The Performances can then be saved to a <strong>Live Set<\/strong> to recall them quickly. This is particularly useful in live situations, so you don\u2019t need to dive through the menus each time you need to change a Performance in the middle of a song. Think of a Live Set as multiple layers. <strong>Elements <\/strong>make up the <strong>Parts<\/strong>, and the <strong>Parts <\/strong>make up the <strong>Performance<\/strong>. All you need to do is add a preset part, build one from scratch, and then save it. Follow these steps to create a new performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Constructing-a-Part\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Constructing a Part<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Press the <strong>Category Search <\/strong>button and select the bank where the parts reside.<\/li><li>Press the Sound group you wish to choose from <em>(i.e., Piano, SynLead, Pad\/Choir) <\/em>and then select the part you want to add.&nbsp;<ul><li>If you wish to create an empty Part, press the <strong>Init <\/strong>button, and select the type of part; <strong>AWM2<\/strong>,<strong> FM-X<\/strong>, or <strong>Drum.<\/strong><\/li><li>Preset Performances often have multiple Parts, so you may need to edit them within the Performance Edit window.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Press the<strong> Exit <\/strong>button to return to the Performance Edit window.<ul><li>To add more parts, press the <strong>+ <\/strong>sign on an empty Part and repeat steps 1 &amp; 2.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Import-custom-samples\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Import custom samples<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can import custom audio files such as MP3, WAV, or AIFF with a USB thumb drive connected to the <strong>USB TO DEVICE<\/strong> on the back of the synthesizer. Before using the thumb drive, be sure that it\u2019s formatted correctly for FAT. Follow these steps to import a custom sample to use as a Part.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Connect the USB drive to your computer and copy the audio file.<\/li><li>Connect the drive to the Montage, navigate to the <strong>Performance Edit <\/strong>screen, and create an <strong>Init <\/strong>Part.<\/li><li>Press the name of the part, press <strong>Edit<\/strong>, and then select the <strong>Element number <\/strong>you want to load it.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Press <strong>Select Waveform<\/strong>, and select the audio file you wish to add. Once the file is imported, go back to the Element Edit screen, and press <strong>ON <\/strong>to turn the Element on.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Save-a-Performance\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Save a Performance<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saving custom Performances require you to go to the Utility menu. Once saved, they are stored in the Montage\u2019s internal storage. Performances are erased when you complete firmware updates or factory resets, so always back them up as a good practice. The Montage comes with 16 preset Live Sets, but there are eight user banks of 256 live sets, meaning you can have a total of 2,048 User Live Sets! You can toggle through live sets via the touch panel, the navigation buttons on the side, or if you use an FC5 foot pedal, you can assign it to toggle which is very useful during live sets. Follow these steps to create a new Live Set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Press the <strong>Live Set <\/strong>button, press the <strong>Down<\/strong> arrow in the <em>Bank <\/em>section to select <strong>User<\/strong>, and use the <strong>Up<\/strong> and <strong>Down <\/strong>arrows to select the <strong>Live Set <\/strong>page.<\/li><li>Press <strong>Category Search<\/strong>, and navigate to the Performance you wish to add.<\/li><li>With the sound selected, hold the <strong>SHIFT<\/strong> button and press <strong>Live Set<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Press the slot you wish to add the Performance to, and then press <strong>Enter<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Save-a-Live-Set\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Save a Live Set<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saving a Live Set is similar to saving a Performance. However, it will be saved to a Library, which means all user Live Sets will be combined into one folder and can only be saved onto a USB thumb drive.
