After it\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/how-to-register-download-install-and-authorize-toontrack-software\/\" target=\"_blank\">registered and installed<\/a>, you can launch the desktop app or load it as a virtual instrument track. All of the functions remain the same, both as a plug-in inside a DAW and standalone mode. If you want to practice along to some music or need to get a quick arrangement down, use standalone mode to save some time. However, if you plan on recording, consider using it as a virtual instrument within your DAW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Setting-up-external-hardware\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Setting up external hardware<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re using an electronic drum set or an external MIDI controller, now is a great time to set it up. This way, you won\u2019t need to make any changes to settings in the future. Make sure that the audio and MIDI settings within Superior Drummer match those of your gear. First, you\u2019ll need to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/connecting-electronic-drums-to-your-computer\/#connectingtoyourcomputer\" target=\"_blank\">connect it to your computer<\/a> then configure it within Superior Drummer 3. Follow these steps to select, change, and create custom settings with your MIDI controller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Preset-MIDI-mapping\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Preset MIDI mapping<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Navigate to <strong>Settings<\/strong> on the top toolbar, then select <strong>MIDI In\/E-Drums.<\/strong><\/li><li>Click <strong>Select a MIDI Device\u2026 <\/strong>to bring up the <strong>Audio\/MIDI <\/strong>settings window.<\/li><li>Click <strong>MIDI Device<\/strong>, and select your MIDI controller. Click <strong>Apply <\/strong>to save the change.<\/li><li>Click <strong>Use Preset<\/strong>, then <strong>Default<\/strong>, and locate your MIDI controller in the Manufacturer drop-down box. This will automatically assign the correct samples to the right pads.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Custom-MIDI-mapping\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Custom MIDI mapping<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your MIDI controller or electronic drum set isn\u2019t showing up in the manufacturer presets or want to have a custom MIDI map for your controller, you can use the MIDI Learn function which assigns the sample to the pad of your choice. To do this, select the sample you wish to change in the <em>MIDI In\/E-Drums<\/em> settings, click <strong>Learn<\/strong>, then hit a pad. When you launch Superior Drummer, a drum kit is already preloaded and ready for you to play. If you want to load a loop, change levels, or build a song, however, you\u2019ll need to use the tabs to get to the correct spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"#Drums\"><strong>Drums tab<\/strong><\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#Grooves\"><strong>Grooves tab<\/strong><\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#Mixer\"><strong>Mixer tab<\/strong><\/a><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"#Tracker\">Tracker tab<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Drums\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Drums<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Drums <\/strong>tab is where you will preview and change drum kits or samples. You can also search and sort MIDI loops by <em>Genre<\/em>, <em>Play Style<\/em>, <em>Type<\/em>, and<em> Time Signature<\/em>. If you click <strong>Tap2Find\u2026 <\/strong>You can play a drum beat, and then Superior Drummer will list loops and fills which match yours most. You can edit and fix any trigger issues, then export it as a MIDI track. You can either load a preset kit and change individual samples or create your own from scratch. Follow these steps to load a drum sample or kit. Also, be sure to check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toontrack.com\/manual\/superior-drummer-3\/3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Superior Drummer 3 manual<\/a> for detailed information on the parameters that can be changed.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"How-to-add-a-library-path\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">How to add a library path <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Launch Superior Drummer in Standalone mode, navigate to <strong>Settings<\/strong>, then select <strong>Libraries<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Click <strong>Browse for Library Path(s)&#8230;<\/strong>, and navigate to the folder in which your Superior Drummer libraries (<strong>SDX<\/strong>) are located. You\u2019ll only need to do this if the library is on an external hard drive or on a computer where no previous library installation was installed.&nbsp;<ul><li>If you change the SDX location<em>, <\/em>click the <strong>Menu <\/strong>icon in the library\u2019s section, select <strong>Edit Path<\/strong>, and then select the folder where the library is located.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Preset-drum-kits\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Preset drum kits<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Navigate to the<strong> Sound Library Selection<\/strong> menu and select the Toontrack library where the preset kit is located.<\/li><li>Select the preset kit of your choice by clicking the <strong>Library Preset Selection<\/strong> menu drop-down. Click the <strong>Library Preset Selection<\/strong> dropdown box, then click <strong>Save As.<\/strong> To load the kit later, click the <strong>Library Preset Selection <\/strong>dropdown box, then navigate to <strong>User Presets<\/strong> to select the kit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Want-to-change-a-sample\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Want to change a sample?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the <strong>Drum<\/strong> tab, right-click a drum or cymbal and select the sample you want.
