That means we\u2019ll show you how to create an account, register the product, and then install and activate the software. New users will need to create an Avid Master Account, but returning users can continue using the same login information. Follow these steps to register the activation code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Registering-renewal-codes\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Registering renewal codes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are renewing a current Media Composer license, you will need to navigate to the <strong>My Products <\/strong>tab in your Avid Master Account, click on<strong> Media Composer<\/strong>, and then copy and paste the code into the <em>Renewal Code <\/em>box on the right side of the window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Sign in to your <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/my.avid.com\/account\/orientation?websource=avid\" target=\"_blank\">Avid Master Account<\/a>. Once activated on Avid\u2019s website, Avid will provide you a new <strong>EDU verification code<\/strong> on the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/my.avid.com\/products#MyProducts\" target=\"_blank\">My Products and Subscriptions page<\/a> of your Avid Master Account. You will then need to submit your new code and any additional documentation to Identit-e\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/identit-e.com\/avid\/eligibility\" target=\"_blank\">eligibility confirmation page<\/a>.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When Identit-e has verified your eligibility, they will send a verification email and code to the email address you used for academic verification. You will then register the included code by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/my.avid.com\/products\/redemption\" target=\"_blank\">entering it in your Avid account<\/a>. If required, upload clear copies of any additional documentation. Go to your Avid account and select the installer for Media Composer and for your operating system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Navigate to the Media Composer drop-down on your Avid account page, and select the installer for your operating system.<\/li><li>Go to your <strong>Downloads <\/strong>folder, and launch the installer file.<ul><li><strong>PC: <\/strong>Right-click the .<em>zip <\/em>file, select <strong>Extract all\u2026<\/strong>, and then click <strong>Extract<\/strong>. Double-click the new .<em>exe <\/em>file and follow the on-screen instructions.<\/li><li><strong>Mac<\/strong>: Double-click the <em>.dmg <\/em>file. In the window that appears, double-click the <em>.pkg <\/em>file and follow the on-screen instructions.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Restart your computer once the installation is complete.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><a href=\"#Getting-started\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"button flat s blue\">Return to top<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Activate-the-product\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft noUnderline customh2 swheader\">Activate the product<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Media Composer uses the <em>Avid Link<\/em> app to activate your license(s) unlike Pro Tools, which requires iLok activation. <em>Avid Link<\/em> is installed during the Media Composer installation, however, you can also download it from your Avid account page or from the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.avid.com\/products\/avid-link#Downloads\" target=\"_blank\">Avid Link product page<\/a>. While you can use Media Composer on multiple computers, the license can only be tied to one machine at one time. Follow these steps to complete the activation process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Launch the Avid Media Composer app.<\/li><li>Click <strong>Electronic Activation<\/strong> and then click <strong>Continue<\/strong>.<\/li><li>When the Avid Link app opens, navigate to Media Composer, and click the down arrow to open the dropdown menu.<\/li><li>Click <strong>License<\/strong>, click the arrow in the <em>License Status <\/em>section, and then click <strong>Use License<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Click <strong>Continue <\/strong>to complete the activation process.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Deactivating-a-Media-Composer-license\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Deactivating a Media Composer license<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you need to deactivate a Media Composer license to use it on another computer, click <strong>License<\/strong>, click the arrow in the <em>License Status <\/em>section, and then click <strong>Deactivate<\/strong>.
