After you\u2019ve downloaded and installed <strong>Boss Tone Studio<\/strong>, you can plug the amp in via USB and start working. The Katana is class-compliant on Windows, so if you\u2019re a PC user, continue to Use <strong><a href=\"#Using-Boss-Tone-Studio\">Boss Tone Studio<\/a><\/strong>. If you\u2019re a Mac user, you must first download and install the Boss Tone Studio driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"How-to-install-the-Boss-Katana-driver-macOS-only\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">How to install the Boss Katana driver (macOS only)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>With the Katana disconnected from your Mac, go to the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.boss.info\/global\/support\/updates_drivers\/h_m\/\" target=\"_blank\">product page<\/a> for your version of the Katana and download the latest version of your software.&nbsp;<ul><li>The Katana is now compatible with macOS Catalina.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Double-click the <strong>.pkg <\/strong>file and follow the on-screen instructions. If you receive a message \u201cSystem Extension Blocked\u201d, click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Once the installation is complete, restart your computer.<\/li><li>Once your computer has restarted, connect the Katana to your computer and turn the amp on.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Install-Adobe-AIR-Windows-PC\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Install Adobe AIR (Windows PC)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For Boss Tone Studio to work correctly, you first must install the latest version of the free Adobe AIR software on your PC. The Adobe AIR installer is built in to the Boss Tone Studio installer so you just need to launch that in order to install Adobe AIR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Go to the Boss Katana Support page and download the latest version of Boss Tone Studio for your OS.<\/li><li>Navigate to your <em>Downloads <\/em>folder, extract, then launch the <strong>BOSS_TONE_STUDIO_for_KATANA<\/strong> installer.<\/li><li>When prompted, Click <strong>Next <\/strong>to install Adobe AIR.<ul><li>If, by any chance, you still run into issues when launching Boss Tone Studio, go to <a href=\"https:\/\/airsdk.harman.com\/runtime\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Harmon&#8217;s AIR download page<\/a> to get the latest version.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.boss.info\/global\/support\/by_product\/katana-50\/updates_drivers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2020\/02\/Boss-Tone-Studio-download.jpg\" alt=\"Boss Tone Studio download\" class=\"wp-image-1770383\" width=\"369\" height=\"365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2020\/02\/Boss-Tone-Studio-download.jpg 738w, https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2020\/02\/Boss-Tone-Studio-download-300x296.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 369px) 100vw, 369px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\"> <strong>Important note to Catalina users<\/strong> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve updated to macOS Catalina, you must first give permission to allow the driver to be loaded properly before completing the driver installation. If you run into any issues during the installation process, check out Boss\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boss.info\/global\/support\/support_news\/19091015\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">driver installation troubleshooting guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Navigate to <strong>System Preferences <\/strong>and click <strong>Security &amp; Privacy<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Click General. You can also download and import custom Livesets using <strong>Tone Central<\/strong>. Finally, you will change global <strong>system settings<\/strong> using Boss Tone Studio.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Editor\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Editor<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"573\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2020\/02\/Editor-screen-1024x573.jpg\" alt=\"Boss Tone Studio Editor Screen\" class=\"wp-image-1761233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2020\/02\/Editor-screen-1024x573.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2020\/02\/Editor-screen-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2020\/02\/Editor-screen-768x430.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2020\/02\/Editor-screen.jpg 1162w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Editor allows you to change the tone of your Katana in real-time. Using the Editor is very useful since you\u2019ll get access to more effects, flexible internal routing, and even customizable foot pedal assignments. All of the tones currently on your Katana are displayed on the left side of the app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>To edit a tone, just click the channel tone you want to change, adjust the parameters to where you want them, then click <strong>Write<\/strong>. Name it something unique, and then click <strong>Write <\/strong>once more.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The <strong>PANEL TONE <\/strong>is a direct reflection of the current position of the knobs on your Katana.<\/li><li>Click <strong>CHAIN <\/strong>to select one of the four effects routing chains for your amp. The <em>Reverb<\/em> and <em>Delay 2<\/em> will always be at the end of the signal chain.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Click <strong>CLEAR <\/strong>to initialize the current settings of the selected tone.<\/li><li>Check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/static.roland.com\/assets\/media\/pdf\/BTS_KTN-Mk2_eng01_W.pdf#page=15\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Boss Tone Studio manual<\/a> for a detailed list of all of the effects parameters available.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"Librarian\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Librarian<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"573\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2020\/02\/Librarian-screen-1024x573.jpg\" alt=\"Boss Tone Studio Librarian screen\" class=\"wp-image-1761234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2020\/02\/Librarian-screen-1024x573.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2020\/02\/Librarian-screen-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2020\/02\/Librarian-screen-768x430.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/media\/2020\/02\/Librarian-screen.jpg 1162w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While in the Librarian window, you can create and edit <em>Livesets<\/em>, edit tone and Liveset names, and also import\/export data from your Katana. Livesets and tones can also be duplicated, arranged, and removed within the Librarian menu. You can save up to 15 tones per Liveset, and have up to 50 Livesets.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Click and drag a channel tone to add it to your Liveset. Hold the <strong>Shift <\/strong>key to select multiple tones.
