When performing a factory reset on your Impact, all user presets will be deleted, so before performing the reset, you\u2019ll want to back up any preset files via SysEx. Backing up Nektar Impact series presets requires you to transfer them via SysEx on your computer. If you&#8217;re not familiar with SysEx and how it works, keep this tab open and please check out our guide on <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/how-do-i-send-and-receive-sysex-on-pc-or-mac\/\" target=\"_blank\">how to send SysEx files on Mac and PC<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div style=\"padding: 10px;\">\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Connect your Impact to your computer and power it on.<\/li><li>Hold the <strong>Shift<\/strong> and <strong>Patch &gt;<\/strong>, then press <strong>Setup<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Open your SysEx software and set it up, so it&#8217;s receiving <em>(recording) <\/em>the incoming data.<\/li><li>Press the <strong>G4 <\/strong>key on the keyboard to begin the SysEx data transfer.
