How to update the firmware on a Roland SPD-SX<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Check the firmware version number<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    SPD-SX firmware updates often add new features and bug fixes to the device\u2019s internal software. You may need to perform a firmware update if you\u2019re running into issues and need to reload the system\u2019s software. Before performing a firmware update, check which firmware version you\u2019re currently running and compare it to the latest System Program<\/em> listed on the SPD-SX download page<\/a>. Follow these steps to check the firmware version.

    1. Press MENU<\/strong>, select UTIL<\/strong> and then press ENTER<\/strong>.<\/li>

      Perform the firmware update<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Once you confirm that the SPD-SX requires updating, you can begin the update process. You\u2019ll need to connect the USB thumb drive to your computer, download the System Program<\/em> file on the SPD-SX download page, and then perform the update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Connect the USB thumb drive to your computer, and download the latest System Program <\/a><\/em>file<\/a>.<\/li>
      2. Extract the .zip <\/strong>file, open the spdsx_sys_v10x <\/em>folder, then copy and paste only <\/strong>the _BOOTPREG.ES_<\/strong> to the USB thumb drive. Do not copy the entire folder to the thumb drive.<\/li>
      3. Turn off the SPD-SX and then connect the USB thumb drive.<\/li>
      4. Hold ALL SOUND OFF<\/strong>, QUICK<\/strong>, and EXIT <\/strong>while pressing the POWER <\/strong>button. Continue pressing the POWER <\/strong>button until the ** SPD-SX UPDATER ** <\/strong>screen appears.<\/li>
      5. Once the firmware update is complete, turn the SPD-SX off and back on.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
