Once you register the interface, you\u2019ll get exclusive content and product support from Black Lion Audio. Keep your Sweetwater invoice handy, as you\u2019ll need that during the process.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blacklionaudio.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Black Lion Audio<\/a> website, then click <strong>Register Product.<\/strong><\/li><li>Log into your Black Lion Audio account. However, if you\u2019re using a Windows PC, you\u2019ll need to download its driver from the Black Lion website beforehand. Follow the instructions below to download the driver. If you\u2019re a Mac user, skip this section and continue to <strong>Set up and connect your gear<\/strong>.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Go to the Revolution product page on Black Lion&#8217;s website.<\/li><li>Scroll down and click to expand <strong>Windows Drivers &amp; Control Software<\/strong>.<\/li><li>After the download is complete, navigate to your <em>Downloads <\/em>folder, launch the installer <strong>.exe<\/strong> file, and follow the on-screen instructions.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Set-up-and-connect-your-gear\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft noUnderline customh2 swheader\">Set up and connect your gear<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f3f2f1\"><strong>TIP<\/strong>: We highly recommend connecting your interface directly to your computer, preferably a USB 2.0 port. USB hubs may not provide enough power to your interface, resulting in connectivity issues, and connecting to a USB 3.0 port may result in connectivity issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Black Lion Revolution is a powerful tool in the studio. The hardware setup is simple, which means you\u2019ll be making music in no time!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Turn the Volume knob all the way down, then connect your speakers.<ul><li>If you have headphones connected, turn its volume knob all the way down, as well.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Connect the USB cable from the interface to your computer, then power it on. The USB LED on the interface will light up.<\/li><li>Navigate to your OS sound settings and set it as the default input and output device.<ul><li><strong>PC<\/strong>: Right-click the <strong>Speaker<\/strong> icon on the Windows taskbar, select <strong>Sounds<\/strong>, then click the <strong>Playback<\/strong> tab. Locate and select the interface, click <strong>Set Default<\/strong>, then click <strong>OK<\/strong> to close the menu. Do the same in the <em>Recording<\/em> tab.<\/li><li><strong>Mac<\/strong>: Click the <strong>Apple<\/strong> icon from the Menu Bar and select <strong>System Preferences<\/strong>. Click Sound, then select the Revolution under the <em>Input<\/em> and <em>Output<\/em> tabs.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>If applicable, connect your headphones to the jack on the front.<\/li><li>Play some music or a video, and slowly turn the main Volume (and headphone) knob up until it\u2019s at your desired listening level.<\/li><li>Launch your DAW, select your Black Lion interface as the primary playback and recording device.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"S-PDIF-connections\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">S\/PDIF connections<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One unique feature of the Black Lion Revolution is that it has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/insync\/s-pdif\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">S\/PDIF<\/a> connections, which isn\u2019t seen on many two-channel interfaces. These S\/PDIF connections allow you to increase your channel count by connecting the Revolution to another digital device via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/c840--SPDIF_Cables\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">S\/PDIF cables<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Connecting another device to your Revolution via S\/PDIF is just a matter of connecting the cables, syncing both devices, and then setting up the routing within your DAW. As intimidating as it might sound, it\u2019s a straightforward process.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"S-PDIF-In\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">S\/PDIF In<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Using a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/c840--SPDIF_Cables\">S\/PDIF cable<\/a>, connect an external device\u2019s S\/PDIF output to your Revolution\u2019s <em>S\/PDIF IN<\/em> socket.<\/li><li>Set all devices in your system to the same sample rate (44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, etc.).<\/li><li>Set your clock settings so that all devices are receiving a clock signal from the Revolution.<\/li><li>Route the signal in your DAW and assign your track\u2019s input to S\/PDIF.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"S-PDIF-Out\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">S\/PDIF Out<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Using a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/c840--SPDIF_Cables\">S\/PDIF cable<\/a>, connect your Revolution\u2019s S\/PDIF OUT socket to a device\u2019s S\/PDIF input.<\/li><li>Set all devices in your system to the same sample rate (44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, etc.).<\/li><li>Set your devices\u2019 clock settings so that all devices are receiving clock signal from a single master device.<\/li><li>Route the signal in your DAW and assign your track\u2019s input to S\/PDIF.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Is-the-Revolution-not-showing-up\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Is the Revolution not showing up?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the Revolution isn\u2019t showing up when connecting it to your computer, reconnect the interface by unplugging and plugging it back in. If you have not done so yet, try reconfiguring the USB connections so that the Black Lion interface is connected directly to your computer. If the problem persists, try a different USB port or cable.
