Before you get everything set up and connected, you\u2019ll first need to register the Carbon. After it\u2019s registered, you\u2019ll receive a 1-year Pro Tools subscription license with a <strong><em>Perpetual Parachute<\/em><\/strong>, the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.avid.com\/plugins\/avid-complete-plugin-bundle\" target=\"_blank\">Avid Complete Plugin Bundle<\/a>, which includes AIR effects and instruments, UVI Falcon 2, Melodyne 5, and standard Avid support.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the registration process, you\u2019ll need to create an <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/activating-and-installing-pro-tools-software-upgrade-and-support-plan\/#CreateAvidaccount\" target=\"_blank\">Avid account<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/ilok-license-manager-tutorial\/#How-to-create-an-iLok-account\" target=\"_blank\">iLok account<\/a> and choose whether you have a current Pro Tools license or not. After you\u2019ve registered the hardware, Avid will then provide you with activation codes and instructions for your bonus third party software. Follow these steps to register your Pro Tools | Carbon.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Before-you-register-your-Pro-Tools-Carbon-interface\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Before you register your Pro Tools | Carbon interface:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a few essential things you need to know before registering your Pro Tools |Carbon with Avid.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The Pro Tools license includes what\u2019s called a <strong><em>Perpetual Parachute<\/em><\/strong>. This means the current version of Pro Tools in your account will never expire.&nbsp;<\/li><li>If you choose not to renew your Pro Tools license after the one year subscription period, the license will automatically change to a perpetual license.&nbsp;<ul><li>This means you\u2019ll only be able to use the version of Pro Tools you currently have activated <em>(i.e., Pro Tools 2020.11)<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Pro Tools Ultimate users aren\u2019t eligible for the <strong><em>Perpetual Parachute<\/em><\/strong><em>.<\/em><\/li><li>If you wish to continue receiving access to Pro Tools updates and any of the third-party software bundles, you\u2019ll need to purchase a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/store\/detail\/PTSubAnn-e--avid-pro-tools-with-1-year-of-updates-and-support-plan-1-year-subscription-download\" target=\"_blank\">1-year subscription<\/a>.<\/li><li>You can switch to a subscription license at any time during the <strong><em>Perpetual Parachute<\/em><\/strong>, but you\u2019ll have to purchase the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/store\/detail\/PTSubAnn-e--avid-pro-tools-with-1-year-of-updates-and-support-plan-1-year-subscription-download\">1-year subscription plan<\/a>.<\/li><li>For more information, refer to the chart below and also check out <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/avid.secure.force.com\/pkb\/articles\/en_US\/FAQ\/Carbon-FAQ?retURL=%2Fpkb%2Fapex%2FKB_Render_Download%3Fid%3DkA2310000007DK9%26lang%3Dja_1_1_2_2_1_2_2_1_1_2&amp;popup=true\" target=\"_blank\">Avid\u2019s Carbon FAQ page<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"How-a-Pro-Tools-Carbon-subscription-works\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">How a Pro Tools | Carbon subscription works<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As mentioned above, you receive a Pro Tools license which includes a <em><strong>Perpetual Parachute<\/strong><\/em>. Here is how it works:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div style=\u201dpadding: 10px;\u201d>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>If you&#8217;re a new Pro Tools user, you receive a 1-year Pro Tools subscription with a Perpetual Parachute. <\/li><li>If you currently have an active Pro Tools subscription, you can either  receive a new 1-year subscription or a 1-year subscription extension.<\/li><li>If you currently have an expired subscription, you will receive a new 1-year subscription with a Perpetual Parachute. Alternatively, scan the QR code using your mobile device.<ul><li>Your Carbon interface will automatically be registered at that time.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Enter your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/activating-and-installing-pro-tools-software-upgrade-and-support-plan\/#CreateiLokaccount\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">iLok account credentials<\/a>. You can purchase a three-year hardware extension for your Pro Tools | Carbon.
