It\u2019s the software that you\u2019ll use in conjunction with the RD-6. When you connect the RD-6 to your computer and launch the app, you\u2019ll be able to change various MIDI settings such as the default MIDI input and output channels, update the firmware, and even create sequences! Behringer will release firmware updates periodically, including new features and bug fixes to the currently installed firmware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Connect the RD-6 to your computer, power it on, launch the SynthTribe app. You should see your device with a yellow<strong> Get Started<\/strong> button.&nbsp;<ul><li>If the RD-6 isn\u2019t recognized in the Synthtribe app, disconnect and reconnect the device. If that doesn\u2019t work, try a different cable and port.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Click the <strong>Update <\/strong>tab. The SynthTribe app will scan and check which firmware version is currently installed.<ul><li>If a firmware update is necessary, follow the instructions on the screen. If you\u2019re up to date, you can close out of the SynthTribe app.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"RD-6-setup-and-connections\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft noUnderline customh2 swheader\">RD-6 setup and connections<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#ffe46e\"><strong>IMPORTANT: <\/strong>Behringer recommends that you <strong>only <\/strong>use the included 9V power supply. Using a third-party DC power supply may not be reliable and may cause damage to your unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Connections on the Behringer RD-6 are straightforward. All of the rear audio output jacks <em>(both the <\/em><strong><em>VOICE OUT <\/em><\/strong><em>and <\/em><strong><em>MIX OUT<\/em><\/strong><em>) <\/em>are all unbalanced mono connections. Because of this, you\u2019ll need <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/c818--Unbalanced_Cables\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">unbalanced cables<\/a>.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Audio\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Audio<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>When a cable is connected to a <strong><em>VOICE OUT<\/em><\/strong><em> <\/em>jack, that particular voice is removed from the <strong><em>MIX OUT<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li><li>Use the <strong><em>VOICE OUT <\/em><\/strong>jacks to connect specific voices to an audio interface or a mixer.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"External-hardware-analog\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">External hardware (analog)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can integrate your external hardware such as sequencers and synthesizers with the RD-6. You can use the 3.5mm TS Sync jacks to connect to external hardware via analog clock. Use the 3.5mm <strong><em>TRIGGER OUT <\/em><\/strong>jacks to have the <em>L.H Tom <\/em>send a pulse to trigger an external device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"MIDI\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">MIDI<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Another option to integrate your external hardware is MIDI, which can connect to a MIDI interface for DAW synchronization. To control the external gear, connect a MIDI cable from the <strong>MIDI OUT<\/strong> port on the RD-6 to the MIDI IN port on the external device.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If syncing with an external device, you first must change the MIDI channel on the RD-6. By default, the RD-6 transmits on MIDI Ch. 1. To change it, press the <strong>SCALE FUNCTION <\/strong>and <strong>PATTERN GROUP <\/strong>buttons, then press one of the steps to select the respective MIDI channel <em>(e.g., Step button number 5 is also MIDI channel 5)<\/em>. If you want to change the length, press and hold the <strong>FUNCTION <\/strong>button and select the end step.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once all of your hardware is set up and connected, it\u2019s time to create a drum pattern! Similar to its predecessor, you can create <strong>32 <\/strong>patterns on <strong>eight <\/strong>different tracks. Creating a pattern is simple, so follow these steps to get up and running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Turn the <strong>MODE <\/strong>knob to <em>Write <\/em>in the <em>Pattern <\/em>section.<\/li><li>Use the <strong>TRACK\/INSTRUMENT <\/strong>knob and select the instrument you want to program.<ul><li>Record in realtime by pressing the <strong>TAP <\/strong>button.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Use the <strong>1-2-3-4 <\/strong>switch to change the number of steps per quarter note: quarter notes <strong>(position 1)<\/strong>, half notes <strong>(position 2)<\/strong>, 16th note triplets <strong>(position 3),<\/strong> and 8th note triplets <strong>(position 4)<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Press the <strong>START\/STOP <\/strong>button, then use the 16 step buttons to enter the instrument\u2019s rhythm.<\/li><li>Switch to the next instrument you want to program and follow the same instructions.<\/li><li>Once you\u2019re finished, press the <strong>START\/STOP <\/strong>button to stop.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Create-a-pattern-chain\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Create a pattern chain<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As mentioned, the default pattern length is 16 steps long. However, by grouping patterns together, you can create <em>Pattern Chains. <\/em>This means you can program up to <strong>256 <\/strong>steps in one sequence! The process is straightforward, too. While you\u2019re in either <strong>PATTERN WRITE <\/strong>mode or <strong>PATTERN PLAY <\/strong>mode, all you need to do is press and hold the first and last pattern buttons.
