If you\u2019re going to record live, just press <strong>REC<\/strong> followed by the <strong>Start\/Stop<\/strong> button.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Press the <strong>Style <\/strong>button to create arpeggiated notes. This is especially useful when you want complex rhythms.<\/li><li>If you want to extend the length of the clip, hold <strong>Copy<\/strong> and press the <strong>RIGHT<\/strong> <strong>Measure <\/strong>button.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"Recording-vocals\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Recording vocals<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>When recording vocals, you can use either the onboard microphone or connect one via the XLR jack on the back. If you\u2019re using a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/insync\/condenser-mic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">condenser mic<\/a>, then you\u2019ll need to enable phantom power via the External Input settings. Check out <a href=\"http:\/\/static.roland.com\/assets\/media\/pdf\/MV-1_eng01_W.pdf#page=31\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">page 31 of the owner\u2019s manual<\/a> for more details. Please note that you cannot use a condenser mic when the MV-1 is connected to your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Arrange-the-sections-and-song\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Arrange the sections and song<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After you create a sequence, you can then\nenter <strong>Section<\/strong> mode, which is where you will arrange clips to create\nparts such as an intro, bridge, or chorus. After you\u2019ve made these sections,\nyou can then go into <strong>Song <\/strong>mode and arrange all of your sections to turn\nit into a song.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Press the <strong>Section <\/strong>button, press the <strong>Section Select<\/strong> button, then press an empty section (1\u201316) to create a new sequence. Follow this process until you\u2019re finished.<\/li><li>After all of the sections have been created, press the <strong>Song <\/strong>button.<\/li><li>Press one of the 16 step buttons, and then press the sequence you want to be played on that specific measure.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"Do-you-want-to-erase-specific-instruments-in-a-section\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Do you want to erase specific instruments in a section?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have a sequence that has multiple sounds,\nbut you just want one to play for a specific section, you can erase the parts\nwithout trying to re-create the same pattern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Hold <strong>Copy<\/strong> and use the 4&#215;4 pads to copy the number of instruments you      have.&nbsp;<\/li><li>For example, if you have drums, bass, and one lead, Hold <strong>Copy<\/strong>, then press the second and third pads.<\/li><li>Press the instrument(s) you want to erase from that section, then press <strong>Clear<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Make a Song in Under 10 Minutes with the Roland VERSELAB MV-1 Song Production Studio\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DBuX_cDCTdU?wmode=transparent&amp;rel=0&amp;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Make a Song in Under 10 Minutes with the Roland VERSELAB MV-1&nbsp;Song Production Studio<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Save-and-export\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Save and export<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019re happy with your song, the last step\nis to save it to your SD card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a straightforward process.
