This means you\u2019ll learn how to record audio from your Push, edit it, and assign it to a pad to use for sampling. However, you can record your own samples, which you can then slice, loop, and assign to a Drum Rack. Before you can record, however, you first must set up your audio interface within Live.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Select-your-interface-in-Live\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\"><strong>Select your interface in Live<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>In Live, select <strong>Options<\/strong>, choose <strong>Preferences<\/strong>, and then click the <strong>Audio <\/strong>tab.<\/li><li>Select your audio interface from the <em>Audio Device <\/em>dropdown box and adjust the <em>Input <\/em>and<em> Output Config<\/em>, as necessary.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Record-audio-from-the-Push\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\"><strong>Record audio from the Push<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once your audio interface is set up within Live, you can then go back to the Push to begin recording. You just need to create an audio track and update its I\/O. After that, it\u2019s just a matter of pressing record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Press the <strong>Add Track <\/strong>button, select <strong>Audio track<\/strong>, choose <strong>Default track<\/strong>, and press the <strong>Load <\/strong>button.<\/li><li>Press the <strong>Mix <\/strong>button twice to open the track settings, and press the button underneath the second encoder to select <strong>Input &amp; Output<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Use the third encoder to select <strong>Ext. Depending on the sample, you may want to choose one over the other, but you can get creative with samples in each respective mode. You can adjust the start, stop, and loop points, as well as change assorted options such as warping, cropping and reversing the sample.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Editing audio samples is non-destructive, which means that the original audio file is unaffected and your edited version will be saved as a separate file. That means that you can create both leads, as well as chords. While it\u2019s best suited for melodic instruments, you can get unique sounds with percussive samples, as well. While you can still edit the start and endpoints of samples, One-Shot is monophonic, and you cannot enable looping. Using the One-Shot mode is most useful for a drum break, fill, or a short sample like a reverse cymbal swell.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Learn Push 2: Sampling: One Shot Mode\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CxLRd_4pXVQ?wmode=transparent&amp;rel=0&amp;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignCenter noUnderline customh5 swheader\">  <strong>Sampling: One Shot Mode<\/strong>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Slicing\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Slicing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Slicing <\/strong>mode will automatically split different parts of the samples and assign them to pads. You can slice a sample by Transient, Beat, or region. You can also create a custom slice. Slicing mode is especially useful if, for example, you want to rearrange a drum loop in the middle of a song.
