We\u2019ve collected some useful Pocket Operator notes below for getting started. While the features below are the same for each device, check your Pocket Operator\u2019s guide for details about each button\/feature and how to use it. Powering on and off<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
  • Pocket Operators automatically power off after 5 minutes of inactivity. The LCD will remain lit, but all patterns and settings are saved. When connected by line-in, power off happens after 60 minutes.<\/li>
  • PO\u2019s will power on once batteries are connected. If not powering on, adjust the PO\u2019s battery contacts and insert a fresh set of batteries.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n

    Changing volume<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Hold the bpm<\/strong> button and select the volume level from the 1-16 buttons. When connecting multiple Pocket Operator\u2019s, set the volume of the leftmost (first) units lower than the rightmost (last). Each Pocket Operator will add its sound to any signal it\u2019s already receiving and output them together. If the levels aren\u2019t balanced correctly, you\u2019ll likely hear one or more much softer than the others. Keep in mind that turning up the level of one PO will also affect any signal connected to the line input.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

    Changing tempo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Pocket Operators have three built-in tempo presets: HIP HOP, DISCO, and TECHNO. Press the bpm<\/strong> button to cycle through them. Hold the bpm<\/strong> button and turn the B<\/strong> knob<\/strong> to manually adjust the tempo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • CUSTOM TEMPO:<\/strong>\u00a0Hold bpm<\/strong> and turn the B<\/strong> knob.<\/li>
    • TEMPO PRESETS: <\/strong>Press bpm<\/strong>\u00a0to cycle.
      • HIP HOP: 80 bpm<\/li>
      • DISCO: 120 bpm<\/li>
      • TECHNO: 140 bpm<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n

        Write mode: create patterns<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        Press the write button (bottom right) to enable\/disable entering notes into the sequencer. You\u2019ll see a record enable icon on the screen when write mode is turned on. Notes can be entered while stopped, or on the fly while playing the sequencer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Create a pattern while stopped<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Press the write<\/strong> button to enable\/disable write mode.<\/li>
        2. Press 1-16<\/strong> to trigger the selected sound at that beat.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Record while playing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          1. Press play<\/strong> to start the sequencer.<\/li>
          2. Hold the write<\/strong> button and press 1-16<\/strong> to record into the current pattern.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n\n\n

            Synchronizing one or more Pocket Operators<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

            Pocket Operators have six modes which determine their input, output, and synchronization settings. The default mode is SY0<\/strong>, where the sync feature is turned off, and the input\/output receives\/sends stereo audio. If you want the PO to either receive or send sync, it needs to be set to the appropriate mode (SY1-SY5)<\/em>. When done, the left channel is the audio click track (sync)<\/em>, and the right channel is audio. To choose the right mode, determine what the PO needs to send (output)<\/em> and receive (input)<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            For example, when connecting and synchronizing three PO\u2019s together, set them in order SY1, SY5, and SY4. This makes sure that both the audio signal and sync travel through all three devices. The last device should be set to output stereo so you don\u2019t hear the audio click track. Other setups will be different and depend on your specific configuration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Do not sync to external gear with levels exceeding 5Vpp (5V peak-to-peak), they can damage your Pocket Operator!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Change sync modes:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

            To change modes, hold the function<\/strong> button and press the bpm<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Factory reset<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

            To reset a Pocket Operator to factory settings, hold the pattern<\/strong> and write<\/strong> buttons while inserting the batteries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            1. Carefully remove the batteries with a prying tool.<\/li>
            2. Hold the write<\/strong> and pattern<\/strong> buttons.<\/li>
            3.
