You\u2019ll need to register the device, which gives you access to a free license of Studio One Artist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Basic-controls\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Basic controls<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PreSonus ATOM has many different functions which you can use in any DAW. We\u2019ve laid out the basic functions for you in the diagram above. For a detailed list and advanced functions, visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/pae-web.presonusmusic.com\/downloads\/products\/pdf\/ATOM_Owners_Manual_EN_14092018.pdf#page=13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>User Manual<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Status-indicator\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Status indicator<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Status Indicator light shows when it is connected. It will turn blue when you launch Studio One but will stay green otherwise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Controller-knobs\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Controller knobs<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The controller knobs are used to adjust settings such as panning, volume, and various virtual instrument controls. They\u2019re customizable as well to help with your workflow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Controller-pads\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Controller pads<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pads can run in two different modes; <strong>MIDI Drum<\/strong> and <strong>MIDI Keyboard<\/strong>. When in <strong>MIDI Drum<\/strong> mode, each row of pads will illuminate with the same colors. When in <strong>MIDI Keyboard<\/strong> mode, the pads will illuminate the same pattern as a traditional keyboard. The yellow pads indicate the white keys, and blue indicates black.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"DAW-control\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">DAW control<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By default, the right row of buttons on the ATOM is for DAW control although you can customize their function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The <strong>Navigation<\/strong> section allows you to select a track, move the transport bar back and forth, and also zoom in and out of your project.<\/li><li>The <strong>Transport<\/strong> section is for basic recording. Stop, Play, Record, and enabling\/disabling the click track.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4>Pad Functions<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The pad functions will change different parameters of how your pad reacts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The <strong>Bank<\/strong> button will switch between pad banks, which is particularly useful if you have, for example, a keyboard part that spans more than two octaves.<\/li><li><strong>Mode Control<\/strong> allows you to turn off velocity sensitivity (<em>Full Level<\/em>) and repeat a note as long as the pad is held (<em>Note Repeat<\/em>).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"MIDI-track-controls\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">MIDI track controls<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two groups that make up the MIDI Track Controls section; Event and Instrument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Event Controls<\/strong> let you insert, remove, and move instrument patterns around.<\/li><li><strong>Instrument Controls<\/strong> are dedicated to when you load a virtual instrument. You can show or hide the instrument window, and you can also navigate through presets.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Song-controls\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Song controls<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Song Control section is primarily used for basic project set up and control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The <strong>Song Setup<\/strong> button allows you to open the virtual instrument browser window, create tracks, and change presets.<\/li><li>The <strong>Set Loop<\/strong> button allows you to set loop points at the beginning and end of an area.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><a href=\"#Overview\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"button flat s blue\">Return to top<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Register-the-ATOM\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Register the ATOM<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ATOM includes a free copy of Studio One Artist and additional bonus plug-ins. To get the licenses, you\u2019ll need to register the device on the PreSonus website using the serial number located on the bottom of the device. You\u2019ll also need to enter the purchase date, so keep your Sweetwater invoice handy. Follow these steps to register the PreSonus A TOM controller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Log into your <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/my.presonus.com\/auth\/login?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fmy.presonus.com%2Fzendesk_sso%2Flogin\" target=\"_blank\">PreSonus account<\/a>. If you haven\u2019t created one yet, visit this <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/my.presonus.com\/auth\/create_user\" target=\"_blank\">page<\/a>.<\/li><li>On your account home page, click <strong>Register a Product<\/strong>, then select <strong>Hardware<\/strong> in the <strong>Choose product type\u2026<\/strong> dropdown box.<\/li><li>Enter the purchase date and serial number located on the bottom of your ATOM, then click <strong>Register<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Once registered, click <strong>My Products<\/strong> on top of the PreSonus page, then click <strong>Software<\/strong> under <em>My Products<\/em> to download and register the software. All PreSonus hardware drivers are included in the Universal Control installer file, so there is only one file you\u2019ll need to download. ATOM controllers are class-compliant on Mac, so no additional drivers are necessary. Follow these steps to download and install Universal Control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Click the <strong>Hardware<\/strong> tab in the <em>My Products<\/em> section of your account, click <strong>View More Details<\/strong> under the ATOM, then click<strong> Download installer<\/strong>.<ul><li>If you need to download Universal Control for a different OS, click <strong>View Other Systems<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Go to your Downloads folder and run the Universal Control installer.<ul><li><strong>PC<\/strong>: Double-click the .<strong>exe<\/strong> file to begin the installation process.<\/li><li><strong>Mac<\/strong>: Double-click the .<strong>dmg<\/strong> file then double-click the .<strong>pkg<\/strong> to begin the installation process.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Which-drivers-should-I-install\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft underline customh4 swheader\">Which drivers should I install?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re operating on Windows, you will be prompted to select which drivers you\u2019d like to install during the Universal Control installation process. Uncheck all of the boxes except for the <strong>ATOM USB<\/strong>, then complete the installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><a href=\"#Overview\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"button flat s blue\">Return to top<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"Connections-and-Universal-Control\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader blackHeader alignLeft noUnderline customh2 swheader\">Connections and Universal Control<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After you\u2019ve registered the device and downloaded the latest version of Universal Control, the next step is to connect the ATOM to your computer and verify that it\u2019s recognized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"Connecting-the-ATOM\" class=\"wp-block-cgb-block-customheader darkBlueHeader alignLeft underline customh3 swheader\">Connecting the ATOM<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Connecting the ATOM is simple. Connect the USB cable from the device into your cable to power it on. While you can connect it to a USB hub, we recommend connecting it directly to the computer to ensure the best connectivity and performance. Follow these steps to get connected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f2f1f0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<div style=\"height:5px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Connect the USB cable into the computer.<\/li><li>Navigate to your computer\u2019s device settings to ensure that the device is recognized.<ul><li><strong>PC<\/strong>: Go to <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweetwater.com\/sweetcare\/articles\/how-to-open-device-manager-in-windows-10\/\" target=\"_blank\">Device Manager<\/a>, then click <strong>Sound, video and game controllers<\/strong> to verify it\u2019s listed.<\/li><li><strong>Mac<\/strong>: Go to <strong>Applications<\/strong>, then click <strong>Utilities<\/strong> and <strong>System Information<\/strong>. Verify it&#8217;s listed in the USB section.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Launch Universal Control to check if a firmware update is needed. As soon as you launch Studio One, the status indicator light on top of the unit should turn blue. Make sure that you have the latest version of Studio One or else the controller may not recognize native control! If you&#8217;re using a different DAW, the status indicator light will remain green, and you&#8217;ll need to enable it manually.
