Connect the Raven MTi2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
IMPORTANT<\/strong>: Make sure your computer\u2019s graphic driver is up to date, or you may run into glitches!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When you take your Raven MTi2 out of the box, you must first set up and connect it to your computer using the cables included in the box. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Please note that you must purchase quality, brand-name adapters if you don\u2019t have the correct ports on your computer. Also, if you don\u2019t have enough connections on your computer and need to use a hub, make sure it\u2019s powered. Passive hubs do not provide enough power to transfer data to and from your Raven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Connect the HDMI and USB cables from the Raven to your computer, ensuring the connections are secure.<\/li>
- Power on the Raven.
- If the power light is green, you\u2019re good to go. However, if the power light is orange, there is either a connection issue with your graphics card or your computer\u2019s graphics driver is out of date.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
Create iLok and Steven Slate Audio Accounts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
For the Raven MTi2 to work correctly with your computer, you must first register the device with Slate Media Technology. Once it\u2019s registered, you will gain access to the drivers and Raven software necessary to use your device within your DAW. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
NOTE: <\/strong>If you already have an iLok and Steven Slate Audio account, skip these steps and continue to Register the MTi2<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Create iLok Account<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
The Raven MTi2 software is licensed with iLok. You\u2019ll need to link its iLok license to your iLok USB dongle<\/a> to use it. If you don\u2019t have an iLok account, you must create one and install the iLok License Manager app. Follow the steps below to get started. If you already have an account, skip these steps and continue below to create a Steven Slate Audio account. Learn more about iLok licensing in our iLok Setup Guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Visit iLok\u2019s registration page<\/a> and complete the registration form. Take note of your User ID and password, as both are case-sensitive.<\/li>
- Download and install the latest version of the iLok License Manager application<\/a>.<\/li>
- Launch the software and sign in to your iLok account.
- (Optional) <\/em>Connect an iLok USB dongle. When prompted, click Yes <\/strong>to register it to your account.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

Once you have created an iLok account, you must create an account with Steven Slate Audio and link it to your iLok User ID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Log into your Steven Slate Audio account<\/a>. If you don\u2019t have an account yet, click SIGN UP<\/strong> and follow the account registration instructions.
- Check your spam folder if you don\u2019t receive an account verification email!<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
- Once you\u2019re logged in, hover over your name on the top right, click Account Settings<\/strong>, then click iLok Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>
- Type in your iLok User ID, then click Verify<\/strong>. Steven Slate Audio will email you a verification code. <\/li>
- Open your email inbox in a new tab, copy the verification code you received, then go back to the Steven Slate Audio account tab and paste it into the Verification Code <\/em>field.
- Make sure you enter the iLok User ID exactly <\/em>how you created it, or else the license may be sent to the incorrect iLok account.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

IMPORTANT<\/strong>: During registration, you will be prompted to select the DAW you want to authorize. Be sure to choose the correct DAW to use your MTi2. If using multiple DAWs, you must purchase additional Raven DAW licenses directly from your Steven Slate Audio account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Once you have created your iLok and Steven Slate Audio accounts, you must use the Passcodecard included in the box to register your Raven MTi2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Go to your Steven Slate Audio account page. Click Add Products<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>
- Enter the included Passcode (which can be found on a card in the product\u2019s box), click Submit<\/strong>, then select the DAW you want to authorize.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

- Launch the iLok License Manager software. Log in using your iLok account credentials.<\/li>
- Click the\u00a0Available\u00a0<\/strong>tab and locate the Raven license.<\/li>
- Right-click the license, choose\u00a0Activate<\/strong>, then select where to activate the license (iLok USB dongle only<\/strong>).<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
Download and Install the Raven Software<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Now that you have registered and activated everything, you must install the Raven software. The installer includes the Raven standalone software, V-Control, and UPDD drivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Go to your Steven Slate Audio account<\/a>.<\/li>
- Click RAVEN<\/strong>, then select the installer for your OS.<\/li>
- Navigate to your Downloads <\/em>folder, then locate and launch the installer.
- PC users<\/strong>: do not <\/strong>reboot your computer when prompted during installation. Only reboot it from the Start <\/strong>menu after the software installation is complete.<\/li>
- Mac users<\/strong>: macOS users may be required to enable the Override Malware Protection setting<\/a> for the Raven application.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
Neyrinck V-Control<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
IMPORTANT! <\/strong>Neyrinck\u2019s V-xc Pro driver software is necessary for the Raven to function correctly. You can download the V-Control Pro software here<\/a> if you get a blank screen or an error while installing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IMPORTANT! <\/strong>Every version of Mac OS X and macOS had System Preferences<\/strong>. Ventura changes the name to System Settings. <\/strong>The Slate installers refer to System Preferences, but it\u2019s System Settings if you are on Ventura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Raven installer has the Raven standalone software and drivers so the device can work correctly. This means you will have to adjust and enable a few system settings during the installation process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- When you launch the installer, the Raven standalone software will install.
- Three other installers will appear during installation: Python, UPDD, and V-Control.<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
- Once the Raven standalone software has finished installing, run the Python installer and follow the on-screen instructions.<\/li>
- Next, launch the V-Controller installer and follow the on-screen instructions.<\/li>
- Lastly, launch the UPDD installer. <\/li>
- During the UPDD installation, you will be prompted to open Security Preferences<\/em> (Open Security Preferences) and Accessibility<\/em> (Open System Preferences) within Privacy & Security. <\/li>
- Click the Open Security Preferences<\/strong> button in the System Extension blocked <\/em>notification window.<\/li>
- Once in the Security & Privacy menu, click the lock <\/strong>icon, enter your system credentials, and click Allow<\/strong> to let UPDD access the system.<\/li>
- Click the Open System Preferences<\/strong> button in the Accessibility Access <\/em>notification window.<\/li>
- In the window that appears, scroll down and click the radio buttons for updd<\/em> and UPDD Commander<\/em> to enable access.<\/li>
- While in the Privacy<\/em> tab of Accessibility<\/em>, click the + <\/strong>button to add the DAW you will be using, Raven Software, Automator, V-Control Pro, and Terminal (located in the Utilities <\/em>folder).<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
Installing Raven Software on Windows PC<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Installing the Raven Software on your Windows PC is straightforward, as all the drivers will be installed during the process. The only changes you\u2019ll need to make are if you use multiple monitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- When you launch the installer, there will be a checklist of all drivers and software you can install. Leave everything checked. If you are using an MTi1, check the Raven Touch Driver <\/strong>box.
- When the UPDD driver is installed, you will be prompted to reboot. Click No<\/strong> to let the Raven software complete installation.<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
- Right-click anywhere on your desktop and select Display Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>
- Click Identify<\/strong>, click the MTi2, then scroll down and select Make this my main display<\/strong>.<\/li>
- Right-click anywhere on the taskbar, select Taskbar settings<\/strong>, then turn on Automatically hide taskbar in desktop mode<\/strong>.<\/li>
- Open the system tray on the taskbar, right-click the UPDD hand icon<\/strong>, and select Calibrate<\/strong>.<\/li>
- Follow the on-screen prompts displayed on the MTi2 to configure the touch settings.
- If the configuration display doesn\u2019t appear after touching the center, open Configure <\/strong>again to complete the process.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
Launch Your DAW Using the Raven Software<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Now that you have completed the software installation and setup process, you can use it within your DAW. All you need to do is launch the V-Control Pro software, then launch the Raven software. From there, press Open <\/strong>next to your DAW\u2019s icon, and you\u2019re all set. Here are a few tips to ensure everything runs correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Be sure to launch V-Control before <\/em>opening the Raven software each time you launch Pro Tools.<\/li>
- If you receive an error stating, \u201cToo many DAWs are running,\u201d be sure you have the latest version installed.<\/li>
- If you\u2019ve launched in the correct order but still receive an error stating that V-Control isn\u2019t responding, check your system to ensure the Bonjour <\/strong>service is running.<\/li>
- Mac users only: <\/strong>You may be required to enable the Override Malware Protection settings<\/a> for the Raven application.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Update DAW Preferences<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
For the Raven MTi2 to work correctly within your DAW, you must first update some of its preferences. This includes MIDI, peripheral, and mixer settings. Once these changes have been made, you can use your Raven to its full potential!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pro Tools<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
- Launch the Raven software. Press Open<\/strong> next to the Pro Tools icon.<\/li>
- Go to Setup<\/strong>, navigate to MIDI<\/strong>, and select MIDI Input Devices\u2026.<\/strong><\/li>
- Check all the boxes that contain V-Control <\/em>and V-Pain<\/em>, then click OK<\/strong>.<\/li>
- Go to Setup<\/strong>, select Peripherals<\/strong>, and click MIDI Controllers<\/strong>.<\/li>
- Create three HUI devices, set the number of channels to 8<\/strong>, and update the following settings from the Receive From <\/em>and Send To <\/em>dropdown boxes.

- #2: V-Control XT2<\/li>
- #3: V-Control XT3<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
- Open Preferences, click the Mixing<\/strong> tab, and check the box next to Always Fill Channel Strips when Banking<\/em>.<\/li>
- Click the a z (keyboard focus)<\/strong> icon in the top right of your Pro Tools project\u2019s edit window to enable the native Pro Tools key commands. You should now have complete control over Pro Tools.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
Mixer Alignment<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

- Click the a z (keyboard focus)<\/strong> icon in the top right of your Pro Tools project\u2019s edit window to enable the native Pro Tools key commands. You should now have complete control over Pro Tools.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
- Open Preferences, click the Mixing<\/strong> tab, and check the box next to Always Fill Channel Strips when Banking<\/em>.<\/li>
