When you open the box, the first thing you\u2019ll need to do is register the device with TASCAM. Once you register the interface, you\u2019ll get exclusive content and product support from TASCAM. Keep your Sweetwater invoice handy, as you\u2019ll need that during the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All you need to do is go to the TASCAM product registration page<\/a> and fill out the information, including the purchase date and the serial number of the interface.

When you register your TASCAM US-HR interface, you\u2019ll receive a free copy of SampleTank 4 SE, Cubase LE, and Cubasis 3 LE, as well as a three-month subscription to Auto-Tune Unlimited. Before connecting the interface to your computer, you\u2019ll first need to download and install the TASCAM interface\u2019s standalone software. The software allows you to update I\/O and direct monitoring settings, view device information such as the current playback sample rate, and update power and Broadcast volume <\/em>settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Go to the TASCAM product page<\/a>, then navigate to and select the US-HR interface you\u2019re using.<\/li>
- Click Downloads<\/strong>, then download the Settings Panel<\/em> application for your OS.<\/li>
- Go to your Downloads <\/em>folder, then extract and launch the installer file.
- PC<\/strong>: Right-click the us-hr_settingspanel_vxxx_win.zip <\/strong>file, select Extract all\u2026<\/strong>, and then click Extract<\/strong>. Open the decompressed folder, double-click the extracted .exe file, and follow the on-screen instructions.<\/li>
- Mac<\/strong>: Double-click theus-hr_settingspanel_vxxx_mac.zip<\/strong> file to unzip it and double-click the .dmg<\/strong> file. In the window that appears, double-click the .pkg<\/strong> file and follow the on-screen instructions.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\nHow to set up and connect the interface<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Now that everything is taken care of, it\u2019s time to set up and connect the interface! The interface can be bus-powered while using it on your computer, but if connected to an iOS device, you will need to use the included power supply. We do recommend connecting it directly to your computer, as USB hubs may not be able to transfer data and power fast enough, resulting in connectivity issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Turn the LINE OUT 1-2<\/em> knob down, then connect your speakers.
- If you plan on using headphones, turn its volume knob down, as well.<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
- Connect the USB cable from the interface to your computer, then power it on. The USB LED on the interface will light up.<\/li>
- Navigate to your OS sound settings and set it as the default input and output device.
- PC<\/strong>: Right-click the Speaker <\/strong>icon on the Windows taskbar, select Sounds<\/strong>, then click the Playback <\/strong>tab. Locate and select the interface, click Set Default<\/strong>, then click OK to close the menu. Do the same in the Recording <\/em>tab.<\/li>
- Mac<\/strong>: Click the Apple <\/strong>icon from the Menu Bar and select System Preferences<\/strong>. Click Sound<\/strong>, then select the US-HR interface under both the Input <\/em>and Output <\/em>tabs.<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
- If applicable, connect your headphones to the jack on the front.<\/li>
- Play some music or a video, and slowly turn the LINE OUT 1-2<\/strong> (and headphone if applicable) <\/em>knob up until it\u2019s at your desired listening level. <\/li>
- Launch your DAW, select your interface as the primary playback and recording device.<\/li>
- Create an audio track, begin recording, and use the Monitor Balance<\/em> knob to balance out what you hear.
- The more the knob is turned towards Input<\/em>, the more you\u2019ll hear yourself (and less of what\u2019s being played back.)<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
Is your interface not showing up?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If the interface isn\u2019t showing up when connecting it to your computer, reconnect the interface by unplugging and plugging it back in. If you have not done so yet, try reconfiguring the USB connections so that the TASCAM interface is connected directly to your computer. If the problem persists, try a different USB port or cable.
