Follow the sections below to get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li><strong><a href=\"#format-the-usb-thumb-drive\">Format the USB thumb drive<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"#Back-up-data\">Back up data<\/a><\/strong><ul><li><strong><a href=\"#Restoring-data\">Restoring data<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"#Perform-a-factory-reset\">Perform a factory reset<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Format-the-USB-thumb-drive\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft noUnderline customh2 swheader\">Format the USB thumb drive<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#ffe46e\" class=\"has-background\"><strong>IMPORTANT<\/strong>: The user data files can be quite large, so you will need a USB thumb drive that has at least 1GB of storage capacity.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before backing up your data and performing a factory reset you first need to make sure your USB thumb drive is formatted to FAT. You can format the USB thumb drive directly from the Montage. Before you format the thumb drive, be sure that it is compatible with the Montage. View the<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/usa.yamaha.com\/files\/download\/other_assets\/2\/955582\/DE_en_MONTAGE.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"> list of compatible thumb drives here<\/a>. Follow these steps to format the drive on the Montage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Connect the USB thumb drive to the Montage.<\/li><li>Press the <strong>Utility <\/strong>button or the <strong>cog <\/strong>icon, then press <strong>Contents<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Select <strong>Load<\/strong>, press <strong>Content Type<\/strong>, and choose <strong>User File<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Press <strong>Job <\/strong>on the top right corner of the display, press the USB thumb drive to select it and then press <strong>Format<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Press <strong>Format <\/strong>to confirm, name your USB thumb drive <em>(i.e., Montage drive)<\/em>, and then press <strong>Done <\/strong>to complete.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><a href=\"#Getting-started\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"button flat s blue\">Return to top<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Back-up-data\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft noUnderline customh2 swheader\">Back up data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#05629c;color:#ffffff\" class=\"has-text-color has-background\"><strong>TIP: <\/strong>Depending on how much user data is saved on the Montage, the backup process may take some time.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Performing a factory reset will erase user data and bring the Montage back to its original out-of-the-box state. So before performing a factory reset, you first need to back up your data on a USB thumb drive. You can reset the Montage three different ways; system settings, user data, and system data.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Initialize All Settings: <\/strong>System settings edited in the <em>Utility <\/em>menu such as display, tuning, and audio I\/O settings will be reset. Saved user data is kept.<\/li><li><strong>Initialize User Data: <\/strong>All saved user data (Performance, Song, and libraries) will be reset.
