Once registered, you\u2019ll be able to access their premium plug-in bundle! You don\u2019t have to create an account, either. When you run the installer,\nTotalMix FX is also installed. TotalMix FX is the standalone software where you\ncan access advanced routing parameters and I\/O settings, change the monitoring\nmix, and more.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rme-usa.com\/downloads.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">RME download page<\/a>, then use the dropdown boxes to select the Babyface Pro FS driver download for your OS.<ul><li>Now would be a good time to download the <a href=\"#Update-the-firmware\">firmware file<\/a>, as well.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Navigate to your Downloads folder, then extract and run the installer.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"macOS-users\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">macOS users<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you recently upgraded to Big Sur or if your\nMac has an M1 chip, then you will need to download the compatible driver, boot\nyour computer in Recovery mode, and update your security utility\nsettings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rme-usa.com\/rme-macos.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">RME\u2019s guide<\/a> for details on how to install the driver. When you downloaded the driver, you should\nhave downloaded the flash updater, as well. If not, do so at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Launch the flash updater tool once the\ndownload is complete. It should tell you whether your Babyface Pro FS is\nupdated or not. If the dialogue screen displays \u201cNot updated,\u201d click the <strong>Update\n<\/strong>button and wait until it has been completed. The following instructions apply when using the Babyface Pro FS in standalone mode (outside of TotalMix FX). If you plan on using TotalMix FX to update any of your settings, check out our guide on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/how-to-use-rme-totalmix-fx\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">how to use RME TotalMix FX<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Connect your gear and speakers to the Babyface.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Navigate to your OS sound settings and set the Babyface as the default input and output device.<ul><li><strong>PC<\/strong>: Right-click the <strong>Speaker <\/strong>icon on the Windows taskbar, select <strong>Sounds<\/strong>, then click the <strong>Playback <\/strong>tab. Locate and select the interface, click <strong>Set Default<\/strong>, then click <strong>OK <\/strong>to close the menu. Do the same in the Recording tab.<\/li><li><strong>Mac<\/strong>: Click the <strong>Apple <\/strong>icon from the Menu Bar and select <strong>System Preferences<\/strong>. Click <strong>Sound<\/strong>, then select the Babyface Pro FS under the Input and Output tabs.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Use the <strong>OUT <\/strong>and <strong>IN <\/strong>buttons to select the channels you want to control.<\/li><li>Play some music or a video, and slowly turn the jog wheel until it\u2019s at a safe listening level.<\/li><li>Launch your DAW and select your Babyface Pro FS as the primary playback and recording device.<ul><li>If you want to do your routing inside your DAW and not TotalMix FX, switch TotalMix FX to DAW mode. The orange LED will reflect which sets of inputs and outputs are currently being controlled.<\/li><li>Press the <strong>SET <\/strong>button to engage phantom power (+48V).<\/li><li>Change the monitoring mix by following these instructions:<ol><li>Press the <strong>OUT <\/strong>to select the output for the monitoring.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Press the <strong>IN <\/strong>button to select the input with the signal that you want to be monitored.<\/li><li>Press <strong>MIX<\/strong>.
