Before you get set up and connected, the first thing you\u2019ll want to do is register your Revelator with PreSonus. By registering the microphone, you\u2019ll receive a free copy of Studio One Artist. Make sure you have your Sweetwater invoice, as you\u2019ll need to enter the purchase date during the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\n\n\n\n- Log into your PreSonus account. If you don\u2019t have one yet, click Create Account <\/strong>underneath the Login <\/strong>button.<\/li>
- On your account homepage, click Register a Product<\/strong>, then use the dropdown box to select Hardware<\/strong>. <\/li>
- Select the purchase date shown on your Sweetwater invoice, enter the Serial Number<\/strong>, then click Register<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Universal Control is the standalone app for PreSonus hardware. Universal Control also unlocks all of the advanced features for the Revelator and also allows you to perform firmware updates that PreSonus will release periodically.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n- Go to your PreSonus account home page, click Products<\/strong>, then click Hardware<\/strong>.<\/li>
- Click View More Details<\/strong>, then click Download installer<\/strong>.
- PreSonus automatically detects which OS you\u2019re using, so if you plan on using a different OS or if the OS listed is incorrect, use the dropdown box underneath Select your operating system<\/em> to select the correct one.<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
- Navigate to your Downloads<\/em> folder, run the Universal Control installer, and follow the on-screen instructions.
- PC<\/strong>: Double-click the .exe<\/strong> file to begin the installation process.<\/li>
- Mac<\/strong>: Double-click the .dmg<\/strong> file, then double-click the .pkg<\/strong> to begin the installation process.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Once you have the Revelator registered, it\u2019s time to connect the Revelator to your computer. The Revelator must be selected as your computer\u2019s primary audio device to get it to work correctly. For most applications, this will be done from Sound Settings<\/em> (Windows) or Sound Preferences<\/em> (Mac). Most streaming and recording software have their own sound settings, so when using the PreSonus Revelator, you\u2019ll need to make sure that it\u2019s selected as the primary input and output device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n\n- Right-click the speaker <\/strong>icon on the Windows toolbar, then click Sound<\/strong>.<\/li>
- Click the Playback tab, right-click on the Revelator, click Set as Default Playback Device<\/strong>, and then select Set as Default Communication Device<\/strong>.<\/li>
- Right-click on the Revelator again, choose Properties<\/strong> and then click on the Advanced <\/strong>tab.<\/li>
- Uncheck the \u201cAllow applications\u2026<\/strong>\u201d box within the Exclusive Mode<\/em> section, click Apply<\/strong>, then click OK<\/strong>. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

- Choose your Revelator in both the Input <\/em>and Output<\/em> tabs.

<\/div>\n\n\n\nHow to adjust the levels on a Revelator<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Adjusting the mic, headphone, and monitor levels on your Revelator are all done with the press of a button, then using the Volume <\/em>knob. Once all of your levels are set, you\u2019ll be ready to go!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mic level<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\n\n\n\n- Press and hold the Monitor <\/strong>button. When the knob turns green, you\u2019ll be controlling your mic level. <\/li>
- Talk into the Revelator with your normal speaking voice.
- If the knob flashes red, your microphone is clipping, and you\u2019ll need to turn it down.<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
- Once you\u2019ve found a reasonable level, wait approximately five seconds, or press the Monitor <\/strong>button to exit.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
Headphone level<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\n\n\n\n- Press the Monitor <\/strong>button so that the knob isn\u2019t lit. <\/li>
- Press the knob to mute the mic. Once pressed, the knob should turn red.<\/li>
- Play some audio from your computer, and turn to adjust the headphone level to the desired amount.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\nMonitor level<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\n\n\n\n- Press the Monitor <\/strong>button so that the knob turns blue.<\/li>
- Start playing audio from your computer while speaking into the Revelator.<\/li>
- Use the knob to blend the input signal from your mic and the output coming from your computer.
- Turn the knob left to increase the mic’s monitoring signal and turn it to the right to increase the signal coming from your computer.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

What sets the Revelator apart from the rest is the ability to create and load mic presets. There are four built into the mic, four that PreSonus made, and eight user-created slots. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
TIP: <\/strong>To bypass the presets, press and hold the Preset <\/strong>button on the Revelator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n- Launch the Universal Control software, then click Revelator<\/strong> at the bottom to access the Preset Management<\/em> window. <\/li>
- Click on the slot of the preset you want to change.<\/li>
