These free updates fix bugs and may add new features, capabilities, models, and effects. New features include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Drum Machine<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The drum machine is an onboard module for solo practice, songwriting and performance, with 16 drum kits, 134 styles and 15 genres, featuring sounds by Alesis and BFD. You can control fills, transitions and accents in real time via footswitch. The firmware comes with one drum kit. You can easily download the additional kits over your Wi-Fi connection; they take up about 512MB of storage within the unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Tidal Integration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have a DJ Extension account with the Tidal subscription-based music streaming service, you can log in and stream thousands of songs and playlists directly on your HeadRush unit, no computer or phone needed. This provides a practice tool, where you can shift pitch or tempo independently and set loop points for playback while learning songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>New Amp Models and Effects<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>5.0 provides three new ReValver amp models with matched cab IRs, new overdrives, and improved pitch shifting and vocal harmonizer effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Other Quality of Life Improvements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Access the HeadRush Cloud directly from your unit\u2019s Wi-Fi connection within the HeadRush Remote web browser editor, to share rigs and clones with other users. Other improvements include an Auto-Engage expression pedal mode, a new Block Mix parameter, and more. Of course there are minor user interface and performance improvements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s HeadRush\u2019s video introducing the new features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"What&#039;s new in the HeadRush Firmware 5.0 Update?\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uHdfP6vwLb8?wmode=transparent&amp;rel=0&amp;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>HeadRush FX: What&#8217;s new in the HeadRush Firmware 5.0 Update?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Check-Your-Firmware-Version\">Check Your Firmware Version<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Check your unit to find out what version of the firmware it\u2019s running. If there\u2019s a newer version on the HeadRush website, then you\u2019ll want to update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>On your unit, press the&nbsp;<strong>Menu<\/strong>&nbsp;icon at the top-left of the display, and select&nbsp;<strong>Global Settings<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Press&nbsp;<strong>Info<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Go to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.headrushfx.com\/downloads\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HeadRush Downloads page<\/a>&nbsp;and look up your unit\u2019s model (Prime, Core, or Flex Prime). Compare the firmware version on your unit to the latest version of the Firmware Updater listed on the Downloads page.<\/li><li>If they match, then you\u2019re good to go! If they don\u2019t, then continue below to update the firmware.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Back-Up-Your-Presets-First\">Back Up Your Presets First<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>HeadRush advises that before you install a firmware update, you should make a backup of your presets to your Mac or your Windows PC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s an overview. You back up your presets by connecting your HeadRush unit to your Mac or your Windows PC with a USB data cable and putting the HeadRush into USB Transfer mode. On your computer, you\u2019ll see a new HeadRush drive icon. When you open this drive, you\u2019ll see the files stored on your HeadRush unit. Copy these files to your computer to make backups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow this procedure:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>If you are on Windows, go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.headrushfx.com\/downloads.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HeadRush Downloads page<\/a> and find the listing for your HeadRush model. Download and install the Windows driver. No driver is needed if you are on macOS.<\/li><li>Connect your HeadRush unit to your computer using a USB data cable and an adapter (if needed).<\/li><li>With your computer powered on, power on your HeadRush unit using its power switch.<\/li><li>On your HeadRush touchscreen, tap the <strong>Menu<\/strong> icon in the upper-left corner. Then tap the <strong>USB Transfer<\/strong> icon.<\/li><li>In the Mac Finder or the Windows File Explorer, you\u2019ll see a new icon labeled \u201cHeadRush.\u201d<\/li><li>Open the <strong>HeadRush<\/strong> drive icon. You can now copy files to a folder on your computer. Be careful, however, that you are copying files and not dragging them out of the HeadRush drive icon \u2014 this may actually delete files from your HeadRush unit. Any changes you make to the contents of the HeadRush are immediate.<\/li><li>When you are finished copying files, don\u2019t unplug the USB cable. Rather, you must select the HeadRush drive icon and perform the Eject procedure for Mac or Windows in order to make sure that files don\u2019t get corrupted. If you aren\u2019t sure how to do this, here are our SweetCare instructions: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/how-to-safely-eject-an-external-hard-drive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">How to Safely Eject an External Hard Drive<\/a>.<\/li><li>Once you have safely ejected the HeadRush drive on your computer, go to the HeadRush unit\u2019s touch screen. Tap <strong>Sync<\/strong> to commit any changes.<\/li><li>The HeadRush unit will display a meter to indicate its progress in syncing files. The last screen you were on before going into USB Transfer mode will reappear when the process is finished. Do not disconnect or power off the HeadRush unit until the process is complete.<\/li><li>You can now disconnect the USB cable.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more in the <strong>User Guide<\/strong> for your model of HeadRush unit under <strong>Operation &gt; USB &gt; Transferring Files &amp; Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"HeadRush-Prime,-Core,-and-Flex-Prime-Firmware-Update\">HeadRush Prime, Core, and Flex Prime Firmware Update<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two methods for updating the firmware. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first is automatically, over Wi-Fi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your unit is starting out with an older firmware version and doesn\u2019t prompt you to update automatically, then you can use the second method, which involves connecting your HeadRush unit to your Mac or your Windows PC using a USB cable and downloading the firmware-updater utility from the HeadRush website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Automatic-Firmware-Update-over-Wi-Fi\">Automatic Firmware Update over Wi-Fi<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The HeadRush Prime, HeadRush Core, and HeadRush Flex Prime all use Wi-Fi. When connected to the internet, they will prompt you if there\u2019s a firmware update available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>If you didn\u2019t connect to a Wi-Fi network when you first powered on your HeadRush unit, then press the&nbsp;<strong>Menu<\/strong>&nbsp;icon, select&nbsp;<strong>Global Settings<\/strong>, and press&nbsp;<strong>Wi-Fi<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Locate and connect to your local Wi-Fi network. Use its passcode if prompted.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>If the unit informs you that there\u2019s an update available, stop and select <strong>Cancel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, make a backup of your presets to your computer according to the instructions in the section above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you\u2019ve got a backup, it\u2019s safe to proceed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>Go back to the <strong>Global Settings<\/strong>, tap <strong>Firmware Update<\/strong>, and select <strong>Via Wi-Fi<\/strong>.<\/li><li>The device will reboot and go through the firmware-update process. Be patient, and don\u2019t unplug or power down your unit until the display informs you that the process has completed.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Manual-Firmware-Update-over-USB\">Manual Firmware Update over USB<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff5c7\"><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> Make sure you are downloading the firmware updater for your model of HeadRush, and not a different model, to avoid any problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2023\/03\/HeadRush-Prime-Firmware-Update-Download.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"528\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2023\/03\/HeadRush-Prime-Firmware-Update-Download-1024x528.jpg\" alt=\"HeadRush Prime Firmware Update Download\" class=\"wp-image-1784630\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2023\/03\/HeadRush-Prime-Firmware-Update-Download-1024x528.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2023\/03\/HeadRush-Prime-Firmware-Update-Download-300x155.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2023\/03\/HeadRush-Prime-Firmware-Update-Download-768x396.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2023\/03\/HeadRush-Prime-Firmware-Update-Download-1536x792.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2023\/03\/HeadRush-Prime-Firmware-Update-Download.jpg 2002w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Downloading the Mac or Windows updater for the newest version of the firmware for your HeadRush model<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you see that you have a firmware version lower than 5.0, and your HeadRush does not prompt you to update, you can do so manually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure to back up your data first according to the instructions above. Then proceed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff5c7\"><strong>IMPORTANT:<\/strong> Be patient during the firmware update. Do not quit the app on your computer, and do not disconnect the USB cable until the app informs you that the firmware update has been completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol type=\"1\"><li>On your computer, go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.headrushfx.com\/downloads.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HeadRush Downloads page<\/a>. Locate the listings for your model.<\/li><li>If you are on Windows, first download and install the <strong>HeadRush Windows Driver<\/strong>. There is no driver to install for macOS.<\/li><li>Download the \u201c<strong>READ ME<\/strong>\u201d file for the firmware update. Take note of its instructions.<\/li><li>Download the newest <strong>Firmware Updater app<\/strong> for macOS or Windows.<\/li><li>Extract the downloaded file, and you\u2019ll see the app on your computer. <\/li><li>Connect your HeadRush unit to your computer using a USB data cable and an adapter (if needed). Power on your HeadRush unit using its power supply.<\/li><li>On your HeadRush unit\u2019s display screen, tap the <strong>Menu<\/strong> icon in the upper-left corner of the <strong>Main<\/strong> screen, and then tap the <strong>Firmware Update<\/strong> icon.<\/li><li>On the <strong>Firmware Update<\/strong> screen, you will be prompted to shut down your HeadRush unit and update the firmware. Select <strong>Yes<\/strong>. After restarting, the HeadRush unit\u2019s display screen will show \u201cUpdate\u201d at the bottom edge.<\/li><li>On your computer, launch the HeadRush firmware-updater app that you downloaded in the step above.<\/li><li>When the Updater window appears, click <strong>Update<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Do not disconnect or power off the HeadRush unit, or your computer, until the app indicates that the update has been completed.<\/li><li>The Updater app window will display \u201cDone.\u201d Your HeadRush unit will reboot.<\/li><li>On your computer, click <strong>Done<\/strong> to close the Updater app.<\/li><li>When the HeadRush unit reboots, you will see the new version number of the firmware at the bottom of the screen. These provide reference material for the Remote Editor and the other new features. Whenever you update the firmware, check to see if there\u2019s a new version of the User Guide for your model on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.headrushfx.com\/downloads.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HeadRush Downloads page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you have updated the firmware automatically over Wi-Fi or through the USB connection to your computer, you will also want to download the \u201cREAD ME\u201d file for the firmware update.
