If you accidentally\nexit out of a menu, any data will be erased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><span style=\"color: #143b74;\" class=\"ugb-highlight\">How to save your Juno-DS presets<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<ol><li>Press the <strong>WRITE <\/strong>button, use the jog wheel to select the performance or patch you want to save, then press <strong>ENTER<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Use the jog wheel to change the letter and use the left and right arrow buttons to switch between letters. Press <strong>ENTER <\/strong>to confirm the name.<\/li><li>After you have named your performance or patch, use the jog wheel to select a USER INIT slot, press <strong>ENTER<\/strong>, and finally, highlight <strong>OK <\/strong>and press <strong>ENTER <\/strong>to save the performance or patch.\u00a0<\/li><\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Selecting-sounds\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft noUnderline customh2 swheader\">Selecting sounds<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Selecting\nsounds on the Roland Juno-DS is straightforward. Press one of the nine category\nbuttons, then use the jog wheel to select the sound you want. To make things\neasier, you can access a full list of sounds simply by pressing the <strong>ENTER<\/strong>\nbutton.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Create-a-split\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Create a split<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When\ncreating a split, you\u2019re assigning two sounds to a different range of keys on\nthe keyboard. This means you can play one instrument with your left hand, and\nanother with your right hand. Creating splits is especially useful in\nsituations where you want to play a lead and bass line at the same time. For\nexample, the low range (bass line) could be C1 to F4, and the high range (lead)\ncould be F#4 and above.&nbsp;Creating a split patch is the same as a Dual\nperformance. Press the <strong>SPLIT <\/strong>button, then choose your instrument. This is where you can create and edit layered patches. You can\nalso create key splits and arpeggios and adjust the transposition and octave\nshift. In this section of the article, however, we\u2019ll focus on the Dual\noperation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Dual-performance\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Dual performance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When\nyou create a Dual performance, you\u2019re layering up to 16 separate patches onto\none performance. For example, you can have a grand piano and a bass guitar\nsound play at the same time. Follow these steps to create a Dual performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<ol><li>Press the <strong>PATCH\/PERFORM <\/strong>button, then press <strong>DUAL<\/strong>.<ul><li>Patch mode will trigger one instrument and Perform mode will trigger from two to 16 instruments.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Use the up and down arrow buttons to highlight the sound you want to change.<\/li><li>Press the category button of the instrument where your desired sound      resides.<\/li><li>Use the jog wheel to select your sound. One great\nthing about them is that you can control individual patch levels to get a\nperfect blend of range and layer per patch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<ol><li>Press the <strong>DUAL<\/strong> button to enter Dual mode.\u00a0<\/li><li>Press <strong>MENU<\/strong>, navigate to <strong>EDIT<\/strong>, then choose <strong>PERFORMANCE EDIT<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li><li>If you can\u2019t navigate to <strong>PERFORMANCE EDIT<\/strong>, back out and press the <strong>DUAL <\/strong>button again. <\/li><li>Highlight the <strong>PRESET <\/strong>tab and use the up and down arrows to select the patch layer (1\u201316).\u00a0<\/li><li>Use the jog wheel to select the instrument for that particular patch.<\/li><li>Once you have added all of the patches you want, press the up arrow to highlight the patch tab again.<\/li><li>Use the left and right arrows to change the various layered performance settings.<\/li><\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Split and layer ranges<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like a split, you can assign each patch to a specific range. Unlike a split, though, you can layer patches over one another. Doing this will give a much fuller and dynamic sound to your performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<ol><li>Select the <strong>KBD <\/strong>tab while in the <strong>PERFORMANCE EDIT <\/strong>options.\u00a0<\/li><li>Use the up and down buttons to select a patch;
