There\u2019s so much to do with the Iridium, so in this guide we will show you how to set up and use the Iridum for the first time. Place it at the <em>front <\/em>of time-based effects for a unique tonal character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Iridium is a guitar pedal that&#8217;s very versatile in its connections. Depending on your application, you may want to connect it one way over the other, but no matter how you connect, it&#8217;s straightforward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Connect your guitar to the <strong>IN <\/strong>jack with a standard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/c786--Guitar_Instrument_Cables\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">TS instrument cable<\/a>.&nbsp;<ul><li>If you have an incoming stereo signal, you&#8217;ll need a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/store\/detail\/YPP117--hosa-ypp-117-stereo-breakout-1-4-inch-trs-to-dual-1-4-inch-tsf-6-inch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">\u00bc&#8221; stereo splitter cable<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Set the switch to select the audio input.<ul><li><strong>MONO<\/strong>: Used for mono signals.<\/li><li><strong>STEREO<\/strong>: Used for Stereo output signal.<\/li><li><strong>SUM<\/strong>: Used when you want a stereo <em>input <\/em>to be summed down to a mono <em>output<\/em> <em>(connect to the OUT L jack when set to SUM.)<\/em><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Connect the pedal to a powered full-range speaker.<ul><li>If you&#8217;re connecting it to the main PA system, connect the Iridium to a DI box, then the DI box to the PA system.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>If you want to record your guitar using the Iridium pedal, use a standard TS instrument cable to connect from the pedal&#8217;s output to the input of your audio interface.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"> <a href=\"#\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"button flat s blue\">Return to top<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Power-up-modes\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft noUnderline customh2 swheader\">Power up modes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While the Iridium may look like just another typical guitar pedal, there\u2019s a lot under the hood that requires you to navigate through some menus. You\u2019d think it\u2019d be a little complicated since there\u2019s no display, but it\u2019s surprisingly easy at how you can update settings. There are quite a few different menus available, but in this guide, we\u2019ll focus on three important ones: the level, output level, and expression pedal. To learn about all of the modes, check out the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.strymon.net\/manuals\/Iridium_UserManual_RevC.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">user manual for more information<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>To enter any power up mode, the Iridium <strong>must <\/strong>be powered<strong> off <\/strong>beforehand.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Input-level\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Input level<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The input level menu lets you switch between instrument and line level signal. By default, it\u2019s set to instrument level signal <em>(guitars and basses)<\/em>. To switch it to line level signal, follow these steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Press and hold the <strong>FAV <\/strong>switch while powering the Iridium on. Once both LEDs begin flashing, you can let go of it.<\/li><li>Turn the <em>DRIVE <\/em>knob, so the knob\u2019s notch is in the red.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Press either footswitch to exit and store the input level.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Output-level\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Output level<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Output level menu is where you will change how the output signal will be routed. You can bypass the amp and room, bypass the cab and room, or leave all processing active.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Press and hold the <strong>ON <\/strong>switch while powering the Iridium on. Once both LEDs begin flashing, you can let go of it.<\/li><li>Turn the <em>DRIVE <\/em>to set it to the mode you\u2019d like:<ul><li><strong>Green LED <em>(Amp bypass mode)<\/em>:<\/strong> Amp simulation processing is disabled, but the cab and room processing is active.<\/li><li><strong>Yellow LED <em>(Cab bypass mode)<\/em>: <\/strong>The amp and room processing is active, but the cab simulation processing is disabled.<\/li><li><strong>RED LED <em>(Normal)<\/em>: <\/strong>Room, cab, and amp simulation processing are all active.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Press either footswitch to exit and store the output level.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"How-to-set-up-an-expression-pedal-with-the-Iridium\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">How to set up an expression pedal with the Iridium<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-background\" style=\"background-color:#05629c;color:#ffffff\"><strong>TIP: <\/strong>Expression pedal settings are saved per preset. This means you can have the pedal control the post signal volume on one preset and use it as an expression pedal on another preset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are three different ways to program an expression pedal with the Strymon Iridium: Expression, Volume PRE, and Volume POST. You\u2019ll need to enter the mode while powering on and then switch to the respective setting you wish to change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>With the Iridium powered off, connect an expression pedal to the EXP jack.<\/li><li>Press and hold the <strong>FAV <\/strong>footswitch and power the Iridium on. After you see the <em>FAV <\/em>and <em>ON <\/em>LEDs flash, let go of the <strong>FAV <\/strong>footswitch.<\/li><li>Use the <em>LEVEL <\/em>knob to switch between functions:<ul><li><strong>Green LED<\/strong>: Expression<\/li><li><strong>Yellow LED<\/strong>: Volume PRE<\/li><li><strong>Red LED:<\/strong> Volume POST<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Press either <strong>ON <\/strong>or <strong>FAV <\/strong>footswitch to exit. You\u2019re now ready to update your expression pedal settings.<\/li><li>Press and hold both footswitches until both LEDs flash green.<\/li><li>Put the expression pedal to the <em>HEEL <\/em>position. The <em>FAV <\/em>LED should be flashing green.<\/li><li>Set the knob <em>(or knobs)<\/em> of the settings you wish to control while in the HEEL position of the pedal. The <em>FAV <\/em>LED should now flash red.<\/li><li>Place the expression pedal to the <em>TOE <\/em>position. The <em>ON<\/em> LED will flash green.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Repeat <strong>step 7,<\/strong> then press the <strong>ON <\/strong>or <strong>FAV<\/strong> footswitch to exit and store the newly programmed expression setup.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\">  <a href=\"#\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"button flat s blue\">Return to top<\/a>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"How-to-use-the-Strymon-Impulse-Manager\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft noUnderline customh2 swheader\">How to use the Strymon Impulse Manager<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f3f2f1\"><strong>NOTE: <\/strong>For the best sound possible, IR\u2019s should be 24-bit 96kHz WAV files that are up to 500ms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Strymon Iridium can store up to 9 presets at once. If you want to load different imports, you\u2019ll use the Strymon Impulse Manager. You can also name, save, create a custom collection, and update the left and right channel levels and EQs.
